* FaceRealization: Possibly, after the climactic fight with Adam he's distraught. But it's unclear if it's because if he died he would be remembered as a martyr for Charlies cause, or if it's because he almost was one. Either way he's quick to backpedal afterwards.

Once a southern radio host and serial killer, Alastor is an enigmatic, infamously powerful Overlord known as the "Radio Demon" among other demons. He takes an interest in Charlie after seeing her on the news and offers to help her with her hotel, [[NotInThisForYourRevolution not because he believes in the cause]], but because of the entertainment value he sees in the patrons' repeated failure. He serves as the hotel's main facility manager, benefactor, as well as an occasional protector whenever any threats come about.

* DirtyCoward: Alastor can, and does, fight against gangs of demons and other Overlords. But most of those fights are against enemies who are nowhere near his power level. He puts up a good show against Adam, but when the First Man lands a hit, Alastor chooses to flee the battlefield entirely rather than stick around in a support role. Tellingly, he doesn't show up again until ''long'' after the battle is over

* EvilIsHammy: Considering he was a 1930s radio host in life, it's no surprise.

* DontLookAtMe: Downplayed, but Alastor hates being photographed with cameras or any kind of recording device. When Vaggie tries to record him for a commercial, the camera fizzles out and starts sparking.

* {{Irony}}: One of the most dangerous and feared denizens of hell, with a penchant for literally preying on other demons, has the AnimalMotif of a deer, a prey animal usually considered peaceful and harmless. Though a case of ShownTheirWork. Deer will supplement their diet with meat if it's easily available - for example, [[https://gizmodo.com/field-cameras-catch-deer-eating-birds-wait-why-do-deer-1689440870 munching on nestling birds]]. More obviously, stags can be very territorial and aggressive.

* CastingGag: Creator/AmirTalai previously played a 1920's radio host, Bert Healey, in the Hollywood Bowl production of ''Theatre/{{Annie}}''. In an amusing coincidence, Alastor references Bert Healey's song in the pilot episode.

* SouthernGentleman: He is from New Orleans, Louisiana and is quite perky and polite, albeit an evil serial killer. He even wears a fashionable suit and offers to make everyone jambalaya.

* CampStraight: Zig-zagged. Alastor is an outwardly flamboyant man whose voice frequently cracks when he's excited and who adopts many a flourish or pose that are often described by viewers as "fruity" or "zesty", but he considers himself to be this. What complicates matters is that he's actually a closeted Aromantic Usefulnotes/{{Asexual}}.

Alastor failed to realise that the sheer disparity in raw power between them completely obviated any difference in skill and as soon as Adam gets serious enough to connect with a big hit, he nearly one-shots Alastor.]]

Which in no way stops him ''actively'' antagonizing the King of Hell from the moment they meet. He almost seems to be enjoying the novelty of meeting someone with zero fear of him and having to come up with a completely new way of driving them round the bend.

* CreepyHighPitchedVoice: Alastor has a noticeably high voice, emphasized by static and adding to his overall eerie vibe.

* FurryReminder: In "Radio Killed the Video Star," before blasting away Sir Pentious, Alastor lets out an elk bugle.

* BlackEyesOfCrazy: When he transforms into his full demon form in "Radio Killed the Video Star", he has black sclerae and red irises to go along with his unhinged fanged smile.

* NoLoveForTheWicked: Alastor is completely detached from humanity, as he was a sadistic SerialKiller in life and upon entering {{Hell}} became an EvilOverlord gleefully spreading pain and misery for his own amusement. He HatesBeingTouched and is put off by flirting, which is unfortunate considering the fact that he's surrounded by sexual deviants like [[AbhorrentAdmirer Angel]]. His fellow Overlord Rosie playfully refers to him as "an ace (asexual) in the hole". Unlike most examples of this trope, however, his actual UsefulNotes/{{asexuality}} isn't portrayed as off-putting or creepy but instead just a normal aspect of him, sometimes even being PlayedForLaughs.

* DoesNotLikeMen: Attention isn't drawn to it, but he doesn't seem to click well with his own gender. The only male character he shows any respect is Zestial; meanwhile he's genuinely fond of Mimzy (before her actions put the hotel in danger), Niffty, and Rosie, and gets along well with Charlie. And even though he enjoys teasing and even harassing Vaggie, Alastor will help her if asked even if he looks quite reluctant.

* DoesNotLikeMen: Attention isn't drawn to it, but he doesn't seem to click well with his own gender. The only male character he shows any respect is Zestial; meanwhile he's genuinely fond of Mimzy (before her actions put the hotel in danger), Niffty, and Rosie, and gets along well with Charlie. And even though he enjoys teasing Vaggie, Alastor will help her if asked.

* AffablyEvil: In contrast to other demons, Alastor comes off like a polite and friendly guy, with a penchant for dumb jokes. But most of Hell's inhabitants are rightly terrified of the Radio Demon, and want as little to do with him as possible. Indeed, as friendly as he is, he clarifies very quickly that he just wants to support the hotel to see demons despair when they fail to be redeemed. He slips into FauxAffablyEvil at times, mostly when he's trying to be scary. The comic "A Day in the After Life" really emphasizes this, featuring an entire day of Alastor going calmly about his business as the denizens of Hell flee out of his way, being faultlessly polite to everyone he meets, [[spoiler:and then eating a butcher who attempted to assault a customer in his meat shop]].
