He also appears this way in any modern ''Cyborg 009'' one-shots not written or drawn by Ishinomori.
** Manga!Pyunma's hair tends to appear on the lighter side itself (either as a gray or a light brown), due to his skin being inked in black. The '60s anime works went with giving him black hair.

* CryCute: And ''how''! The moment he sheds tears [[spoiler: over losing Lina]], the audience started crying with him.

* NebulousEvilOrganisation: They succeed Black Ghost as the overarching villain group of the series. Several of the later villains the 00 cyborgs fight, including the MadScientist in the "Pharaoh Virus" arc and unlike Black Ghost, they don't seem concerned with WarForFunAndProfit so much as accruing money and power by any means.

** 004 was trying to escape East Germany during the Cold War with his fiancee Hilda so they can have a future together, but 004 botched it up, alerting authorities, and during their attempt to flee both were heavily injured, with Hilda dying. The 2001 anime cranked that part UpToEleven by having 004 lie to Hilda about successfully escaping so her heart wouldn't be broken over the fact they failed. The Archaia novel, however, switched it up by having 004 being unable to legally be with Hilda due to her being a foreigner, so he tried to smuggle her into country by plane. [[TearJerker It goes as well as you'd expect]]. The 2001 anime also revealed that Black Ghost's extensive cybernetic modifications were ''extremely painful'', to the point where he was immediately put out of commission after using them for the first time. It's a wonder he didn't commit suicide after all that crap.

* ArtEvolution: Started out with a shorter bowl cut hair style, as well as having a pointier nose that could nearly rival Jet's (this was carried over to the '60s films and '68 series and even taken UpToEleven with its size at times). His hair style changed over the course of the manga from a bowl cut to a pageboy, and his nose was altered to a more aquiline shape. His facial structure was also changed from elongated and pointy to him having a more rounded or squared off jaw.

* AlasPoorVillain: [[spoiler:0010 and his twin brother manage to run into each other while fighting 009 and their polarizing nature causes them to short-circuit and fry each other to death. But during their last moments, they touch each other in what was possibly the first time in years. The 2001 anime cranks the [[TearJerker sadness]] UpToEleven by having them outright ''cling to each other'' as they die from electrical burns; 009 notes the sad irony of 0010 being twin brothers who work together so well, yet can't even touch each other without risking death]].
