Sorceress Queen of Raam, she tries to stop our heroes with her armies. She was known as Uyness of Waverly, "Orc Plague".

* AdaptationalAttractiveness: The narrations makes no mention of the disfigured visage she sports in the tabletop game itself.
* CombatPragmatist: Her main tactic revolves around turning herself invisible and teleporting in the battlefield casting spells.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: She's the biggest obstacle fought by the heroes in the first part of the final book. Fighting her also showcases how stronger the group went.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: Given the desertic nature of Athas, her pale complexion stands out, paired with her black hair.
* FemmeFatalons: Has large claws on her fingers.
* FlunkyBoss: She brings along her whole army to lay waste on Tyr's forces, supporting her soldiers with her magic.

Little-known Sorcerer King of Draj, looks like a bird man and seems pretty obnoxious. In the past he was the "Annihilator of Wemic".

* AGodAmI: Considers himself a god according to [[AllThereInTheManual the manual]]. Considering that he, like his peers, can bestow powers to his templars, this is not [[DeityOfHumanOrigin a completely empty claim]], though his followers still worship him out of fear of retribution.
* FeatheredFiend: He has the appearence of a monstrous bird humanoid. Oddly enough, he looks like a human in the tabletop game.
* {{Mayincatec}}: His domain of Draj is described in these terms. King Tec has also a thing for pulling the still-beating hearts out of his victims' chests.
* OverlyLongName: His full name is Tectuktitlay, but he's simply called "King Tec" in book even by the narrative.
* {{Pride}}: Even in the middle of a world-threatening situation he still wants to be called by his full name by the other Sorcerer Kings. (That being: ''the Mighty and Omnipotent Tectuktitlay, Father of Life and Master of the Two Moons'').
* SmallNameBigEgo: He's still an incredibly powerful and terrifying Sorcerer King, but he's the weakest of the Sorcerer Kings (at Challenge Rate 22, contrasting the others who are around 25/28). Nevertheless, he's incredibly full of himself and constantly tries to make his colleagues address him by his full, bombastic title. Unsurprisingly, [[spoiler: Rajaat crushes him like an ant.]]

!!Lalali-Puy
The "Oba" of Gulg, appears as a beautiful black woman with fangs. She appears in the last book. Was known as Inenek "Aarakocra Scourge''.

* AdaptationalNiceGuy: She's listed as "Evil" in the tabletop game, but even there it is said that she's the closest thing the setting has to a good Sorcerer King.
* AntiquatedLinguistics: In the tabletop, it is mentioned how Lalali-Puy talks in old, outdated language that her entire court must speak as well.
* CuteLittleFangs: The only obviously monstrous trait consist in small fangs pressing against her lower lip.
* DeadpanSnarker: Enjoys throwing some snarking at the expenses of [[spoiler: the sealed tyrant Tithian]].
* MrExposition: Explains the history of old Athas to our heroes.
* NobleDemon: She's seen in a far better light than her colleagues and is basically the only Sorcerer King who's genuinely adored by her subjects.
* OffstageVillainy: She's probably the only good Sorcerer King, since even her commoners bless her and consider her a goddess they willingfully worship.

!!Gaj
An exotic beast captured by Tithian in order to use it in the gladiatorial games. Looks like a huge bug who can devour minds and communicate with telepathy.

* BigCreepyCrawlies: Looks like a huge orange roach.
* BullyingADragon: When fighting in the arena, he threatens to alarm Kalak about his impending assassination plot if Rikul doesn't surrender. It doesn't end well for the bug.
* ChekhovsGunman: Apparently just a big ugly beast, it turns out to be really important to the plot.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Eventually Rikus kills it with the Heartwood spear.
* KillerRabbit: At first it doesn't look impressive (compared to the other monsters faced by Rikus at least)... then it touches you with its tentacles....
* {{Telepathy}}: Can communicate with people.
* UngratefulBastard: Rikus and Neeva were about to free it, and it answers by killing one of their friends. Turns out the Gaj is quite a pragmatic bastard.

!!Anezka
A mute halfling gladiator. She's quite hard to comprehend and quite snippy at times. She helps the group in the Halfling Forest, [[spoiler: but eventually betrays them.]]

* CuteMute: She loss her vocal cords to torture and is quite attractive. She's also very snippy and hard to read.
* FragileSpeedster: She's incredibly nimble and fast due to her small size and heritage, but she lacks strength.
* {{Jerkass}}: She comes off like one, frequently showing hostility at the heroes even when they're trying to help her.

!!Ktandeo
A sorcerer of the Veiled Alliance and friend of Nok, he's the one who taught the ways of magic to Sadira.

* CastFromHitPoints: He can use the obsidian sphere on the end of his staff to draw mana directly from his own life force. [[spoiler: Unfortunately, it costs him his life.]]
* CoolOldGuy: Sadira's teacher and a wise master of magic.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Being close to Nok and the Halflings, he cares about the nature and preaches against defilers.
* OldMaster: To Sadira, his pupil in sorcery.
* YouShallNotPass: [[spoiler: Use his spells to delay a massive amount of pursuing templars to let Agis and Sadira flee to safety.]]

!!Sacha and Wyan
Two zombie heads which are seen with Kalak and later owned by Tithian. It's revealed that they were Champions who fought against the rebels and died. They were the "Kobolds Curse" and "Pixie Blight" respectively.

