!The Royal Knights

!!The Royal Knights as a whole
The Royal Knights are a group of eleven [[spoiler: (eventually thirteen)]] powerful Digimon who operate as the defenders of the Digital World and its network security. It started as six Digimon who came together under Imperialdramon Paladin Mode’s request, and eventually grew as new members were recruited. It has under it a capable Order of Digimon who form a small but capable army and a variety of other roles.
----
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: The Royal Knights are the highest ranks in the Order, and they're a major power in the Digital World, but they can take on swaths of enemies in combat.
* BackToBackBadasses: This happens a few times. Once, when Dynasmon, Sleipmon, Craniamon, and [=UlforceVeedramon=] are rescuing [=Ouryumon=]. It happens again in Holy War when Craniamon and Dynasmon are ambushed.
* BadassCrew: They're all Royal Knights for a reason.
* BashBrothers: Most of the Royal Knights are this with each other.
* BigDamnHeroes: This is their M.O. as well as how they're perceived by most regular Digimon.
* TheChosenMany: The Royal Knights are all chosen (either by Imperialdramon or Alphamon) for the task of protecting the Digital World.
* CodeOfHonour: The Royal Knights have a code that outlines their priorities and morals.
* TheFettered: They consider safeguarding the rights of the Digimon under their protection to be as important as maintaining order. [[spoiler:[=DarkKnightmon=] disagreed with this philosophy.]]
* ImpartialPurposeDrivenFaction: While the Royal Knights are above politics when it comes to defending Network Security, they occasionally make alliances because it makes their job of fighting lawbreakers easier.
* KnightInShiningArmour: Being an order of knights, they all serve in this role, although how well they actually fit the image depends on the actual knight.
* NoOneGetsLeftBehind: Rule three of the Royal Knights' Code: a Royal Knight never leaves another Royal Knight in his time of need.
* OneManArmy: Each of the Royal Knights can be considered this.
* TheOrder: The Royal Knights are a military-religious order of holy knight Digimon, sworn to defend the Digital World and the Digimon in it from threats.
* ThePaladin: The Royal Knights are all holy knight Digimon.
* TheTeam: The Royal Knights are a group of eleven [[spoiler: (eventually thirteen)]] powerful Digimon who operate as the defenders of the Digital World and its network security.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Generally speaking, they can cooperate well with each other, but personality conflicts are bound to happen.
* TrueCompanions: Most of the Royal Knights feel this way about the rest of the Royal Knights.

[[folder: Examon]]
!!Examon
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/examon_cs.jpg]]
Examon is the eleventh and most recently inducted member of the Royal Knights. He was the defender of the United Dramonic Coatlition, a conglomeration of Dramon-run states that unified together to benefit from Examon's protection against raiders and the like. He's extremely level-headed and is used to doing things in a solitary manner. His arrival isn't met with the warmest reception, due to the fact that he's a dragon.
----
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Examon gets this treatment from a few of the Royal Knights, but just as many come to his defence. Examon initially thinks that joining the Royal Knights was a bad idea because of it, but Dukemon helps him realize that the opportunity is too great for him to quit just because of naysayers, and he decides to just do his best to ignore it, though it occasionally does get under his scales.
* ArmoredDragons: Examon has chrome digizoid armour and is very much a dragon.
* TheAtoner: Examon became the warrior that he did to make up for accidentally attacking Strikedramon when he was young.
* BeamSpam: Pendragon's Glory.
* BeingPersonalIsntProfessional: Examon is this way most of the time, though he does soften up in certain situations.
* BerserkButton: An unusual example in that his was physical rather than emotional. Touching one of the scales under his jaw caused him to go into a turbo-charged UnstoppableRage until he trained himself to overcome it.
* {{BFG}}: The Ambrosius.
* BoomStick: The Ambrosius can fire both shells and lasers from it.
* ChildhoodFriends: Examon was this with Dorbickmon up until the incident.
* ColdSniper: He's incredibly calm and his usual method of taking out his opponents is sniping them with his [[{{BFG}} Ambrosius 'lance']]
* CreateYourOwnVillain: Examon accidentally attacking Dorbickmon and leaving him for dead was the catalyst for Dorbickmon's revenge quest.
* CulturalCringe: He begins to feel this in Holy War when he realises he's not like most Dramon.
* CulturalRebel: Although not intentionally one, Examon is called this by both Ouryumon and Dorbickmon for being so stoic. They both say that dragon Digimon are aggressive and emotional, and that Examon either think's he's better than them or is lying about his true nature.
* DragonKnight: He is the "Dragon in shining armour" in question.
* ExperiencedProtagonist: Examon is already a very competent fighter at the start of the story, which is why Alphamon wants him to join.
* FightingYourFriend: Exmaon is forced to fight [[spoiler: Dorbickmon]] but he really doesn't want to.
* FishOutOfWater: Examon is definitely this upon joining the Royal Knights. He's not used to working in a team setting at all. [[spoiler: He does start to adapt and get used to the idea, though.]]
* FriendlySniper: While cold and driven during missions, it doesn't make Examon any less friendly to the other Royal Knights.
* TheHermit: He ran away from his hometown after hurting Strikedramon during an UnstoppableRage and isolated himself until he was able to suppress said rage.
* HomeSweetHome: Examon's conflict between staying in the UDC and protecting it versus joining the Royal Knights and defending the whole Digital World is something that he has trouble with throughout the two stories.
* HumbleHero: Examon is quite humble and submissive at times, especially so when joining the Royal Knights.
* JoustingLance: The Ambrosius is a sort of one.
* KillSat: 'Pendragon’s Glory' involves sniping targets with a laser from the stratosphere. His aim is that good.
* LivingWeapon: Not so much a weapon, but his Caledfwlch wings are sentient and can fly on their own while Examon can focus on combat.
* LonersAreFreaks: His being unused to dealing with other digimon is due to his isolation and the fact that he does his job alone.
* LongRangeFighter: Examon specializes in long range attacks, mostly lasers and shells from his lance, and he typically tries to avoid close quarters combat unless he's using his Draconic Impact attack or if he can't help it.
* MustMakeAmends: Part of why he wants to make the world a better place is to make up for mortally wounding Strikedramon.
* MyGreatestFailure: Attacking Strikedramon in a berserk rage was this to him. It's why he prefers to be alone and why he's as stoic as he is.
* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch: Examon subverts the notion, in-universe, that Dramon are savage, emotional, and reckless. It's frequently discussed between him, Ouryumon and Dorbickmon.
* NaiveNewcomer: Examon serves this role when he joins the Royal Knights. As he's spent most of his time in the United Dramonic Coalition, he isn't the most worldly digimon, so when he joins the Royal Knights, we see it from his PointOfView and he occasionally serves as TheWatson.
* NoSocialSkills: He has a mild case of this. Nowhere near as bad as Duftmon, though. Due to his solitary lifestyle, which consisted almost solely as serving as the UDC's protector, and the fact that he's very used to doing things in his own way without having to account for other digimon, Examon's social skills and behaviour are... lacking, as we see early on. He slowly gets more sociable with time as he adapts to the new environment, but he still has a ways to go.
* NotSoDifferentRemark: To Duftmon, ironically. Several of the Royal Knights allude to this. They're both very logical, aloof, and socially inadept. However, one's a HumbleHero while the other's an InsufferableGenius.
* NotSoStoic: Rushes off to defend his homeland against Duftmon's orders when multiple areas come under attack. Alphamon suspends him from doing missions for week as punishment.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Bipedal but not quite humanoid.
* PowerIncontinence: His rage in response to the reverse scale being touched may have been a form of this.
* ProdigalHero: Examon's backstory and arc generally follows this pattern. Examon accidentally wounds his best friend when he was young, so he ran away and exiled himself to the mountains to train. When he was strong enough, he became the defender of the UDC. Later, when he joined the Royal Knights, his past (in the form of Dorbickmon) came back to haunt him and he was forced to return to the UDC to confront him.
* RedIsHeroic: Examon is, more or less, the protagonist of the story, and he's coated with red scales.
* SacrificedBasicSkillForAwesomeTraining: He was self-trained and is very good at his job as a protector of the UDC, but very much at the cost of social skills.
* SidetrackedByTheAnalogy: Examon attempts to encourage Ouryumon by making a relationship analogy involving guns. It doesn't go well.
* TheSpock: Examon is incredibly logical, calm, and, at times, cold, though it's without any malice. The aloofness stems more from the emotional distancing he developed over the years from being on his own and having an important job to do.
* TheStoic: Examon is very in control of his emotions. The most emotion that he's ever expressed so far has been mild worry. But see NotSoStoic above.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Despite his icy demeanour, it's clear that Examon truly does care about digimon (particularly Dukemon), just not the evil ones.
* TrickBullet: The Ambrosius can fire different types of shells including viruses, incendiary rounds, freezing rounds, electric rounds, and RecursiveAmmo.
* {{Workaholic}}: The fact that, when Alphamon asked Examon if there was anything that he'd like to bring from home when moving to his new living quarters in the Royal Knights' headquarters, he responded with "the ammunition I've been working on" should be a clue.

