* DarthVaderClone: He has a [[DarkIsEvil black color scheme]], a CoolHelmet, a BadassCape and a [[EvilSoundsDeep booming voice]]. For bonus points, [[spoiler:the 2007 ''Manga/SkullMan'' anime reveals him to be the [[FallenHero second Skull Man]] and the [[LukeIAmYourFather possible father of Joe Shimamura]]]], though it's questionable how canon either of these things are.

* TheFaceless: We never know what he looks like behind that Skull mask. However, in the 2007 anime [[spoiler:he's a resurrected Hayato Mikogami, who is also the second Skull Man and the father of Joe Shimamura/009, though as mentioned below it's up to debate whether it's canon to any incarnation of 009 or not]].

* DarkSkinnedBlond: In the 2001 series and the Archaia graphic novel. This change, along with his overall redesign, was also implemented when Masato Hayase and Sugar Sato illustrated the "God's War" manga (though Hayase initially drew him in the blackface design as a mistake). He also appears this way in any modern Cyborg 009 one-shots not written or drawn by Ishinomori.

* AntiVillain: To the point of being a villain in name only. She's a good person at heart, but has been brainwashed by black ghost into thinking they're good people trying to better the world with their technology. The only villainous thing she actually does is try to kill Joe/009, but only because she was mislead by black ghost into thinking Joe and the other 00 cyborgs are evil. Eventually she sides with 009 and the other cyborgs.

Added DiffLines:

* AntiVillain: She isn't a bad person at all. And like Helena, the only reason she's a "villain" is because she's on black ghost's side against her own will.

* TheAgeless: Although all of the 00-Cyborgs are chronologically estimated to be in their 40's or 50's or even beyond that, they always remain the age they were captured by Black Ghost in, due to being cyborgs and thus having different bodily functions than normal humans.

* PsychicPowers: Besides 005 having nature-based empathy in the 2001 anime and onward, [[spoiler:the 00-Cyborgs get psychic upgrades thanks to 001 in the 2012 "God's War" manga and its OVA adaptation]].

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Early adaptations portrayed him as this, in line with his past as a former delinquent who was subjected to FantasticRacism for being biracial, and developing psychological issues from it. The 2001 anime and onward portrayed him as a NiceGuy.

* AnArmAndALeg: His legs tend to blow up on him quite often, and he got his arm torn off in the '79 series. [[spoiler: And in "Conclusion: God's War", he loses both his legs (along with a good deal of his lower half) not once, but TWICE within the arc. The novel version amps things up by also having him lose both of his arms by the end.]]

* DarkAndTroubledPast: Almost all of his incarnations are wanderers who suffered racial prejudice due to his Native American heritage, and remained unemployed for a long time because of his heritage. The manga has him discover his people's traditions had been turned into stereotypes for white man's entertainment, and punched out the guy who offered him the role as a chief in his production.

* PluckyComicRelief: Though unlike G.B., he does it completely straight without covering for any personal tragedy - he really is just that cheerful! Then again, considering what he had gone through right before being kidnapped, he likely sees being a 00 Cyborg as a sort-of "improvement".