* DirtyCoward: While the other Champions fought impressive races such as Dwarves, Elves, Ogres and Trolls, they choose Kobolds and Pixies as their opponents. They were also among the little few Champions who didn't rebel.
* FatAndSkinny: Sacha is the fat one, while Wyan is the skinny. They're almost always together, though they don't have much of a choice.
* ImAHumanitarian: They both feed on blood and flesh.
* KickTheDog: In book 4 Wyan threatens to rip Phylo's throat off if Agis doesn't give in the bag with the Obsidian Oracle inside.
* NoSell: Apparently both are immune to mind attacks, as their minds are "resting" after completing their duty.
* SmugSnake: Both are slimy and unpleasant to allies and enemies alike.
* SinkOrSwimMentor: To Tithian, in the ways of pshycic powers and magic. They do their best to be as aggravating and unhelpful as they can.
* SmallNameBigEgo: They're all talk and pride due to being former champions, but are nothing more than glorified talking heads.
* TheUndead: Zombie heads, still fully cognizant, hungry for blood and able to float around.

!!Nok
A great and powerful Halfling sorcerer, who forged the Staff of Ktandeo and the Heartwood spear. He really cares about the forest and is a little hostile towards humans, but will do anything to stop Kalak.

* CoolOldGuy: The wise and old leader of the Halflings and the only one who's not a ferocious savage.
* GreenThumb: Can manipulate wood and vegetation.
* ImplacableMan: He pursues [[spoiler: Sadira]] from his native jungle across the desert.
* TakingYouWithMe: Attempts this on [[spoiler: Sadira]] and almost succeeds.

!!Maetan Lubar
A nobleman from Urik, and Rikus' former owner. He leads his troops against the tyrians and comands the Shadow Giant Umbra.

* AristocratsAreEvil: A cruel and evil nobleman who regularly mistreated his slaves.
* ISurrenderSuckers: When his army is almost gone, he surrenders to Rikus, [[spoiler: and tries to kill him.]]
* MindRape: A master of the "Way", this is his favourite trump card to unleash on Rikus.
* SmugSnake: A vile individual who's always sure that things will go his way.

!!Umbra
The King of the Shadow People, is a huge shadow giant who's serving the Lubar clan and is fought by Rikus many times.

* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: He takes the form of a towering black humanoid made of sheer darkness.
* CastingAShadow: He's made of shadows.
* TheDragon: To Maetan, whou crought his services through magic.
* AnIcePerson: His touch is deathly cold.
* WeaksauceWeakness: [[spoiler: The lack of light, for shadows cannot exist in sheer darkness.]]

!!K'kriq
A thri-kreen soldier who was brainwashed by the Uriks. He fight alongside Rikus and trusts him.

* BigCreepyCrawlies: He's a mantis-man.
* DefiantToTheEnd: He dared to bite King Hamanu as he was crushing him.
* FamilyUnfriendlyDeath: Hamanu laughs off his poison, rip off his armor and proceed to crush his flesh.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: He has four arms and is a mighty warrior even unarmed.
* IOweYouMyLife: His reason for loyally following Rikus.
* PoisonousPerson: His bite is poisonous.

!!Tamar
One of the champions of Borys, is now a wraith. She and her companions wishes to know what happened to Borys, so she follows Rikus [[spoiler: in the form of a ruby in his chest]] and torments him.

* AnimateDead: She can bring a small valley full of skeletal remains to life with her magic.
* DoubleWeapon: Back when she was human, her weapon was a double-ended scythe made of bones.
* FantasticRacism: During one of her visions she appears to Rikus as a seductive woman barely covered in veil. When he asks her if she plans to seduce him, she angrily scoffs that she'd never degrade herself by laying with a hybrid.
* KarmaHoudiniWarranty: [[spoiler: She walks away scott free with all the atrocities and pain she put Rikus through, only to be fought by Sadira in her home turf and ending up being destroyed.]]
* MindRape: She frequently does this to Rikus when he defies her and even when the little training he got he finds himself unprepared to deal with her assaults.

!!Rhayn
Sadira's half sister, is a power-hungry elf and a mediocre sorceress who wants to take her father's place.

* AmbitionIsEvil: Wants to rule the Sun Smugglers at any cost, nothing is too low for her. Not even seducing or killing relatives in the way.
* BuxomBeautyStandard: She undoubtly takes advantage of her beauty and her ample bosom.
* KilledOffForReal: She tries to attack the Shadow People but falls in a weed covered pool and is dragged underwater by the plants.
* ManipulativeBastard: Elf, wanting to improve her position in the clan by removing the current leader. That's enough of an explanation here.

!!Feanaeyon
Sadira's father and leader of the Sun Smugglers. Sadly, his days of glory are over, and now he has gotten old and drunk, and many of his tribe are willing to overthrow him at the first chance.

* TheAlcoholic: Quite fond of alcohol and wine, which lead to him becoming the shadow of his former self.
* {{Jerkass}}: One of the greatest assholes on Athas, though he had some PetTheDog or PapaWolf moments in the past, he's currently one of the most selfish, cruel and apathetic elves in the country.
* KarmaHoudini: He gets away with all his actions, and he's never heard of again.
* ManipulativeBastard: Like his daughter, as seen above, he enjoys spending what little mental faculty he has in putting his own men and clan against one another.
* NeverMyFault: He refuses to recognize that me may have caused Magnus' mutation as he cut through his mother's belly with a knife when Sadira points out that drinking made his arms unsteady.
* RetiredBadass: Used to be one of the greatest warriors and adventurers of all Athas... and the keyword here is ''used to''.