[[folder: Alphamon]]
!!Alphamon
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alphamon_cs.jpg]]
Alphamon is the leader of the Royal Knights, "The Lord of the Empty Seat", entrusted with the position by Imperialdramon Paladin Mode. He is a just, fair, and capable leader. While a natural leader, he does find it difficult dealing with all of the different personalities at times.
----
* AFatherToHisMen: Alphamon cares deeply about the Royal Knights and the Digimon of the Order, and he takes an interest in their wellbeing.
* AdventureDuo: Alphamon served this role with Ouryumon back before the Order was created, with Alphamon being the sensible one and Ouryumon being the high-maintenance sidekick.
* AllLovingHero: Perhaps a downplayed example, since it isn't as obvious as Sleipmon or Hackmon, but Alphamon is always opting for a peaceful solution rather than violence, if it can be helped. He almost always attempts to reach out to the enemy to try to convince them to surrender or stop what they're doing before attacking. He forms friendships with even the most unlikely Digimon and is often able to sway them.
* BadassCape: He's got a blue and white mantle.
* BadToTheLastDrop: Alphamon's coffee is terrible at the best of times.
* BattleCouple: He's one with his boyfriend, Ouryumon.
* BeamSpam: His Digitalize of Soul.
* BeneathTheMask: On the surface, Alphamon is a strong, reasonable, competent, and warm leader. However, he makes a point to hide his issues such as guilt, the burden of responsibility, and his sexuality in order to maintain this image.
* BenevolentBoss: To the Order.
* {{BFS}}: The Ouryuken.
** LivingWeapon: Since Ouryumon is the "sword", it qualifies as this. At one point, he, as the Ouryuken, attempts to act on his own, [[spoiler:when [=DarkKnightmon=] is revealing what he did to him to Alphamon.]]
** ShapeshifterWeapon: The Ouryuken, since Ouryumon, a dragon Digimon, can transform into it.
* BigBrotherMentor: Alphamon often serves this role to the other Royal Knights, talking them through their problems and giving them advice, but he still sees them largely as his friends.
* BlackKnight: Inverted. He looks the part, but he's one of the protagonists.
* BladeSpam: The Alpha [=InForce=] lets him do this by stopping time.
* BookSmart: Alphamon is quite learned, though not as notably as Duftmon is.
* CanNotSpitItOut: About his relationship with Ouryumon due to caring about how others perceive him. [[spoiler:It comes back to haunt him when Omegamon finds out.]]
* TheChainsOfCommanding: Alphamon occasionally struggles with dealing with all of the big personalities in the Order. The chains have become rather heavy lately.
* CharacterTics: He tends to stroke his chin a lot when he's thinking.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: With Ouryumon.
* ChildhoodFriends: He and Ouryumon have been best friends since childhood.
* CombatClairvoyance: Alphamon's Alpha InForce works this way.
* CoolSword: The Seiken Gradalpha, which is made of light.
* CordonBleughChef: Alphamon, who makes his tea and coffee with various exotic "additives".
* CreateYourOwnVillain: Alphamon feels responsible for [=DarkKnightmon=] becoming evil since he made him feel marginalized.
* CulturedBadass: Alphamon has a fondness for tea and is probably among the most gentlemanly of the Royal Knights.
* DarkIsNotEvil: He's clad in black armour, but he's the heroic leader of the Order of the Royal Knights.
** BlackKnight: Subverted. Alphamon is coated in pale-black armour, however, he doesn't serve in an antagonistic role and is the leader of the Royal Knights.
* {{Determinator}}: He has many instances of this, especially during [[spoiler: his fight against Omegamon Zwart]].
* TheFettered: Alphamon is bound by rules of morality. This was the basis for his disagreement with [=DarkKnightmon=].
* FightingYourFriend: [[spoiler: Alphamon is forced to fight Omegamon Zwart in the final battle.]]
* FusionDance: With [=OuRyumon=] for his Ouryuken form.
* GuileHero: Alphamon is one of the most charming and politically minded of the Royal Knights, and he prefers to use diplomacy to settle disputes rather than resorting to violence, when possible.
* GuiltComplex: Alphamon tends to put a lot of guilt on himself when he feels that he did something wrong.
* HappilyAdopted: He was adopted as a child by [=WarGreymon=] X-Antibody and [=MetalGarurumon=] X-Antibody.
* TheHermit: Alphamon is called "the Aloof Hermit" and he shares some personality traits of the Hermit such as self-imposed isolation. [[spoiler: Specifically, Alphamon isolated himself on a mountain for his part in the Death-X Incident.]]
* HisQuirkLivesOn: Alphamon often goes out to the parapets of the castle alone when he wants to think. This was something that [=DarkKnightmon=] often did.
* HumbleHero: He is very insistent that, despite being the technical leader of the Royal Knights, he is no more important than any of them. This is in part due to his personality and in part due to the fact that he feels partially responsible for [=DarkKnightmon's=] rebellion.
* InstantRunes: Alphamon creates these every time he summons the Seiken Gradalpha, jogresses, and summons attacks.
* InternalizedCategorism: Alphamon has some insecurities about his bisexuality and how it would be viewed by other Digimon if he ever came out about it.
* TheKirk: Alphamon usually mediates between the more emotional knights like Dukemon and the more logical knights like Duftmon.
* LaserBlade: The Seiken Grad Alpha.
* TheLeader: An example of the levelheaded variety. Rather than the leader, he's the first among equals.
* MarriedToTheJob: Part of the reason why Alphamon has been having relationship issues.
* MasterOfTheMixedMessage: He has some problems with this, particularly with Omegamon.
* MyGreatestFailure: Alphamon considers letting [=DarkKnightmon=] feeling alienated enough to rebel against him to be this. Also [[spoiler: being the prototype for the Death-X Incident.]]
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: His deceit and insecurity about his sexuality hurt Omegamon and ultimately [[spoiler: lead to the events that cause Omegamon to corrupt into Omegamon Zwart, giving [=DarkKnightmon=] lots of momentum in the final third of the story.]]
* OfficerAndAGentleman: Alphamon is always polite, courteous, and adheres to proper etiquette.
* OnlySaneMan: He sometimes feels like this.
* PowerCrystal: He has one on each palm, from which he fires some of his attacks.
* PowerPalms: Alphamon fires beams from his palms with his Digitalize of Soul attack.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: He serves this role in the Royal Knights, and he's pretty fair and even-handed.
* RedBaron: "The Aloof Hermit".
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Zigzagged. Alphamon has gold eyes, but they turn red when he gets serious. However, his red eyes aren't indicative of evil or ill-intent.
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue to [=Ouryumon's=] red.
* SlaveToPR: This is one of Alphamon's most prominent flaws during the story. It's the reason why he won't come out as bisexual, which leads to [[PoorCommunicationKills a lot of misunderstandings with others.]]
* StraightGay: He's managed to avoid letting on that he is in a relationship with Ouryumon.
* SummonMagic: In the final battle, Alphamon uses a variation of his Digitalize of Soul attack to summon a giant dragon-monster from another dimension, instead of his usual beam attack.
* TechnicolorEyes: He normally has gold irises in his relaxed state, but when he's angry or intense, his eyes turn a deep crimson.
* TimeMaster: Alphamon can manipulate time in battle using his Alpha inForce, but it's ''incredibly'' draining so he seems to use it only as a last resort.
* TimeStandsStill: His Alpha [=InForce=] power lets him stop time in order to dish out a huge number of attacks at once.

