And his mom, the nice parent, apparently contracted Alzheimer's and all but lost her mind so she couldn't take care of him anymore. And now he drowns children and puts their fathers through sadistic tests all in the deluded hope that they can save them and that the kids can have fathers that are worthwhile and will always be there for them, something he never had.