!!Prince Dhojakt
The son of Nibenay, appears as a grotesque human-centipede hybrid with a powerful magic. He pursues Sadira from Nibenay in order to stop her from reaching the Tower.

* AtrociousArthropods: Has this motif: not only he has the lower body of a giant centipede, but he also employs centipede-like cylops as hounds and his avatar in a psychic conversation takes the form of a giant spider with his head.
* BodyHorror: As if being half centipede wasn't enough, he has large, bulging eyes, tiny ears and a large bone pone plate instead of his teeth.
* CreepyCentipedes: From the knees down he's a gigantic, black centipede.
* TheDragon: To Nibenay, his own father. Justified since Nibenay himself never leaves his abode.
* GeniusBruiser: A powerful sorcerer, and is also {{Nigh Invulnerab|ility}}le to boot, making him a deadly threat for Sadira.
* TheHeavy: He becomes the enduring main threat for most of book 3, hounding Sadira across the city and beyond.
* ImplacableMan: During the course of the book Sadira tries several tricks to get rid of him, including her most powerful spell (a destructive cloud of acid capable of wiping out a small army) right in his nostril. It did delayed him, but it only managed to destroy his nose for good.
* KnightOfCerebus: Whenever he shows up, Sadira suddenly finds herself outmatched and forced to run.
* NobleDemon: Has standards he won't violate, which makes him outraged when Sadira [[spoiler: defiles the gardens to cast magic]].
* NotDistractedByTheSexy: Sadira's charms fail on him. Given that he's usually escorted by an AmazonBrigade of bare-breasted women this may be justified.
* WhatTheHellHero: Chews Sadira out for [[spoiler: defiling the Gardens of Nibenay]].
* TheWorfEffect: New Sadira destroys him without much pain.

!!Khirdar
The new leader of the Shadow People, agrees to help Sadira and her friends to fight against Borys after knowing what happened to Umbra. [[spoiler: He's actually a servant of Rajaat and helps them only to free his master. He eventually meets his end at the hands of Rikus.]]

* TheDragon: To Umbra, whom he served as the second in command. [[spoiler: And also to Rajaat all along.]]
* EnemyMine: He decides to help Sadira against the Dragon because they're enemies. [[spoiler: Revealed that they need Borys dead in order to release Rajaat.]]
* KlingonPromotion: With Umbra's demise, he's the new leader.
* ManipulativeBastard: Plays our heroes in order to free his master.

!!Fylo
A hybrid giant and a loner, he's tricked by Tithian and later befriended by Agis. Is a huge, simple giant who wants friends and company above anything else.

* AnimalMotifs: Bears, according to Nal, who advised him to choose a giant cave bear as his animal for the ceremony.
* DumbMuscle: He's even dumber than standard giants, however he can somehow use psionic powers.
* GentleGiant: Surprisingly enough, Fylo is a good soul at heart and a loyal friend.
* TheGrotesque: Unlike the humanoid Joorsh, Fylo is deformed-looking and uglier than most.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: Attacks several Joorsh Giants alone in an attempt to distort their attention from Agis and dies in combat.]]
* OurGiantsAreBigger: He's large enough to be a Joorsh, but his disfigured, grotesque visage indicates he could be something else.

!!Kester
A female tarek pirate and owner of the Dark Viper. She's hired by Agis to capture Tithian.

* ActionGirl: Being the captain of the Dark Viper, she's a force to be reckoned with in combat, especially due to her race, reknowed for physical might.
* MultiBoobage: Sports four boobs. Less appealing example than usual, considering that Tarek look like bulky humanoid bats.
* PirateGirl: She leads a gang of mercenary pirates and can be quite ruthless.
* PunchClockHero: Hired by Agis to help him in his quest, she's only in for wealth alone.

!!Mag'r
Sachem of the Joorsh Giants, wants to take the Obsidian Oracle from the Saram, and forces Agis and his crew to help him.

* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: Being the leader of the Giants, he's also the strongest warrior of the lot.
* CoolSword: Had a massive sword forged for his titanic size.
* FamilyUnfriendlyDeath: He falls in the Saram's sacred pit and is mauled by the ghosts of the deceased animals.
* OurGiantsAreBigger: Joorsh can grow to reach 20 meters of height and he's one of the largest.

!!Nal
Wise leader of the Saram, appears as a huge owl-headed giant. He fights to protect the Oracle but gets killed by Mag'r.

* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: Though he's smaller than Mag'r, he's still around 16 meter tall.
* AFatherToHisMen: During the Joorsh attack, Agis sees him ripping part of his loincloth to form a bandage for another wounded giant.
* TheOwlKnowingOne: Has the heas and feathers of an owl and is wise and knowledgeable.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Reveals to [[spoiler: Tithian]] that the Dragon can't turn him into a Sorcerer King.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: The ownership of the Oracle allows him to keep the Saram intelligent and protected from the ghosts of their former human parts. (ItMakesSenseInContext)

!!Jo'orsh and Sa'ram
The ancient dwarven Knights who swore to kill Borys, they guards the Black Lens as Undeads, and were the first giants. [[spoiler: They're tricked by Tithian into believing that Rkard is the hero destined to kill Borys, and they eventually are killed in the fifth book.]]

* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: Giant undead dwarves, due to the mutation of the Tower.
* DemBones: They take the appearence of phantom, deformed giant skeletons.
* MacGuffinGuardian: First the Lens, which they protect against all intruders, [[spoiler: then Rkard, after being tricked by Tithian into believing that he was TheChosenOne.]]
* ManlyFacialHair: So iconicly dwarven that even in death their beards are still here and visible, even if Sa'ram has no longer a head.
* RapidAging: They use their powers to subject Tithian to this.

!!The Spiritual Lords
A series of undead monsters serving under Borys as the commanders of his fleet. They attack our heroes but fail to stop them.

* EliteMook: They obey Borys, but clearly are not as powerful as the wraiths made out of his followers and are easily dispatched by the heroes.
* TheUndead: All of them , though each one of them has a distinctive tract.
** FemmeFatalons: Lady Joy, the only woman of the group, has massive claws oozing a yellow substance.
** HornedHumanoid: Lord Warrior, one of the few named, has a massive set of ram horns on his head.
** WingedHumanoid: An unidentified member sports huge bat wings and attacks from above.

!!Rajaat
The creator of magic and an extremely powerful sorcerer from the past. He thought that all the "new races" were abominations who needed to be destroyed at all costs. He tried to achieve his goal with the help of his Champions, but they turned on him and sealed him away.

* AbusivePrecursors: He set out to initiate genocide against all the other non-humand and non-halfling races, lending part of his awesome powers to his Champions, the future Sorcerer Kings. However, he did not started like this.
* TheArchmage: He was the first great sorcerer of Athas and taught magic to the halflings.
* BadBoss: Despite the oath of loyalty, he planned to take back all the power bestowed to his Champions once his crusade was done. They turned against him for this.
* BodyHorror: His face is awfully deformed and twisted.
* ElementalEmbodiment: He turns in a giant whose flesh is made of blue stormclouds and crowned with lightnings.
* EvilSorcerer: The first on Athas, bent on wiping out all species that he considers unnatural.
* FantasticRacism: He sent his champions to commit genocide against most of the other races in the world excluding the two original races belonging to the Blue Era, namely the halflings and the thri-kreen.
* ItsPersonal: Spend some time after his release dealing with his former champions in person.
* MakingASplash: Creates rain and floods as a side effect of his presence.
* RaceLift: The book implies he's an Halfling, but in truth he's a Pyreen.
* {{Mutant}}: He's called a mutation among the Halflings due to his grotesque appearence.
* SealedEvilInACan: His own champions ganged together to seal him inside the Black, a dimension of shadows and darkness where he's reduced to a titanic skeleton. [[spoiler: Rkard, thanks to the Obsidian Lens, is able to seal him back into his prison, while Sadira makes sure he'll never come out a second time.]]
* WeaksauceWeakness: [[spoiler: He's nearly omnipotent, but his shadow can still be targeted by spells and form a link to his prison, the Black.]]
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Wanted to revert the world to the Blue Era, but the price (the death of millions of people) is too high.

!!Borys the Dragon
The legendary Dragon from Athas, at first he was mentioned in the first two books, but became much more relevant later. Every year he gathers and sacrifices a thousand slaves from each city [[spoiler: in order to keep Rajaat sealed in Ur-Draxa]]. In the past he was Borys of Ebe, the "Butcher of Dwarves" and Champion of Rajaat. [[spoiler: He's eventually killed by Rikus.]]

* BaldOfEvil: As a human he had no hair except for a savage long beard.
* BigBad: He's the main threat of the story, an evil force who roams Athas and forces the cities into offering mass human sacrifices for an unknown purpose. [[spoiler: Turns out, he's keeping the even more monstrous Rajaat sealed.]]
* BreathWeapon: He can breathe out a stream of scorching hot sand as his breath weapon.
* TheDreaded: The Dragon terrifies everyone on Athas and noone, not even the Sorcerer Kings, dare to go against him. [[spoiler: In the King's case is because they have a deal.]]
* HeroKiller: [[spoiler:Literally with Caelum and Magnus, who he offs with extreme prejudice.]]
* KarmicDeath: He spent his life as a Champion in an attempt to eradicate the Dwarves and used to wield the Scourge of Rkard before turning against his master and sealing him in the Void. [[spoiler: He's finally slain by Rikus, an half-dwarf, with his own sword and the power of the Void.]]
* LeanAndMean: He's very slim-built as a Dragon, with the narration remarking that even an elf would look fat beside him.
* MagicKnight: During his days as Champion he was a master sorcerer and a top-notch swordsman.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: Downplayed, he frequently wanders Athas and has no trouble showing up where he wants to to lay destruction and death.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: No wings, shell-covered torso, very slim body, he spits sand and is a master of sorcery and psionics. He has wings though in the tabletop game depiction. Furthermore, Athasian Dragons are more or less the apex form of all evil spellcasters, attainable through power and bloodshed.
* WeaksauceWeakness: His stomach is full of obsidian orbs, required for his spellcasting. With the orbs gone he's forced to rely on plantlife to fuel his magic, like all sorcerers.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: His sacrifices [[spoiler: keep the even more dangerous Rajaat sealed, which is why all the Sorcerer Kings go along with it]].