[[folder: Omegamon]]
!!Omegamon
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/omegamon_cs.jpg]]
Omegamon is Alphamon's second-in-command, primary adviser, and trusted friend. He is also one of the original Royal Knights trained by Imperialdramon Paladin Mode.
----
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: [[spoiler: [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation Toward Alphamon, possibly.]] It becomes the main source of friction between them as of their mini-arc.]]
** [[spoiler:Played with. He is attracted to Alphamon and while Alphamon does have some feelings for him, he wasn't in the best of shape mentally when he admitted it, so Omegamon refused to pursue anything and Alphamon is no longer pursuing any romantic involvement as of the second book.]]
* AmbiguouslyGay: It's unclear whether or not Omegamon is gay or not. He may be romantically interested in Alphamon, especially during some of their interactions since Chapter 10 of A Dragon in Shining Armour, but it's never been explicitly confirmed yet.
* BadassCape: He has a white and red cape.
* BadassInDistress: [[spoiler: When Omegamon is captured by [=DarkKnightmon=].]]
* {{BFG}}: The Garuru Cannon.
** ArmCannon: The Garuru Cannon envelopes his right arm, though it's removable.
* BecameTheirOwnAntithesis: [[spoiler: Due to his represses feelings and exposure to dark data, Omegamon is transformed into Omegamon Zwart. He goes from a loyal, caring, subservient warrior to a cold, resentful, dark knight full of hatred who won't hesitate to attack his friends.]]
* BeneathTheMask: Even though Omegamon is normally calm, kind, and reliable, we learn in Chapter 28 through [[spoiler: Omegamon Zwart, that he secretly felt taken advantage of by Alphamon's lies and Imperialdramon Paladin Mode leaving. But he was corrupted by dark data at the time, which was said to blow negative emotions out of proportion. However, Omegamon says that that meant those feelings still existed.]]
* BewareTheQuietOnes: He may be reserved but when angered [[spoiler: or Dark Evolved]] he can be a terrifying, one man army.
* {{BFS}}: The Grey Sword.
** BladeBelowTheShoulder: The Grey Sword covers Omegamon's left arm, but it can be removed.
* BigEater: Omegamon can really eat despite his unassuming appearance. He probably gets it from the Greymon side of his personality.
* {{Brainwashed}}: [[spoiler: [=DarkKnightmon=] uses a dark rift to do this when Omegamon refuses to help him. Aside from unquestioningly following [=DarkKnightmon=]'s orders, he seems to be more or less as rational as he was before.]]
* BrainwashResidue: In Holy War, [[spoiler: Omegamon is still plagued by his brainwashing into Omegamon Zwart. He has nightmares, and he worries that the darkness of Zwart still remains inside of him.]]
* CanNotSpitItOut: The various feelings that Omegamon has bottled up inside about Alphamon and Imperialdramon: Paladin Mode. [[spoiler: It isn't until he becomes Omegamon Zwart that his negative feelings reach a breaking point and he unleashes them in a violent way.]]
* ChildhoodFriends: Omegamon is childhood friends with Imperialdramon Paladin Mode.
* TheConsigliere: He serves this role to Alphamon, always giving him advice when he needs it.
* TheCorruption: [[spoiler: When he gets exposed to a dark rift by [=DarkKnightmon=] for mind control purposes, he feels the dark data from the rift spreading through his body in this way.]]
* {{Dandere}}: Omegamon is one of these. He's typically quiet and shy, but he speaks up a lot more around people that he's comfortable with. Particularly Alphamon.
* DidYouThinkICantFeel: [[spoiler: Nearly said verbatim by Omegamon Zwart during his MotiveRant.]]
* DorkKnight: Omegamon is the quintessential KnightInShiningArmor as well as a professional commander but he's a bit socially awkward and is afraid of public speaking.
* DoubleTap: Frequently [[spoiler: as Omegamon Zwart.]]
* EvilCostumeSwitch: [[spoiler:The colors of his armor and eyes are inverted as Omegamon Zwart.]]
* EvilMeScaresMe: In Holy War, Omegamon constantly fears [[spoiler: losing himself to Omegamon Zwart again.]]
* ExtremeDoormat: [[spoiler: Omegamon Zwart believed himself to be this before his FaceHeelTurn. He said that he was weak and passive and that people were TakingAdvantageOfGenerosity. Now that he was "thinking for himself", Omegamon Zwart believed he was stronger because of it. However, Alphamon tells him that he was already strong and that they valued him more than just as a doormat.]]
* FightingFromTheInside: Omegamon tries to do this [[spoiler: in the final battle when he's Omegamon Zwart and has been talked down by Alphamon. He manages to get a hold of himself long enough for Alphamon to purify him.]]
* IKnowYoureInThereSomewhereFight: [[spoiler: Omegamon is on the receiving end of this as Alphamon tries to talk him down.]]
* LossOfIdentity: Omegamon says that this is one of his greatest fears, and it is something that bothers him due to him being a fused Digimon.
* NiceGuy: Omegamon is understanding, empathetic, and a steadfast friend.
* NumberTwo: He's unofficially the second-in-command to Alphamon.
* ThePowerOfFriendship: Omegamon's friends are incredibly important to him and he would do anything for them. This is due in part to his strong sense of friendship inherited from his [=MetalGarurumon=] form.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: As [[spoiler: Omegamon Zwart.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue to Dukemon's red.
* TheReliableOne: He often gives level headed advice to Alphamon and he's extremely loyal to him.
* SecretKeeper: He finds out that Alphamon and Ouryumon are romantically involved and promises to keep their secret.
** [[spoiler: He keeps said secret even after being corrupted. What this means is anyone's guess.]]
* ShadowArchetype: [[spoiler:Omegamon Zwart is this to him.]]
* SociallyAwkwardHero: Omegamon is one of the most skilled Royal Knights and will never hesitate to step forward in battle. However, he's afraid of public speaking and being the center of attention. He's far more comfortable speaking casually with his friends.
* SplitPersonalityMerge: This happened to Omegamon when his lower forms [=WarGreymon=] and [=MetalGarurumon=] fused prior to the story.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: [[spoiler: Omegamon Zwart.]]
* SwordAndGun: The Grey Sword and the Garuru Cannon.

