* CulturalRebel: Although not intentionally one, Examon is called this by both [=OuRyuumon=] and Dorbickmon for being so stoic. They both say that dragon Digimon are aggressive and emotional, and that Examon either think's he's better than them or is lying about his true nature.

* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch: Examon subverts the notion, in-universe, that Dramon are savage, emotional, and reckless. It's frequently discussed between him, [=OuRyuumon=] and Dorbickmon.

* SidetrackedByTheAnalogy: Examon attempts to encourage [=OuRyuumon=] by making a relationship analogy involving guns. It doesn't go well.

* AdventureDuo: Alphamon served this role with [=OuRyuumon=] back before the Order was created, with Alphamon being the sensible one and [=OuRyuumon=] being the high-maintenance sidekick.

* BattleCouple: He's one with his boyfriend, [=OuRyuumon=].

** LivingWeapon: Since[=OuRyuumon=] is the "sword", it qualifies as this. At one point, he, as the Ouryuken, attempts to act on his own, [[spoiler:when [=DarkKnightmon=] is revealing what he did to him to Alphamon.]]
** ShapeshifterWeapon: The Ouryuken, since [=OuRyuumon=], a dragon Digimon, can transform into it.

[=OuRyuumon=] is a close friend of Alphamon who lives in the headquarters with them, often going out on missions with them.[=OuRyuumon=] is an extremely hot-tempered digimon and he shows disdain towards Examon for taking (he thinks) his rightful place as a Royal Knight. He's also the Captain of the Royal Knights' Strike Forces.

* AdventureDuo: Alphamon served this role with [=OuRyuumon=] back before the Order was created, with Alphamon being the sensible one and [=OuRyuumon=] being the high-maintenance sidekick.
* AggressiveSubmissive: [=OuRyuumon=] played this role in his relationship with Alphamon. He's usually aggressive and pro-active, but when it comes to relationship roles, he's the submissive one.
* AlwaysSecondBest: [=OuRyuumon=] feels like he is this.

* BreakTheHaughty: His character arc turns out like this, ever since [=DarkKnightmon=] returns. [=DarkKnightmon=] reveals what [=OuRyuumon=] has done to him to Alphamon. This leads to Alphamon breaking up with him, dismissing him from the Order, and his capture by [=DarkKnightmon=]. The experiences lead to some needed CharacterDevelopment.
* CantCatchUp: [=OuRyuumon=] feels his way because he isn't being made a Royal Knight, which plays heavily into his insecurities.

* CrazyJealousGuy: Downplayed. [=OuRyuumon=] has shades of this and he's violently protective of Alphamon and often sees threats to his relationship with Alphamon that aren't there.

* DarkSecret: The fact that [=OuRyuumon=] [[spoiler: pushed [=DarkKnightmon=] off of a tower in an attempt to kill him after hearing about his planned coup. A fact that [=DarkKnightmon=] gleefully tells Alphamon when the time is right. Alphamon is sufficiently pissed.]]

* EmergencyTransformation: [[spoiler: When [=OuRyuumon=] is dying at the end of A Dragon in Shining Armour, Alphamon jogresses with him into Alphamon Ouryuken in order to share his wounds, thereby diminishing them with his own data. The fusion is temporary.]]

* HollywoodAtheist: Seems to be mostly averted. [=OuRyuumon=] is described as not believing in any of the Digital World's religions. While he has a nasty personality at times, there's nothing to suggest that he's atheist for any particularly dramatic reason or that his personality stems from his atheism.

* InsecureLoveInterest: He is this to Alphamon. [=OuRyuumon's=] jealousy towards Omegamon, [=DarkKnightmon=], and Examon stems from the fact that [=OuRyuumon=] is insecure and views Alphamon as being above him. His obsession with becoming a Royal Knight is due to him wanting to be on equal footing with Alphamon.
* ItsAllAboutMe: [=OuRyuumon=] has this mindset for most of A Dragon in Shining Armour until his character development. He constantly views events in how they affect him.