!!Kalak
The evil Sorcerer King of Tyr, who's setting up a plan in order to [[spoiler: turn himself into another Dragon]]. Rules the city with an iron fist and keeps the zombified heads of Sacha and Wyan (two former Champions) with him. In the past he was a Champion known as "Ogre Doom".

* AmbitionIsEvil: As if being a cruel and sadistic tyrant wasn't enough, he wishes to further increase his power [[spoiler: by becoming a Dragon himself, putting him a step above his colleagues and killing all the people of Tyr.]]
* BaldOfEvil: He doesn't have a strand of hair on his head, which also better showcases a set of scales on his head.
* BigBad: The main antagonist and threat of the first book.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Oversees the building of the latest palace, shows little care for the suffering of the slaves and brutally executes one of his own templars to set an example for Tithian.
* EvilOldFolks: He looks extremely ancient and is completely devoid of good qualities.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Twice, first in the arena, forcing his henchmen to carry him to safety, and [[spoiler: later in his Dragon larva form, which proves fatal.]]
* OneWingedAngel: What he's going to do. Thankfully he's attacked while still in larval phase, making that a ClippedWingAngel.
* Really700YearsOld: At least more than 1500 years old.
* RedRightHand: He has claw-like hands and the sides of his cranium are covered in scales.

The lion-like ruler of Urik and BigBad of the second book. He's one of the most powerful Sorcerer Kings. During his Champion days he was known as Manu "Troll Scorcher".

* AdaptationalUgliness: The books emphasize his lionine appearence, while in the tabletop game he's depicted as a normal, handsome man.
* AnimalMotifs: Lions, as seen with the symbol of Urik, his appearence and attitude.
* BigBad: Of the second book, leading the city whose army is threatening Tyr.
* CurbStompBattle: He crushes Rikus and annihilates the Legion all by himself.
* ForTheLulz: He's been shown to be quite sadistic with his own men. Like forcing one of them to fight a sword-wielding Rikus "unarmed".
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: Despite his previous hostility with Tyr, he ultimately parts from the heroes in good terms.]]

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Despite being no less cruel than his fellow Sorcerer Monarchs, Hamanu's draconian laws enforce meritocracy and overall make Urik a powerful and safe city to live in.
* WeaksauceWeakness: [[spoiler: To ordinary steel, amazingly enough. Granted, it still takes a lot to slay him.]]
* YouHaveFailedMe: In the third book is mentioned en passant that Hamanu slaughtered the entire Lubar family for failing to stop Rikus' army.

!!Nibenay
The mysterious Sorcerer King of Nibenay, is mentioned in the third book and appears in the last one as a dragon-like humanoid. He was known as Gallard "Gnome Bane".

* AdaptationDeviation: In the game source, Nibenay is so reclusive and mysterious that no one knowns his true appearence. In the last novel he has to appear in clear sight along all the other Sorcerer Kings and appears as a smaller, humanoid counterpart of the Dragon.
* AnArmAndALeg: Loses an arm to Rikus' sword, blaming Hamanu for this. He later starts regrowing a limb, but he accidentally breaks it in Lalali-Puy's hand when she tries to reason with him.
* BattleHarem: The Templars of Nibenay are known as the "Shadow Brides" and are handpicked by the Sorcerer King for their skills and their beauty.
* CovertPervert: His templars are all women and their uniform is a simple golden skirt, and nothing else.
* EvilSorcerer: Like all the other Kings, he's a tyrant who rules from the shadows with a dispotical regimen.
* TheManBehindTheMan: Due to his manipulative nature and preference for secrecy, Nibenay prefers to let his entourage of beautiful templar concubines rule the city while he pulls the strings from the shadows and only enforce his presence on matters of personal interest.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: Invoked, he'd rather stay hidden from everyone but the closest members of the court. The only time he leaves his throne room is when Borys commands it.
* ReptilesAreAbhorrent: He's occasionally depicted as a tall, slender blue humanoid covered in scales with a human-looking face molded on a reptile's head.
* ShroudedInMyth: He calls himself the "Shadow King" and likes to stay unseen, so that noone really knows how he looks like.

!!Andropinis
The mighty and ruthless king of Balic, appears as a large, muscled humanoid with sharp teeth, large snout-like nose and protruding bones. He lends part of his fleet to Tithian in book 4 and later re-appears along the other ones in the last book. Was known in the past as Albeorn "Elf Killer".

* AdaptationalUgliness: In the original tabletop game source, Andropinis is depicted as an elderly-looking powerful sorcerer, not as a monstrous, spiky hogman.
* AdaptationalVillainy: By the time of the second edition, Andropinis was firmly Lawful Neutral and had shades of being AffablyEvil through his faux-democratic regime. In the books he's much more brutal and cruel to his Patricians.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Really arrogant and quick to resolve to violence to solve his problems.
* TheBrute: Amongst the Sorcerer Kings he's the most violent and brutal, lacking finesse and tact.
* TheCaligula: The members of his council have been blinded and had their tongues cut for no other reason than petty cruelty.
* FangsAreEvil: All his teeth are sharp tusks.
* LaserGuidedKarma: [[spoiler: Rajaat grabs him and seals him in the Black, like he and the others did to him. According to extra materials though he was released from his prison but lost his domain over Balic.]]
* PeoplesRepublicOfTyranny: Balic is no less of a tyranny than the other cities, but is disguised as a republic where Andropinis is elected (for life, obviously) and his templars are elected by the people (and eliminated by the King if not appreciated).
* PigMan: Hinted to look like one, give his description.
* SpikesOfVillainy: He has boney spikes protuding from his elbows and when he turns around Tithian notices several spikes along his spine.