[[folder: Dukemon]]
!!Dukemon
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dukemon_cs.jpg]]
Dukemon is the third-in-command of the Royal Knights and one of the original members trained by Imperialdramon Paladin Mode. He was the first digimon to befriend Examon. He has a big heart and he wears it on his sleeve.
----
* ApocalypseMaiden: Dukemon fears that he is this due to the Digital Hazard that he has.
* BadassCape: Dukemon has a big red cape. He likes the way it looks.
* BadPowersGoodPeople: Dukemon has the potential to corrupt the stability of the Digital World, but he's a pretty nice guy.
* BeneathTheMask: Dukemon is a light-hearted, courageous, kind and heroic Digimon. Inside of him is the Digital Hazard, a program that could cause a massive cataclysm. It's something that he's deeply ashamed of and doesn't like to broadcast it unless he feels that the Digimon deserves to know.
* BoringReturnJourney: After [[spoiler:escaping the D-Brigade]], he and Dynasmon have a pretty uneventful return trip to the Royal Knights' castle aside from an encounter with Black Pincer Company.
* BrokenAce: Underneath Dukemon's confident exterior is a mass of insecurities about the Digital Hazard he possesses within him.
* TheChainsOfCommanding: When Alphamon and Omegamon go to investigate Baromon's prophecy, Dukemon has to deal with all of their responsibilities. Duftmon doesn't make it easy for him.
* ChestInsignia: The Digital Hazard symbol.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Dukemon lost his hometown to bandits, and, as a result, he [[spoiler: very nearly caused a catastrophe when the Digital Hazard activated when he evolved to Dukemon.]]
* DoomedHometown: Dukemon's hometown was destroyed by raiders, the aftermath of which was seen in a flashback. It prompted him to evolve from [=MegaloGrowmon=] to Dukemon.
* DragonKnight: Like Dynasmon, Magnamon, and [=UlforceVeedramon=], he's more of a DraconicHumanoid than Examon or Ouryumon are.
* EnemyWithin: The Digital Hazard is portrayed as this during Dukemon's flashback.
* TheHeart: Outside of maybe Sleipmon, Dukemon best serves this role for the Royal Knights. He's always ready to offer emotional support to others and he always makes decisions based on morality.
* HellishPupils: Dukemon was described as briefly having these during a flashback where [[spoiler: he first evolved to Dukemon and was being taken over by the Digital Hazard.]]
* HeterosexualLifePartner: Grani is this to him.
* InternalizedCategorism: Dukemon has major insecurities about the Digital Hazard being a part of him. His self-doubt about him being a virus-type with that destructive program eats away at his self-confidence.
* JoustingLance: The Gram.
* TheLancer: While Omegamon serves as Alphamon's NumberTwo, Dukemon serves the role of TheLancer to Alphamon and Omegamon, who are more calm and level headed, where Dukemon provides more direct and emotional perspective.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: The Aegis.
* TheMcCoy: Dukemon is a pretty emotional guy, and he usually comes down on the side of Sleipmon when it comes to what's morally unacceptable to do.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: When Dukemon's your friend, he tends to like to sling his arm around your back or shoulders or some such. He doesn't really mind that it makes some people uncomfortable.
* OxymoronicBeing: Dukemon is capable of destroying the Digital World with his Digital Hazard, yet he serves as its protector.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Dukemon reveals himself to be this thanks to the Digital Hazard, a super destructive program that's a part of him.
* PowerLimiter: The Digital Hazard and Zero Unit symbols on his body help to pacify the Digital Hazard.
* RedOniBlueOni: He's the red to Grani's and Omegamon's blue.
* SwordBeam: Lightning Joust/Royal Sabre.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: At times, the Royal Knights have trouble working with each other, though they are generally pretty cohesive.
* ThrowingYourShieldAlwaysWorks: Dukemon throws his shield like a discus occasionally. He doesn't make a habit of it though, as it's much more useful as a WaveMotionGun.
* WaveMotionGun: Final Elysion.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/magnamon_cs.jpg]]
Magnamon is a small but strong Royal Knight and one of the original members trained by Imperialdramon Paladin Mode. He's quite nice and was one of the first to warm to Examon.
----
* AlwaysSecondBest: Magnamon felt this way about his father, who was a renowned hero, which gave Magnamon an inferiority complex.
* AttentionWhore: Downplayed. Magnamon likes the attention that comes with being a hero.
* AsskickingPose: Magnamon enjoys striking these before a fight.
* BadassAdorable: Deconstructed in-universe. Magnamon is actually pretty insecure about the way he looks because he thinks that people won't take him seriously as a Royal Knight.
* BerserkButton: Don't tease him about his size.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Magnamon is a kind and caring Digimon, but if you hurt his friends, he will hunt you down.
* BlingBlingBang: Magnamon wears gold digizoid armor.
* DragonKnight: Like Dukemon, Dynasmon, and [=UlforceVeedramon=], he's more of a DraconicHumanoid than Examon or Ouryumon are.
* HeightAngst: While Magnamon doesn't really angst about being short, he's openly annoyed or exasperated whenever the Royal Knights tease him about his height. It comes to a head in his and [=UlforceVeedramon's=] mini-arc chapter.
* IAmNotMyFather: Magnamon reveals that he hates being compared to his father, not because he doesn't like him, but because his father was a hero and he doesn't want to live in his shadow. He wanted to forge his own identity and make a name for himself on his own merits.
* MacrossMissileMassacre: Downplayed with his Plasma Shoot/Magna Blaster attack.
* NiceGuy: Probably one of the nicest and most supportive of the Royal Knights.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Magnamon is by far the shortest of the Royal Knights, usually just reaching the shoulders of the other knights, but he's as equally powerful as they are.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Inverted as well. Magnamon's a nice guy.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Dynasmon]]
!!Dynasmon
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dynasmon_cs.jpg]]
Dynasmon is the physical powerhouse of the Royal Knights. He likes to take it easy in his spare time and he's willing to give everyone a chance. He's one of the original Royal Knights trained by Imperialdramon Paladin Mode.
----
* AllYourPowersCombined: He can use [[{{Pun}} elements]] of the Warrior Ten's abilities.
* BeneathTheMask: For Dynasmon's relaxed, friendly demeanour, he has a lot of trust issues.
* BodyguardBetrayal: Dynasmon was a bodyguard for a ruler who became increasingly paranoid. When the ruler took his oppression too far and ended up beating Dynasmon for refusing him, Dynasmon evolved to his current form and killed him. The whole event had a profound effect on Dynasmon.
* BoisterousBruiser: Dynasmon is one of the physically strongest of the Royal Knights and he's also one of the most fun, being an ex-mercenary who enjoys frequenting the local tavern.
* BoringReturnJourney: After [[spoiler:escaping the D-Brigade]], he and Dukemon have a pretty uneventful return trip to the Royal Knights' castle aside from an encounter with Black Pincer Company.
* ChivalrousPervert: Dynasmon has a soft spot for beautiful women, but he would never do anything underhanded towards them. He frequently flirts with [=AncientMermaidmon=] of the Warrior Ten.
* DoomedHometown: Dynasmon's hometown was destroyed by raiders, prompting him to become a bodyguard.
* DragonKnight: Like Dukemon, Magnamon, and [=UlforceVeedramon=], he's more of a DraconicHumanoid than Examon or Ouryumon are.
* ElementalPowers: He can use all of them via the gems on his hands.
* FailureKnight: As a result of his BodyguardBetrayal.
* FriendlyRivalry: With Gankoomon.
* GrewASpine: In Dynasmon's backstory, he was a bodyguard to a [=TonosamaGekomon=] lord. As the ruler became paranoid and violent towards the populace, Dynasmon had misgivings about serving him but nonetheless remained loyal. It wasn't until [=TonasamaGekomon=] wanted him to execute the leader of a resistance group that Dynasmon (then a Perfect level) finally said no. The lord turned on him and started giving him a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown and planned to execute the leader himself. He evolved into his Dynasmon form and killed the leader before he could
* HandBlast: Dragon's Roar.
* HornedHumanoid: As part of his dragon-ness.
* NeverBeHurtAgain: In Holy War, Dynasmon says to Craniamon that after he had his deep sense of loyalty taken advantage of by a [=TonosamaGekomon=] that he worked for, he closed himself off from getting close to others so that it would never happen again.
* MrViceGuy: He drinks the most out of the Royal Knights and apparently has a PornStash, much to Duftmon's chagrin.
* MyMasterRightOrWrong: He was always loyal to the extreme. Working for an increasingly paranoid and tyrannical [=TonosamaGekomon=] ultimately made him reconsider his attitude. He's still incredibly loyal, just not to a fault anymore.
* NaturalWeapon: Dynasmon's claws.
* NeverBeHurtAgain: After Dynasmon was treated badly by his lord [=TonosamaGekomon=], he became incredibly distant with other Digimon because he forms deep bonds of trust and he was reluctant to put himself into a position where he would be hurt or taken advantage of again.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: The Dynasmon species are dragon-men who hold the power of the wyvern.
* ThePowerOfFriendship: Dynasmon fights n behalf of his friends and would do anything for them.
* PowerCrystal: One on each hand. They let him use whichever ElementalPowers that he wants.
* PowerPalms: Dynasmon fires beams from his palms with Dragon's Roar.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Inverted. Dynasmon had red eyes, but he's a nice guy. However, he does have a temper and he sometimes gives into his draconic instincts during the heat of battle.
* SummonMagic: He can summon a wyvern made of PureEnergy to attack for him.
* TeamPet: Dynasmon's aura dragon, Wyvern, kind of serves as this role.
* MyGreatestFailure: See his BodyguardBetrayal.
* UndyingLoyalty: Dynasmon is fiercely loyal to those he calls his friends. It's deconstructed in Holy War when he reveals his backstory.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Gankoomon.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lordknightmon_cs.jpg]]
[=RhodoKnightmon=] is an eccentric individual, to say the least. He's extremely flamboyant, but he's very capable. He's also the head chef in the Royal Knight's headquarters.
----
* AgentPeacock: [=RhodoKnightmon=] may be eccentric and somewhat effeminate, but he's still a highly skilled warrior who can easily get the job done if he puts his mind to it.
* BeneathTheMask: [=RhodoKnightmon=] comes off as light-hearted, playful, and lazy, but underneath he has a professional, ruthless streak.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Although [=RhodoKnightmon=] is a frivolous, ostentatious flirt who likes to take things easy, Yggdrasil help you if he decides you're his enemy.
* BlackAndWhiteMorality: Although he isn't naive about shades of grey, to [=RhodoKnightmon=], as a professional Royal Knight, there are only friends and enemies. He feels that trying to navigate shades of grey only complicates their responsibilities.
* BlitheSpirit: [=RhodoKnightmon=] was this to the Royal Knights when he first joined, his unconventional ways forcing the Royal Knights to reflect on themselves after they were dealing with [=DarkKnightmon's=] betrayal.
* BlueBlood: He comes from an aristocratic family.
* BrilliantButLazy: [=RhodoKnightmon=] is a more than competent fighter, but he has a lazy streak where he prefers to only do jobs that he feel are worth the effort.
* CampGay: [=RhodoKnightmon=] is gay. According to Ouryumon, "really, really gay".
* ConsummateProfessional: When [=RhodoKnightmon=] takes a job seriously, he gets rid of his relaxed demeanor and becomes this, turning rather cold in the process.
* TheDandy: [=RhodoKnightmon=] is this due to his emphasis on looking great and not over-exerting himself.
* GoodIsNotSoft: Although he is normally carefree and light-hearted, Rhodo becomes merciless when it comes to dealing with evil Digimon.
* RichBoredom: This was part of his motivation for training to become a warrior and going off to adventure.
* ShieldBash: Attacking the enemy with his Pile Bunker, with his Urgent Fear attack.
* ShipperOnDeck: He ships Alphamon/[=KaiserGreymon=] and Alphamon/Omegamon on a few occasions. [[spoiler:He's half right with the latter situation.]]
** He ships Examon and Dorbickmon after seeing them together in the sequel.
* SupremeChef: [=RhodoKnightmon's=] food is pretty highly regarded in the Order.
* TeamChef: He's the Order's head chef in his spare time. Cooking helps him to unwind.
* WhipSword: His flexible blade-ribbons can be considered these.

[=UlforceVeedramon=] is the fastest of the Royal Knights. He's also very light-hearted and enjoys teasing the other knights.
----
* AffectionateNickname: Ulforce made a few of these for his Royal Knight friends, usually by shortening their names and adding Japanese honorifics.
* BarrierWarrior: His Tense Great Shield, a polygonal barrier that he creates with his V-Bracelet to protect himself, others, or even use offensively.
* BeehiveBarrier: The barrier that he uses, though using triangles.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: His Ulforce Sabres.
* ChestBlaster: His Shining V Force attack involves shooting a beam from the crest on his chest.
* DeflectorShields: The Tensegrity Shield.
* DragonKnight: Like Dukemon, Magnamon, and Dynasmon, he's more of a DraconicHumanoid than Examon or Ouryumon are.
* DualWielding: He occasionally uses two Ulforce Sabres: one on each wrist.
* HealingFactor: The Ulforce heals [=UlforceVeedramon=] at a faster rate.
* ICanStillFight: After [=UlforceVeedramon=] is badly injured by Suijinmon, he insists that he still fight and move around as normal. It was because he didn't want to be a burden to the other Royal Knights.
* InsultOfEndearment: "Ex-Sama" for Examon. What originally started as an ironic insult soon became an AffectionateNickname once [=UlforceVeedramon=] warmed up to him.
* JapaneseHonorifics: He uses these a lot for his friends, usually in a playful way.
* LaserBlade: The DualWielding Ulforce Sabres.
* LightningBruiser: He's the fastest of the Royal Knights but is by no means 'fragile'.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: When he's confined to a bed after being injured, his comedic nature disappears and he becomes dour and serious.
* TheNicknamer: Early on, [=UlforceVeedramon=] calls Examon "Ex-sama" as a sarcastic nickname. It eventually grows into an AffectionateNickname.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Inverted. [=UlforceVeedramon=] is a generally nice guy.
* SuperSpeed: [=UlforceVeedramon=] is the fastest of all the Royal Knights.
* {{Troll}}: He likes to taunt people. It's mostly good-natured, though.