* PsychoSidekick: [=OuRyuumon=] has a mild case of this with Alphamon. They've been friends since they were kids, but [=OuRyuumon's=] a lot more morally grey than Alphamon is. This is evidenced when [[spoiler:[=OuRyuumon=] tries to kill [=DarkKnightmon=] for conspiring to overthrow Alphamon. This eventually comes back to bite him in the ass when Alphamon finds this piece of information out, as Alphamon could overlook [=OuRyuumon's=] other flaws, but not murder.]]

* SpiritedCompetitor: [=OuRyuumon=] thrives on competition. However, his competition mentality makes him feel threatened by those who he considers rivals for something, such as for Alphamon's affection or a spot as one of the Royal Knights.
* StraightGay: [=OuRyuumon=] is gay, but he hides this from everybody else, well enough that nobody suspects his homosexuality.

* UnscrupulousHero: [=OuRyuumon=] has no qualms about [[spoiler: trying to kill [=DarkKnightmon=] when he found out about his imminent betrayal, and he suggested it again when he was worried that [=DarkKnightmon=] would tell the others that he tried to kill him.]] Also, his BloodKnight tendencies feed into this role, although [=OuRyuumon=] generally is well-intentioned.

* BestServedCold: He waits until after he escapes from prison to reveal to Alphamon what [=OuRyuumon=] did to him.

* BreakThemByTalking: [=DarkKnightmon=] is fond of this technique. [[spoiler: He managed to forcibly break Alphamon and [=OuRyuumon's=] powerful jogress evolution, Ouryuken, by making Alphamon realize that [=OuRyuumon=] defenestrated him. He also used this again on [=OuRyuumon=] after taking him prisoner.]]

* DestinationDefenestration: [[spoiler:After hearing [=DarkKnightmon=] conspiring with [=MirageGaogamon=], [=OuRyuumon=] pushes him off one of the castle towers.]]

* {{Foil}}: [=SkullKnightmon=] and [=DeadlyAxemon=] are foils to Alphamon and [=OuRyuumon=] respectively. [=SkullKnightmon=] and Alphamon are both noble, wise, charismatic, and want the best for the Digital World, but [=SkullKnightmon=] is more ambitious and is willing to go to the lengths that Alphamon isn't. [=DeadlyAxemon=] and [=OuRyuumon=] are both [=SkullKnightmon=] and Alphamon's trusted companions. They're both weapon-based Digimon who can fuse with their partners into stronger forms. They're both aggressive, brutal, and vicious [[BloodKnight Blood Knights]], but [=DeadlyAxemon=] is slightly more brutal than [=OuRyuumon=] and didn't undergo the same character development.

* PragmaticVillainy: Aside from beating the stuffing out of [=OuRyuumon=] for pushing him off that wall, he doesn't really do anything that doesn't further his plans.

* RageBreakingPoint: He moves against Alphamon earlier than he would have after being pushed off the castle wall by [=OuRyuumon=].

* {{Jerkass}}: Relative to the rest of [=DarkKnightmon=]'s group, though he's still way more tactful than Duftmon of [=OuRyuumon=].

* TheTeam: The Royal Knights are this, but there are too many members to be the FiveManBand.

* PoisonousFriend: See below. He is willing to do whatever it takes for Alphamon, especially when he overhears [=DarkKnightmon's=] coup plans. [[spoiler: In this case, he tries to kill [=DarkKnightmon=] before the latter can attack the Royal Knights.]] Alphamon is appalled when he hears what [=OuRyuumon=] did.

* DarkSkinnedRedhead: He has a black carapace and red hair, as per his species.

* DarkSkinnedBlond: He has a dark complexion and, since his fall, he has white hair (yet his beard is still black).

* SuperOCD: Duftmon is a hyper-organized individual, but when this is pointed out to him with how he gets with the library he denies OCD being the cause. When it's pointed out how he seems to do this to avoid dealing with "variables" though he seems unaware he was doing it at all though and his HeroicBSOD makes it more ambiguous.