!!Abalach Re
Sorceress Queen of Raam, she tries to stop our heroes with her armies. She was known as Uyness of Waverly, "Orc Plague".

* AdaptationalAttractiveness: The narrations makes no mention of the disfigured visage she sports in the tabletop game itself.
* CombatPragmatist: Her main tactic revolves around turning herself invisible and teleporting in the battlefield casting spells.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: She's the biggest obstacle fought by the heroes in the first part of the final book. Fighting her also showcases how stronger the group went.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: Given the desertic nature of Athas, her pale complexion stands out, paired with her black hair.
* FemmeFatalons: Has large claws on her fingers.
* FlunkyBoss: She brings along her whole army to lay waste on Tyr's forces, supporting her soldiers with her magic.
* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: Unlike Lalali-Puy, she's as cruel as they come.
* ImMelting: [[spoiler: She's destroyed and corroded by the black goo oozing from the fragment of the Scourge she's impaled with after Sadira twists the blade in her back.]]

Little-known Sorcerer King of Draj, looks like a bird man and seems pretty obnoxious. In the past he was the "Annihilator of Wemic".

* AGodAmI: Considers himself a god according to [[AllThereInTheManual the manual]]. Considering that he, like his peers, can bestow powers to his templars, this is not [[DeityOfHumanOrigin a completely empty claim]], though his followers still worship him out of fear of retribution.
* FeatheredFiend: He has the appearence of a monstrous bird humanoid. Oddly enough, he looks like a human in the tabletop game.
* {{Mayincatec}}: His domain of Draj is described in these terms. King Tec has also a thing for pulling the still-beating hearts out of his victims' chests.
* OverlyLongName: His full name is Tectuktitlay, but he's simply called "King Tec" in book even by the narrative.
* {{Pride}}: Even in the middle of a world-threatening situation he still wants to be called by his full name by the other Sorcerer Kings. (That being: ''the Mighty and Omnipotent Tectuktitlay, Father of Life and Master of the Two Moons'').
* SmallNameBigEgo: He's still an incredibly powerful and terrifying Sorcerer King, but he's the weakest of the Sorcerer Kings (at Challenge Rate 22, contrasting the others who are around 25/28). Nevertheless, he's incredibly full of himself and constantly tries to make his colleagues address him by his full, bombastic title. Unsurprisingly, [[spoiler: Rajaat crushes him like an ant.]]
* WeHardlyKnewYe: He's the Sorcerer King we learn the least of.

!!Lalali-Puy
The "Oba" of Gulg, appears as a beautiful black woman with fangs. She appears in the last book. Was known as Inenek "Aarakocra Scourge''.

* AdaptationalNiceGuy: She's listed as "Evil" in the tabletop game, but even there it is said that she's the closest thing the setting has to a good Sorcerer King.
* AntiquatedLinguistics: In the tabletop, it is mentioned how Lalali-Puy talks in old, outdated language that her entire court must speak as well.
* CuteLittleFangs: The only obviously monstrous trait consist in small fangs pressing against her lower lip.
* DeadpanSnarker: Enjoys throwing some snarking at the expenses of [[spoiler: the sealed tyrant Tithian]].
* MrExposition: Explains the history of old Athas to our heroes.
* NobleDemon: She's seen in a far better light than her colleagues and is basically the only Sorcerer King who's genuinely adored by her subjects.

* BullyingADragon: When fighting in the arena, he threatens to alarm Kalak about his impending assassination plot if Rikul doesn't surrender. It doesn't end well for the bug.
* ChekhovsGunman: Apparently just a big ugly beast, it turns out to be really important to the plot.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Eventually Rikus kills it with the Heartwood spear.
* KillerRabbit: At first it doesn't look impressive (compared to the other monsters faced by Rikus at least)... then it touches you with its tentacles....

* UngratefulBastard: Rikus and Neeva were about to free it, and it answers by killing one of their friends. Turns out the Gaj is quite a pragmatic bastard.

!!Anezka
A mute halfling gladiator. She's quite hard to comprehend and quite snippy at times. She helps the group in the Halfling Forest, [[spoiler: but eventually betrays them.]]

* CuteMute: She loss her vocal cords to torture and is quite attractive. She's also very snippy and hard to read.
* FragileSpeedster: She's incredibly nimble and fast due to her small size and heritage, but she lacks strength.
* {{Jerkass}}: She comes off like one, frequently showing hostility at the heroes even when they're trying to help her.

!!Ktandeo
A sorcerer of the Veiled Alliance and friend of Nok, he's the one who taught the ways of magic to Sadira.