[[folder: Craniamon]]
!!Craniamon
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/craniummon_cs.jpg]]
Craniamon is the most defence-oriented of the Royal Knights. He's calm, collected, and extremely competitive.
----
* ATasteOfDefeat: Pretty much a BerserkButton for him. Craniamon rarely lets himself lose, but when he does, he does not take it well.
* BadassArmFold: Craniamon often does this.
* BarrierWarrior: He can create an impenetrable, omnidirectional barrier with the Avalon.
* BeneathTheMask: The purpose of "Beneath the Barrier". Craniamon puts on an icy, confident, aloof outer exterior, but underneath, he has issues with his father and he is insecure about his worthiness of being one of the Royal Knights.
* BloodKnight: A mild case. He loves a good fight, gets disappointed when he doesn't get to fight and he'll never say no when he's given the chance.
* BlowYouAway: Craniamon creates a mini hurricane using End Waltz.
* CallingTheOldManOut: He is said to have done this in his past, which led to Craniamon's strained relationship with his father and his hometown.
* ChallengeSeeker: Craniamon is ambitious, determined, and always looks to better himself. Despite already being a Royal Knight, he's constantly pushing himself to seek his next challenge.
* CombatAestheticist: Craniamon is all about the art of combat and showing off his skills in a duel.
* CompetitionFreak: To the extreme. If he even loses a contest or even a sparring match, he gets incredibly sour. It's at least partly due to his desire for independence.
* ConsummateProfessional: Craniamon is practically married to the job, and he'll perform whatever orders he has to. He tends not to be very personal and it takes awhile for him to dethaw.
* CreepyGood: Craniamon isn't somebody who you want to meet in a dark alley, but he's still one of the good guys. His intimidating appearance is discussed in universe.
* CrossingTheBurntBridge: Craniamon is forced to do this when he's cajoled into going back to Caer Ygg, his hometown that he left on bad terms.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Craniamon's very demonic-looking, but he's one of the heroes.
* DeflectorShields: The Avalon has this ability whenever he used God Breath.
* DislikesTheNewGuy: Craniamon was suspicious and cold towards Examon at the beginning, but he eventually warmed up to him.
* DoubleWeapon: The Chaiohm Solais is a two-sided spear.
* FriendlyRivalry: With Gankoomon.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: Craniamon's not malevolent, but these eyes definitely add to his intimidating appearance.
* {{Hammerspace}}: Craniamon can do this thanks to his black digizoid armour.
* HatesSmallTalk: Craniamon doesn't waste his words, and he usually finds it annoying when he's expected to.
* IceQueen: Craniamon is incredibly aloof and terse, especially when first meeting him.
** DefrostingIceQueen: Although he does soften towards others subtly.
* IneffectualLoner: This was more the case when he first joined the Royal Knights, but he still has shades of it, like preferring to take missions alone and not letting anybody in on his duels.
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: Craniamon always feels the need to prove that he's the best. It makes him come across as proud and arrogant. However, in Holy War, he eventually admits that he pushes himself so hard because he's insecure and often feels inadequate compared to the rest of the Royal Knights.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Craniamon comes off as pretty terse, cold, and standoffish, but once he warms up to you, he's not a bad guy.
* LetsFightLikeGentlemen: Craniamon has a penchant for dueling opponents one-on-one and becomes very angry if any of his enemies or even allies interfere with his dual, "dirtying" it.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: The Avalon.
* ThePerfectionist: Particularly when it comes to combat. One blow against him is enough to make him sour for the rest of the day.
* {{Pride}}: This probably Craniamon's biggest flaw. He hates to accept help and to be viewed as weak. This drives many of his actions.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Craniamon is clad in a violet suit and armour and he is also a [[ActionFashionista badass]].
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Inverted. Craniamon can be a jerk at times, but that's about it.
* ShockAndAwe: Craniamon uses electricity with his End Waltz attack.
* SoreLoser: Craniamon gets very sour whenever he loses a competition.
* SpiritedCompetitor: He joined the Royal Knights because he wanted to fight with the best.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: While usually cold, Craniamon has a mild degree of warmth on occasion.
* TerseTalker: This is how Craniamon always speaks. It's rare that he has long-winded sentences.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Gankoomon.
* {{Workaholic}}: Craniamon is constantly working to better himself as a Royal Knight.

[[folder: Duftmon]]
!!Duftmon
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/duftmon_cs.jpg]]
Duftmon is the head tactician of the Royal Knights. He's very bright and his strategies are second-to-none, but his personality and social skills leave much to be desired.
----
* ATasteOfDefeat: Duftmon's plans rarely ever go badly. That is, until Chapter 14 of Holy War.
* BadassBookworm: In Duftmon's free time, he'll often have his head in a book.
* BerserkButton: He doesn't like people messing around in the library or being confronted with failure. Especially not a shortcoming on his fault instead of someone else's.
* BlueBlood: Duftmon is aristocratic.
* BookSmart: Out of all of the Royal Knights, Duftmon is the smartest and the most academic.
* BreakTheHaughty: Duftmon is finally taken down a few notches in Chapter 14 of Holy War. He spends the whole time [[spoiler:underestimating Suijinmon and the D-Brigade, believing that he would handily defeat them. He dismisses the prospect of D-Brigade reinforcements, which comes back to bite him when they end up flanking the Order's troops]].
* BrutalHonesty: Duftmon doesn't believe in lying and he certainly doesn't believe in sparing peoples' feelings. [[{{Hypocrite}} Unless it's to spare his own or keep himself from being blamed for failure.]]
* CannotTellALie: He's pretty much physically unable to lie. [[spoiler:When he does it tends to be due to lying to himself well enough he believes what he's saying to others.]]
* CatsAreMean: Duftmon's a bit of a dick. While he's typically humanoid, he does have Duftmon Leopard Mode in which he's definitely a feline.
* CatsAreSnarkers: Duftmon's one of the most prevalent snarkers of the Royal Knights, attributed to his belief that he's SurroundedByIdiots.
* CatsAreSuperior: Duftmon is very arrogant, intelligent, and cunning.
* CelibateEccentricGenius: Duftmon is a genius tactician with NoSocialSkills and he has absolutely no interest in relationships or sex.
* ChessmasterSidekick: Is this to Alphamon.
* CombatAestheticist: Duftmon is more concerned with artful tactical manoeuvres and brilliance, but there's a strong current of pragmatism in everything that he does.
* CombatPragmatist: This is how Duftmon fights, using tactical trickery, but he still manages to hold himself with grace.
* TheComicallySerious: Outside of dry sarcasm, Duftmon is completely serious, so he often reacts to others' nonsense as you might expect.
* ConsummateProfessional: How he thinks of himself. He takes being a Royal Knight very seriously, and he's never off. The only kind of social relationship that Duftmon holds is a strictly professional one. He thinks that friendship is only an annoying distraction from their true role.
* ControlFreak: Many elements of his personality, like his obsessive organization and his strict adherence to order in all things suggest this though when Alphamon confronts him with reasons for this he didn't seem aware that he was doing it.
* CulturedBadass: Duftmon is a literary connoisseur and an intellectual.
* DeadpanSnarker: Duftmon's main method of communication.
* DishingOutDirt: As Leopard Mode, he can create pillars of rock from the ground using "Wolkenkratzer".
* DislikesTheNewGuy: Duftmon was like this towards Examon, but he was like this towards all of the Royal Knights who joined after himself, which includes Sleipmon, Examon, and Gankoomon, all for different reasons.
* DitzyGenius: Duftmon is incredibly intelligent, but he's awful when it comes to anything social, to the point where he has to be told to watch what he says when he goes to visit allies so that he doesn't burn diplomatic relations by saying something offensive.
* EmotionsVsStoicism: The stoic to everyone else's emotional, even more so Examon, [=AncientGarurumon=], Gaioumon and Suijinmon, who are all [[TheSpock Spocks]] in their own regard. It's to the point that he doesn't even consider individual Digimon when making strategies beyond minimizing casualties.
* FantasticRacism: He was the most vocal against Sleipmon and Examon becoming Royal Knights due to them not being humanoid. Ironic given that he has his own beast based mode change he has no issues using in combat.
* FluffyTheTerrible: His poofy tail is often pilloried by the other knights.
* FriendlessBackground: He didn't have any friends growing up, nor did he want any.
* GentlemanSnarker: He's a sophisticated Digimon with a sharp tongue and enjoys the StealthInsult.
* HatesSmallTalk: Duftmon hates frivolous chatter that doesn't serve a point.
* HeroicBSOD: Duftmon goes into one in Chapter 14 after [[spoiler: he is made to realise that he was the one responsible for losing the battle against the D-Brigade, which caused Dukemon and Dynasmon to get taken prisoner.]]
* {{Hypocrite}}: His most glaring FatalFlaw aside from his {{Hubris}}: Beast based digimon shouldn't be allowed into the order for the sake of appearances, but [[SarcasmMode clearly his own beast mode is an exception]]. It's not right for the leader of said order to be of any orientation aside from being straight like a "normal" digimon, but not only does said leader still have an interest in the opposite sex ''he's'' noted to be practically UsefulNotes/{{Asexual}}. He doesn't see the point in lying and won't use them to spare any feelings, but he's so incapable of accepting his own flaws and failings if he doesn't lie to himself to spare himself the blame he can't handle the truth himself.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Due to his [[NoSocialSkills lack of social skills]], he doesn't always realize when he's being extremely offensive. Then again, he doesn't care all that much.
* InsufferableGenius: He is an extremely competent tactician, though he's slow to forgive Examon for ditching his plan. He's also incredibly arrogant, prejudiced, and is known to actively ignore the personal preferences of those he's leading in favor of what their skills ''should'' be well suited for.
* IntelligenceEqualsIsolation: Duftmon has genius intelligence, but he is unable and unwilling to relate to others on a social level outside of intellectual debates. This leads him to have virtually NoSocialSkills.
* JerkAss: Through his treatment of pretty much everyone.
* LightningBruiser: As Leopard Mode.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: Duftmon arguably qualifies.
* MultiformBalance: His Leopard Mode form makes up for weaknesses in his regular form and vice versa.
* NeverMyFault: A hallmark of Duftmon. He is unwilling to admit that he screwed up in sending only half of the Royal Knights to protect the WorldTree. Later, in Holy War, twice, he tries to shift tactical errors that he made onto others, refusing to believe that he was the one who could have made a mistake. He finally realises in Chapter 14 that he did make a mistake, sendng him into a HeroicBSOD.
* NobleBigot: Duftmon seems to be one of these, as he has misgivings about beast-type Digimon (like Sleipmon and Examon) and non-heterosexuals being Royal Knights. However, he cares less about this in the lower ranks of the Order, as he believes the Royal Knights have a higher standard to uphold in the eyes of the world. This also overlaps with InnocentBigot, as Duftmon really is quite bad socially and he doesn't always realize (though often he does) that he's being offensive.
* NoSocialSkills: And he'd prefer to keep it that way. Though after this oversight cost him two battles he may be more open to learning. He's not entirely unaware of how others react to him, after all.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: He shows genuine worry when Dynasmon and Dukemon escape from the D-Brigade. [[TheStoic He does his damnedest to hide it, though.]]
* PantheraAwesome: His Leopard Mode, which gets special mention for being a visual mix of a black panther and a [[KingOfBeasts lion]] instead of just being based on it's namesake.
* PassiveAggressiveKombat: Duftmon routinely makes passive aggressive comments at whoever he's annoyed with at the moment.
* ThePerfectionist: Anything less than perfect is unacceptable to Duftmon.
* {{Pride}}: This is Duftmon's most defining trait and flaw. He's an arrogant individual who has an inflexible way of doing things, which he views as the right way. He's usually skilled enough that his pride is justified, but it eventually catches up with him.
* TheProudElite: This fits Duftmon to a tee. He comes from a rich family, is university-educated, and is cold, arrogant and intelligent.
* RoyalRapier: The Shoumetsu/Hakai no Tsurugi.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Though he wears it around his waist.
* ScheduleFanatic: Duftmon is extremely precise and fixated on his schedules.
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: Duftmon is fond of using large words, as a tribute to his intellect and education
* SlaveToPR: While not so much concerned with this for himself, Duftmon is really concerned with the public image of the Order, which is a lot of the reason why he was opposed to Sleipmon and Examon joining the Order as Royal Knights and why he was bothered by Alphamon's bisexuality.
* TheSpock: Probably the most so on the team. Or anywhere else. Cold, rational logic is Duftmon's MO.
* StealthInsult: This is probably Duftmon's favourite kind of insult.
* TheStrategist: Duftmon's the head strategist of the Royal Knights and he's very good at his job.
* SuicidalOverconfidence: Lapses more and more into this in ''Holy War''. It culminates in [[spoiler:a crushing defeat at the hands of Suijinmon]].
* SwordBeam: Duftmon's "Austerrben" and "Ernst Wehr" attacks.
* TemptingFate: He says before the second conflict with the D-Brigade he figures the battle's result will be based on a rookie mistake the commander makes that the other side can capitalize on. [[spoiler: He's right, but he's unaware that he's the one making the rookie mistake of making assumptions that become the basis of his strategies.]]
* ThisIsMyChair: Duftmon nearly throws a fit when he hears that Gankoomon is sitting in his chair in the Royal Knight meeting room.
* {{Tsundere}}: His reaction to [[spoiler: Dynasmon and Dukemon getting back to the castle in one piece by themselves after being captured]] can come across like this towards them, as he also [[spoiler: just tried to offer [[MustMakeAmends going with the group to rescue them]] as he sees it as his fault that it happened]].
* TheUnapologetic: Duftmon never apologises for anything. Even when he realises he's done something wrong, he is too proud to utter an apology.
* VerbalTic: He's ''very'' prone to responding with the sound/phrase "Hmph" when he seemingly can't be bothered to think of a proper reply straight away or doesn't want to answer more honestly, as per his snobby attitude.
* WingedHumanoid: Duftmon has a humanoid appearance with two wings on his shoulders.