* CastFromHitPoints: He can use the obsidian sphere on the end of his staff to draw mana directly from his own life force. [[spoiler: Unfortunately, it costs him his life.]]
* CoolOldGuy: Sadira's teacher and a wise master of magic.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Being close to Nok and the Halflings, he cares about the nature and preaches against defilers.
* OldMaster: To Sadira, his pupil in sorcery.
* YouShallNotPass: [[spoiler: Use his spells to delay a massive amount of pursuing templars to let Agis and Sadira flee to safety.]]

!!Sacha and Wyan
Two zombie heads which are seen with Kalak and later owned by Tithian. It's revealed that they were Champions who fought against the rebels and died. They were the "Kobolds Curse" and "Pixie Blight" respectively.

* DirtyCoward: While the other Champions fought impressive races such as Dwarves, Elves, Ogres and Trolls, they choose Kobolds and Pixies as their opponents. They were also among the little few Champions who didn't rebel.
* FatAndSkinny: Sacha is the fat one, while Wyan is the skinny. They're almost always together, though they don't have much of a choice.
* ImAHumanitarian: They both feed on blood and flesh.
* KickTheDog: In book 4 Wyan threatens to rip Phylo's throat off if Agis doesn't give in the bag with the Obsidian Oracle inside.
* NoSell: Apparently both are immune to mind attacks, as their minds are "resting" after completing their duty.
* SmugSnake: Both are slimy and unpleasant to allies and enemies alike.
* SinkOrSwimMentor: To Tithian, in the ways of pshycic powers and magic. They do their best to be as aggravating and unhelpful as they can.
* SmallNameBigEgo: They're all talk and pride due to being former champions, but are nothing more than glorified talking heads.
* TheUndead: Zombie heads, still fully cognizant, hungry for blood and able to float around.

A great and powerful Halfling sorcerer, who forged the Staff of Ktandeo and the Heartwood spear. He really cares about the forest and is a little hostile towards humans, but will do anything to stop Kalak.

* GreenThumb: Can manipulate wood and vegetation.
* ImplacableMan: He pursues [[spoiler: Sadira]] from his native jungle across the desert.

A thri-kreen soldier who was brainwashed by the Uriks. He fight alongside Rikus and trusts him.

* DefiantToTheEnd: He dared to bite King Hamanu as he was crushing him.
* FamilyUnfriendlyDeath: Hamanu laughs off his poison, rip off his armor and proceed to crush his flesh.

!!Tamar
One of the champions of Borys, is now a wraith. She and her companions wishes to know what happened to Borys, so she follows Rikus [[spoiler: in the form of a ruby in his chest]] and torments him.

* AnimateDead: She can bring a small valley full of skeletal remains to life with her magic.
* DoubleWeapon: Back when she was human, her weapon was a double-ended scythe made of bones.
* FantasticRacism: During one of her visions she appears to Rikus as a seductive woman barely covered in veil. When he asks her if she plans to seduce him, she angrily scoffs that she'd never degrade herself by laying with a hybrid.
* KarmaHoudiniWarranty: [[spoiler: She walks away scott free with all the atrocities and pain she put Rikus through, only to be fought by Sadira in her home turf and ending up being destroyed.]]

Sadira's father and leader of the Sun Smugglers. Sadly, his days of glory are over, and now he has gotten old and drunk, and many of his tribe are willing to overthrow him at the first chance.

* TheAlcoholic: Quite fond of alcohol and wine, which lead to him becoming the shadow of his former self.
* {{Jerkass}}: One of the greatest assholes on Athas, though he had some PetTheDog or PapaWolf moments in the past, he's currently one of the most selfish, cruel and apathetic elves in the country.
* KarmaHoudini: He gets away with all his actions, and he's never heard of again.
* ManipulativeBastard: Like his daughter, as seen above, he enjoys spending what little mental faculty he has in putting his own men and clan against one another.
* NeverMyFault: He refuses to recognize that me may have caused Magnus' mutation as he cut through his mother's belly with a knife when Sadira points out that drinking made his arms unsteady.
* RetiredBadass: Used to be one of the greatest warriors and adventurers of all Athas... and the keyword here is ''used to''.

!!Prince Dhojakt
The son of Nibenay, appears as a grotesque human-centipede hybrid with a powerful magic. He pursues Sadira from Nibenay in order to stop her from reaching the Tower.

* AtrociousArthropods: Has this motif: not only he has the lower body of a giant centipede, but he also employs centipede-like cylops as hounds and his avatar in a psychic conversation takes the form of a giant spider with his head.
* BodyHorror: As if being half centipede wasn't enough, he has large, bulging eyes, tiny ears and a large bone pone plate instead of his teeth.
* CreepyCentipedes: From the knees down he's a gigantic, black centipede.
* TheDragon: To Nibenay, his own father. Justified since Nibenay himself never leaves his abode.
* GeniusBruiser: A powerful sorcerer, and is also {{Nigh Invulnerab|ility}}le to boot, making him a deadly threat for Sadira.
* TheHeavy: He becomes the enduring main threat for most of book 3, hounding Sadira across the city and beyond.
* ImplacableMan: During the course of the book Sadira tries several tricks to get rid of him, including her most powerful spell (a destructive cloud of acid capable of wiping out a small army) right in his nostril. It did delayed him, but it only managed to destroy his nose for good.
* KnightOfCerebus: Whenever he shows up, Sadira suddenly finds herself outmatched and forced to run.
* NobleDemon: Has standards he won't violate, which makes him outraged when Sadira [[spoiler: defiles the gardens to cast magic]].
* NotDistractedByTheSexy: Sadira's charms fail on him. Given that he's usually escorted by an AmazonBrigade of bare-breasted women this may be justified.
* WhatTheHellHero: Chews Sadira out for [[spoiler: defiling the Gardens of Nibenay]].
* TheWorfEffect: New Sadira destroys him without much pain.