[[folder: Sleipmon]]
!!Sleipmon
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sleipmon_cs.jpg]]
Sleipmon was the tenth Royal Knight inducted into the order, making him the newest member after Examon. He's incredibly nice and warm-hearted.
----
* AllLovingHero: Possibly the best example of the Royal Knights. He refuses to kill and he usually prefers peaceful solutions.
* AnIcePerson: Sleipmon uses ice attacks.
* TheAtoner: Much of the reason why Sleipmon is so committed to non-lethal methods is due to the guilt that he felt after killing a mercenary and seeing the effect that it had.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Violet hair and violet eyes, both par for his species.
* HorseArcher: Sleipmon is both the horse and the archer.
* GentleGiant: One of the largest Royal Knights with one of the largest hearts.
* TheMcCoy: Sleipmon probably fits the role of the emotional altruist the best.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: He has a profound moment of this in his backstory, where he killed a mercenary who was trying to support his brother.
* NaiveNewcomer: [=RhodoKnightmon=] sees him has this due to his refusal to kill.
* NiceGuy: Sleipmon is one of the kindest and gentlest of the Royal Knights, being one of the first to befriend Examon.
* OurCentaursAreDifferent: He's a six-legged horse with the upper body of a horse-man.
* PreAsskickingOneLiner: Sleipmon slips in a couple ice related puns as he arrives to fight the Demon Lords in New Terminal.
* RecklessPacifist: Deconstructed in his and [=RhodoKnightmon's=] chapter. Sleipmon jas to go to great lengths not to kill Imperialdramon, who is huge, on a rampage and incredibly hard to control, and [=RhodoKnightmon=] is endangered in the process. While it works out for him in the end, [=RhodoKnightmon=] still calls him out on it.
** Deconstructed again in ''Holy War'', where his unwillingness to kill Suijinmon gets [=UlforceVeedramon=] led to him disabling the latter's cannons. While it does save [=UlforceVeedramon=]'s life, Suijinmon simply uses another attack that badly injures him instead. If Sleipmon had gone in for the kill, Ulforce probably would have gotten away uninjured and they wouldn't have needed Tactimon's backup.
* TechnicalPacifist: As a Royal Knight, Sleipmon is aware that he has to fight in order to keep the peace, but he refuses to kill.
* ThouShaltNotKill: Goes out of his way to avoid using deadly force on a rampaging Imperialdramon. And generally tries to avoid killing due to a belief that life is precious.
** He calls Examon a hypocrite for killing [=BlackMetalGarurumon=] and Anubismon, but not Dorbickmon due to Examon's personal history with the latter.
** The attitude comes from a time when he killed several mercenaries raiding some ruins he was responsible for guarding. The brother of one of the mercenaries showed up later on and Sleipmon had to give him the bad news.
* {{Unicorn}}: His Tyilinmon form is very unicorn-like. He uses it when his size would otherwise get in the way.
* WideEyedIdealist: Sleipmon is considered this by some of the other knights for his refusal to kill.

[[folder: Gankoomon]]
!!Gankoomon
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gankoomon_cs.jpg]]
A humanoid knight who has been wandering the world with the two Sistermon and his squire Hackmon. He doesn't think too highly of the Royal Knights who he sees as out of touch with the civilians they protect. He becomes a member of the Royal Knights after the Battle of the World Tree.
----
* BadassArmFold: Gankoomon regularly employs this.
* BadassLongcoat: He wears it like a cape.
* BadassTeacher: To Hackmon.
* BareFistedMonk: Gankoomon's main style of combat involves going to town on the enemy with his fists.
* BoisterousBruiser He's loud, crude, rough, but generally good-natured. It explains why he gets along with Dynasmon so well.
* CoatCape: Gankoomon has one of these.
* EleventhHourRanger: Gankoomon doesn't join the Royal Knights until the last few chapters of A Dragon in Shining Armour.
* FieryRedhead: Gankoomon has red hair and a fiery personality.
* FireForgedFriends: Gankoomon becomes this with the other Royal Knights in the Battle of the World Tree, where he begins to respect them.
* FlippingTheTable: One of his attacks. Also, something he does whenever he gets annoyed enough and there's a table nearby.
* FriendlyRivalry: With Dynasmon and Craniamon.
* {{Jerkass}}: He's pretty short with the Royal Knights and the Warrior Ten, particularly Dynasmon, and insists on fighting alongside them on his terms.
** JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's implied to be with through some of his actions and comments, particularly concerning Hackmon.
* HotBlooded: He's as hotheaded and impulsive as Ouryumon, but more professional.
** HotBloodedSideburns: Naturally, Gankoomon has these.
* KnightErrant: Much like [=KaiserGreymon=] used to be.
* MentorArchetype: To Huckmon.
** SternTeacher: Gankoomon is this to Huckmon, with emphasis on the "stern".
* OneWayVisor: He wears one of these. It looks pretty cool.
* ParentalSubstitute: He is this to Hackmon, although he sees himself more as his mentor.
* StreetSmart: Probably the most so of the Royal Knights, except maybe Dynasmon, which was part of the reason why Alphamon asked him to join the Order.
* SummonMagic: Hinakamui is similar to Dynasmon's Wyvern.
* TokenHuman: Downplayed. Gankoomon is the only member of the Royal Knights with a relatively human appearance.
* UnusualEyebrows: Gankoomon has fiery eyebrows that match his HotBlooded nature.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Dynasmon and Craniamon.

[[folder: [[spoiler: Jesmon]]]]
!! Jesmon
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jesmon_cs.jpg]]
Jesmon is the evolved form of [=SaviorHackmon=], a comparatively young dragon Digimon who travelled the world with Gankoomon and the Sistermons before joining the Order as a recruit in the Strike Forces. [=SaviorHackmon=] evolved to Jesmon while saving a village from the wrath of Demon, and has since been offered by Alphamon to join the Royal Knights as the 13th Royal Knight.

* AllLovingHero: To the extent that Hackmon is willing to see the best in [=GrandisKuwagamon=], even while he was his prisoner.
* TheApprentice: To Gankoomon.
* ArmedLegs: He has blades on his feet in his higher forms.
* BadassCape: He wears a hooded cape in all of his forms.
* BefriendingTheEnemy: He tries to do this with [=GrandisKuwagamon=].
* BewareMyStingerTail: Hackmon has one of these as [=BaoHackmon=] and [=SaviorHackmon=].
* BigDamnHeroes: He tries to do this but tragically fails in Hope's Crest. He pulls it off more successfully when he and the Royal Knights come to the rescue of Shadow Retreat, where he evolves to Jesmon and saves [=GrandisKuwagamon=]
* BloodKnight: Downplayed. When he hears a battle breaking out, he's eager to join in, but Gankoomon tells him not to.
* BreakTheCutie: Jesmon has been through a lot. He lost his parents and hometown to the Demon Lords' ColonyDrop of a Sky Colony, leaving him an orphan as a Hackmon, who probably would have died had Gankoomon not come across him. In Holy War, he gets captured by Black Pincer Company, where he forms a connection with [=GrandisKuwagamon=]. Later, when Grandis is captured by the Royal Knights, Grandis befriends him and tricks him into freeing him, leaving [=SaviorHackmon=] hurt and doubting himself. Then, when he starts to regain his confidence, he rushes off to Hope's Crest when he hears that it's going to be overwhelmed by the Demon Lords, and while he mounts a resistance against it, he ultimately gets the stuffing kicked out of him by Demon and is unable to do anything but watch as the village is destroyed. While he reaches multiple low points, he is able to bounce back, and it's through his perseverence that he's able to finally evolve to Jesmon.
* CareerBuildingBlunder: Alphamon allows [=SaviorHackmon=] to stay in the Order after [[spoiler: he accidentally released [=GrandisKuwagamon=]]].
* CoatCape: He has a sort of one of these.
* GogglesDoNothing: The goggles on his hood are really just there for show.
* HeroWorshipper: Toward the Royal Knights.
* TheIdealist: Hackmon wants to see the best in everybody, even [=GrandisKuwagamon=]. He also decides that he hates war after witnessing the Battle of Saversburg.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler: [=SaviorHackmon=] wants to help [=GrandisKuwagamon=] after hearing his plight when Grandis is told that he'll still have to spend two years in prison.]] Grandis asks him to remove the inhibiting virus from his body so that he can retain his dignity. [=SaviorHackmon=] does so, breaking the rules in the process, and once the virus is removed, [=GrandisKuwagamon=] takes advantage of the opportunity to escape.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: A dragon Digimon.
* PowerIncontinence: Couldn't hold his [=BaoHackmon=] form at first. It is now his main form, as of Holy War.
* PursueTheDreamJob: Hackmon wants more than anything to become a Royal Knight.
* SkilledButNaive: He is an adept warrior thanks to his training with Gankoomon, and he becomes progressively stronger as he evolves, but his naivety leads to him to making rash mistakes.
* TheSquire: To Gankoomon.
* StupidGood: Hackmon always tries to do the right thing, but he often makes bad decisions [[spoiler: like accidentally freeing [=GrandisKuwagamon=].]]
* TechnicalPacifist: After seeing the horrors and sorrow of war first hand, [=SaviorHackmon=] turns into this. He recognises that he still has to fight in order to protect, but he doesn't do so lightly.
* TookALevelInBadass: After he gets captured by Black Pincer Company and Gankoomon takes his place, he evolves to [=SaviorHackmon=] to rescue his mentor. They fight pretty well together.
* WideEyedIdealist: [=GrandisKuwagamon=] accuses [=SaviorHackmon=] of being one of these. [[spoiler: He later proves him right when Grandis manipulates [=SaviorHackmon=] into freeing him, only for Grandis to betray his trust and use him to escape.]]

!Digimon of the Royal Knight's Order

The Order of the Royal Knights contains hundreds of Digimon who work under the Royal Knights in various capacities. The majority of them are military in purpose. There are several sections of the Order. There’s the Strike Forces, the Defence Forces, the Reconnaissance Forces, and the Stealth Forces. There are also smaller sections of the Order who focus on the administrative, financial, and technical side.

[[folder: Ouryumon]]
!!Ouryumon
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ouryuu_2_8900.jpg]]
Ouryumon is a close friend of Alphamon who lives in the headquarters with them, often going out on missions with them.Ouryumon is an extremely hot-tempered digimon and he shows disdain towards Examon for taking (he thinks) his rightful place as a Royal Knight. He's also the Captain of the Royal Knights' Strike Forces.
----
* AdventureDuo: Alphamon served this role with Ouryumon back before the Order was created, with Alphamon being the sensible one and Ouryumon being the high-maintenance sidekick.
* AggressiveSubmissive: Ouryumon played this role in his relationship with Alphamon. He's usually aggressive and pro-active, but when it comes to relationship roles, he's the submissive one.
* AlwaysSecondBest: Ouryumon feels like he is this.
* ArmoredDragons: He's a dragon clad in armour.
* BattleCouple: He's one with his boyfriend, Alphamon.
* BigEgoHiddenDepths: He talks a big game and he feels like he deserves to be a Royal Knight, but he has a lot of issues with insecurity and he really does love Alphamon.
* BloodKnight: He loves to fight and to kill, to the point of laughter as he deletes Digimon. He gets called out on it by Examon during an argument.
* BreakTheHaughty: His character arc turns out like this, ever since [=DarkKnightmon=] returns. [=DarkKnightmon=] reveals what Ouryumon has done to him to Alphamon. This leads to Alphamon breaking up with him, dismissing him from the Order, and his capture by [=DarkKnightmon=]. The experiences lead to some needed CharacterDevelopment.
* CantCatchUp: Ouryumon feels his way because he isn't being made a Royal Knight, which plays heavily into his insecurities.
* CheshireCatGrin: Due to his snout and his jagged teeth.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: With Alphamon.
* ChildhoodFriends: He and Alphamon are these.
* CrazyJealousGuy: Downplayed. Ouryumon has shades of this and he's violently protective of Alphamon and often sees threats to his relationship with Alphamon that aren't there.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Violet hair and violet eyes, both par for his species.
* DarkSecret: The fact that Ouryumon [[spoiler: pushed [=DarkKnightmon=] off of a tower in an attempt to kill him after hearing about his planned coup. A fact that [=DarkKnightmon=] gleefully tells Alphamon when the time is right. Alphamon is sufficiently pissed.]]
* DragonKnight: Although not technically a Royal Knight.
* DualWielding: His swords.
* EmergencyTransformation: [[spoiler: When Ouryumon is dying at the end of A Dragon in Shining Armour, Alphamon jogresses with him into Alphamon Ouryuken in order to share his wounds, thereby diminishing them with his own data. The fusion is temporary.]]
* EquippableAlly: To Alphamon by way of a FusionDance.
* FusionDance: Forming Alphamon's weapon in the latter's Ouryuken form involves a lot of bright light.
* HairTriggerTemper: It doesn't take very much to set this guy off.
* HollywoodAtheist: Seems to be mostly averted. Ouryumon is described as not believing in any of the Digital World's religions. While he has a nasty personality at times, there's nothing to suggest that he's atheist for any particularly dramatic reason or that his personality stems from his atheism.
* HotBlooded: More so than any of the Royal Knights. It's implied that his short temper and impulsiveness are the main reasons he hasn't been allowed to officially join them.
* InsecureLoveInterest: He is this to Alphamon. [=Ouryumon's=] jealousy towards Omegamon, [=DarkKnightmon=], and Examon stems from the fact that Ouryumon is insecure and views Alphamon as being above him. His obsession with becoming a Royal Knight is due to him wanting to be on equal footing with Alphamon.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Ouryumon has this mindset for most of A Dragon in Shining Armour until his character development. He constantly views events in how they affect him.
%%zce* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He settles into this role after his character development.
* MakeItLookLikeAnAccident: [[spoiler: When he tried to kill [=DarkKnightmon=] for plotting against Alphamon, he pushed [=DarkKnightmon=] off the castle wall and threw a brick down after him in the hopes that it would hit him and make it look like he fell accidentally. Unfortunately, [=DarkKnightmon=] survived.]]
* MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily: He's got rows of them.
* PsychoSidekick: Ouryumon has a mild case of this with Alphamon. They've been friends since they were kids, but [=Ouryumon's=] a lot more morally grey than Alphamon is. This is evidenced when [[spoiler:[=Ouryumon=] tries to kill [=DarkKnightmon=] for conspiring to overthrow Alphamon. This eventually comes back to bite him in the ass when Alphamon finds this piece of information out, as Alphamon could overlook [=Ouryumon's=] other flaws, but not murder.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: He's the red to Alphamon's blue.
* RefusedByTheCall: He desperately wants to becomes a Royal Knight, but he's seen as too impulsive and volatile, so, instead, he's relegated to be the Captain of the Strike Forces.
** [[spoiler:Alphamon kicked him out of the order altogether upon finding out that he tried to kill [=DarkKnightmon=] for plotting to overthrow Alphamon.]]
* SinisterScimitar: The DualWielding Gairyu Sadaijin and Gairyu Udaijin.
* SirSwearsALot: He swears more than any character except for maybe Dorbickmon.
* SlasherSmile: He generally sports one of these when his adrenaline is really pumping.
* SpiritedCompetitor: Ouryumon thrives on competition. However, his competition mentality makes him feel threatened by those who he considers rivals for something, such as for Alphamon's affection or a spot as one of the Royal Knights.
* StraightGay: Ouryumon is gay, but he hides this from everybody else, well enough that nobody suspects his homosexuality.
* TookALevelInKindness: After his CharacterDevelopment.
* {{Tsundere}}: Type A. He typically has a fiery personality, but he softens up whenever he's alone with Alphamon. Whenever he has a fight with Alphamon, he goes full tsundere.
* UnscrupulousHero: Ouryumon has no qualms about [[spoiler: trying to kill [=DarkKnightmon=] when he found out about his imminent betrayal, and he suggested it again when he was worried that [=DarkKnightmon=] would tell the others that he tried to kill him.]] Also, his BloodKnight tendencies feed into this role, although Ouryumon generally is well-intentioned.