!!Khirdar
The new leader of the Shadow People, agrees to help Sadira and her friends to fight against Borys after knowing what happened to Umbra. [[spoiler: He's actually a servant of Rajaat and helps them only to free his master. He eventually meets his end at the hands of Rikus.]]

* TheDragon: To Umbra, whom he served as the second in command. [[spoiler: And also to Rajaat all along.]]
* EnemyMine: He decides to help Sadira against the Dragon because they're enemies. [[spoiler: Revealed that they need Borys dead in order to release Rajaat.]]

* DumbMuscle: He's even dumber than standard giants, however he can somehow use psionic powers.
* GentleGiant: Surprisingly enough, Fylo is a good soul at heart and a loyal friend.
* TheGrotesque: Unlike the humanoid Joorsh, Fylo is deformed-looking and uglier than most.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: Attacks several Joorsh Giants alone in an attempt to distort their attention from Agis and dies in combat.]]
* OurGiantsAreBigger: He's large enough to be a Joorsh, but his disfigured, grotesque visage indicates he could be something else.

!!Kester
A female tarek pirate and owner of the Dark Viper. She's hired by Agis to capture Tithian.

* ActionGirl: Being the captain of the Dark Viper, she's a force to be reckoned with in combat, especially due to her race, reknowed for physical might.
* MultiBoobage: Sports four boobs. Less appealing example than usual, considering that Tarek look like bulky humanoid bats.
* PirateGirl: She leads a gang of mercenary pirates and can be quite ruthless.
* PunchClockHero: Hired by Agis to help him in his quest, she's only in for wealth alone.

!!Mag'r
Sachem of the Joorsh Giants, wants to take the Obsidian Oracle from the Saram, and forces Agis and his crew to help him.

* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: Being the leader of the Giants, he's also the strongest warrior of the lot.
* CoolSword: Had a massive sword forged for his titanic size.
* FamilyUnfriendlyDeath: He falls in the Saram's sacred pit and is mauled by the ghosts of the deceased animals.
* OurGiantsAreBigger: Joorsh can grow to reach 20 meters of height and he's one of the largest.

Wise leader of the Saram, appears as a huge owl-headed giant. He fights to protect the Oracle but gets killed by Mag'r.

* AFatherToHisMen: During the Joorsh attack, Agis sees him ripping part of his loincloth to form a bandage for another wounded giant.

The ancient dwarven Knights who swore to kill Borys, they guards the Black Lens as Undeads, and were the first giants. [[spoiler: They're tricked by Tithian into believing that Rkard is the hero destined to kill Borys, and they eventually are killed in the fifth book.]]

** HornedHumanoid: Lord Warrior, one of the few named, has a massive set of ram horns on his head.
** WingedHumanoid: An unidentified member sports huge bat wings and attacks from above.

!!Rajaat
The creator of magic and an extremely powerful sorcerer from the past. He thought that all the "new races" were abominations who needed to be destroyed at all costs. He tried to achieve his goal with the help of his Champions, but they turned on him and sealed him away.

* AbusivePrecursors: He set out to initiate genocide against all the other non-humand and non-halfling races, lending part of his awesome powers to his Champions, the future Sorcerer Kings. However, he did not started like this.
* TheArchmage: He was the first great sorcerer of Athas and taught magic to the halflings.
* BadBoss: Despite the oath of loyalty, he planned to take back all the power bestowed to his Champions once his crusade was done. They turned against him for this.
* BodyHorror: His face is awfully deformed and twisted.
* ElementalEmbodiment: He turns in a giant whose flesh is made of blue stormclouds and crowned with lightnings.
* EvilSorcerer: The first on Athas, bent on wiping out all species that he considers unnatural.
* FantasticRacism: He sent his champions to commit genocide against most of the other races in the world excluding the two original races belonging to the Blue Era, namely the halflings and the thri-kreen.
* ItsPersonal: Spend some time after his release dealing with his former champions in person.
* MakingASplash: Creates rain and floods as a side effect of his presence.
* RaceLift: The book implies he's an Halfling, but in truth he's a Pyreen.

* SealedEvilInACan: His own champions ganged together to seal him inside the Black, a dimension of shadows and darkness where he's reduced to a titanic skeleton. The lion-like ruler of Urik and BigBad of the second book. He's one of the most powerful Sorcerer Kings. [[spoiler: He's also one of the three survivors after the battle against Rajaat.]] During his Champion days he was known as Manu "Troll Scorcher".

The mysterious Sorcerer King of Nibenay, is mentioned in the third book and appears in the last one as a dragon-like humanoid. He was known as Gallard "Gnome Bane". [[spoiler: He's one of the three surviving Sorcerer Kings.]]

Little-known Sorcerer King of Draj, looks like a bird man and seems pretty obnoxious. [[spoiler: He's smashed by Rajaat.]]. In the past he was the "Annihilator of Wemic".