Grani is a Zero ARMS, a digital lifeform that shares a very close bond with Dukemon, to the point where he only allows Dukemon to ride him. In contrast to Dukemon's personality, Grani is cool and collected, and he often advises Dukemon with his problems. He's also the leader of the Royal Knight's Reconnaissance Squadron.
----
* AngerBornOfWorry: His reaction when Dukemon [[spoiler: escapes from the D-Brigade]] is to call him out for recklessness. This happens again after Karatenmon is hurt.
* TheConfidant: He serves this role to his friend Dukemon.
* GiantFlyer: Grani's a large dragon who's big enough to carry Dukemon.
* HeterosexualLifePartner: With Dukemon.
* NoBiologicalSex: As a Zero ARMS, Grani doesn't have a biological sex, though he identifies as a male.
* NoodleIncident: He got stuck in a swamp once.
* ObliviousToLove: Grani is blissfully unaware that his Sparrowmon subordinate has a crush on him.
* OnlyTheChosenMayRide: Grani only allows Dukemon to ride him except for in exceptional circumstances, since he is Dukemon's Zero ARMS.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: He's a big, metal bird-dragon.
* RedOniBlueOni: He's the blue to Dukemon's and Karatenmon's red.
* SapientSteed: Grani is this to Dukemon.
* ServileSnarker: Grani is this towards Dukemon. He usually has a dry quip ready for the Royal Knight. This extends to Karatenmon as well.
* TheStoic: Grani's a very calm and composed individual.

* DarkIsNotEvil: He's a doctor, and quite a capable one, too.
* DoctorsOrders: Once in his care, even the Royal Knights have to listen to him.
* ExtraEyes: Examon finds it unnerving at first. So does Dynasmon, back when he first joins the Order.
* EyesDoNotBelongThere: He has extra eyes on his shoulders, chest, knees...
* TheMedic: He's the head physician for the Royal Knights.
** CombatMedic: During [=DarkKnightmon=]'s probing attack on the Royal Knights' castle, he says that he'd fight alongside Examon, who was injured at the time and wanted to help the other Royal Knights, if the fighting got that far inside the castle.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: Also averted. His black and red colour scheme, doesn't mean he's evil, as he's shown to be a well-intentioned guy.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: [[RuleOfThree Once again]], averted.

----
* TheCracker: Breaks into the D-Brigade's communication system in the sequel.
* DroneDeployer: He creates drones to use for the Royal Knights' purposes.
* TheEngineer: [=MetallifeKuwagamon=] fits this role for the Order, being in charge of the Technical Division.
* OneManIndustrialRevolution: He's responsible for the creation of most of the technology in the Royal Knights' headquarters. The rest he "borrowed" from the Metal Empire, which branded him a traitor for having done so.
* NonActionGuy: He doesn't really have a combat role at all.
* ShorterMeansSmarter: He's as short as Magnamon and he's pretty intelligent.

** LiteralSurveillanceBug: Also qualifies as one of these.
* TechnoWizard: Operating the Royal Knights' computer is the only thing we've seen him do.

* {{Ninja}}: Has the skills of one.
* TheSpymaster: Serves as this for the Order.
* StealthExpert: Karatenmon is this for the Royal Knights, putting his ninja skills to good use and leading the Stealth Forces.

* {{BFS}}: The Omega Blade
* BigBrotherMentor: He serves this role to the original Royal Knights, in particular, Alphamon. He's kind and relaxed in his advise, but he knows how to make an impact with a few choice words. Given his relationship with them, he views them more as friends than anything else.
* BigGood: As the founder of the Order, he served this role, although he passed the reins of leadership over to Alphamon. He's still present in the world, but it's ambiguous as to where or what he's doing.

[[folder: The Lupolford Brothers]]
!!Anubismon
Anubismon is the ambitious ruler of Lupolford, one of the smaller provinces in the Free Area, inherited to him by his father. His goal is invading and capturing the United Dramonic Coalition for its precious blue diamante and green malachite deposits. Not to be confused with Anubismon of the Warrior Ten.
----
* AmbitionIsEvil: Anubismon's main driving feature is his ambition. He wanted to rise above his role as mayor of Lupolford and take over the United Dramonic Coalition to profit off its precious gem and metal industry.
* BelatedInjuryRealization: [[spoiler: After his brother's death, he's so angry and fueled with adrenaline that he doesn't realize that he's suffered a fatal wound from Examon's stray shots.]]
* BrainsAndBrawn: The brains to [=BlackMetalGarurumon's=] brawn.
* DiskOneFinalBoss: [[spoiler:He and [=BlackMetalGarurumon=] served as the main antagonists for the first several chapters before being killed off.]]

* GoodWingsEvilWings: Inverted. He has a pair of golden, angelic-looking wings.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted. He shares the species name "Anubismon" with one of [=AncientSphinxmon's=] forms. [=BlackMetalGarurumon=] worries that the two will be mistaken for each other if Anubismon becomes well-known.
* PragmaticVillainy: Tries to avoid killing as much as possible so his attempt at taking over the coalition will be as peaceful as possible and holds his brother to the same standard.
* PyramidPower: He traps Examon in a barrier shaped like a pyramid during their first encounter. The ability is even called "Pyramid Power".
* SummonMagic: His Amemit attack summons a shadow creature.

!![=BlackMetalGarurumon=]
[=BlackMetalGarurumon=] is Anubismon's brother and bodyguard. He doesn't have the brains of Anubismon, but he much prefers just blowing things up anyways.

!![=DarkKnightmon=]
[[quoteright:349:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/darkknight_2_6928.jpg]]
A knight Digimon that escaped from the Dark Area. He is the object of the Baromon's prophecy. In ''Holy War'', he is revealed to be Bagramon's younger brother.
----
* AffablyEvil: He's never rude, even to his enemies.
* BadassCape: He's a badass with a long, black cape, making him quite sinister.
* BestServedCold: He waits until after he escapes from prison to reveal to Alphamon what Ouryumon did to him.
* BlackKnight: He's a black knight. It's kind of in the name.
* BlueBlood: [=DarkKnightmon=] was formerly an aristocrat, alongside his brother.
* BreakThemByTalking: [=DarkKnightmon=] is fond of this technique. [[spoiler: He managed to forcibly break Alphamon and [=Ouryumon's=] powerful jogress evolution, Ouryuken, by making Alphamon realize that Ouryumon defenestrated him. He also used this again on Ouryumon after taking him prisoner.]]
* CombatPragmatist: [=DarkKnightmon=] isn't afraid to make a GroinAttack if it helps him to win.
* CombiningMecha: Inverted. As in ''Anime/DigimonFusion'', he can split into [=SkullKnightmon=] and [=DeadlyAxemon=] at will.
* TheCynic: He doesn't believe that the Royal Knights' LibertyOverProsperity beliefs are realistic, so he tries to take over the order himself in order to force more strict oversight on the surrounding regions. He also believes that the Religion of Light and the Heavenly Choir are a cult and doesn't believe in gods in general. This is in stark contrast to his brother Bagramon's faith and idealism. He eventually severs all ties with the latter after a heated argument about these traits and the latter selling their home to fund the Heavenly Choir's Exodus Project.
* DeadpanSnarker: [=DarkKnightmon=] can be exceedingly sarcastic when he's dismissive.
* DeathEqualsRedemption: [[spoiler: When he is dying at Alphamon's hands, [=DarkKnightmon's=] conversation with him shows that he still cares about Alphamon and that he wants what's best for the Digital World.]]
* DespairGambit: This was [=DarkKnightmon's=] primary tactic. Being significantly weaker compared to the well-established Royal Knights, he tried to break their spirits and destroy the purpose of their Order as a means to defeat them. He did this by causing internal divisions, kidnapping, brainwashing, and trying to destroy the World Tree, among other things.
* DestinationDefenestration: [[spoiler:After hearing [=DarkKnightmon=] conspiring with [=MirageGaogamon=], Ouryumon pushes him off one of the castle towers.]]
* DetachmentCombat: He split into [=SkullKnightmon=] and [=DeadlyAxemon=] to fight multiple targets at once.
* EvilFormerFriend: [=DarkKnightmon=] was this to Alphamon and the four other founding Royal Knights.
* FaceHeelTurn: His suggestions that the Royal Knights should be more forceful in enforcing the law consistently fall on deaf ears, leading him to attempt to overthrow Alphamon.
* FallenHero: He used to be one of the Royal Knights but he came to be disenchanted with them and their methods. He challenged Alphamon for the leadership of the Royal Knights and failed, prompting him to plot to overthrow the whole Order by force.
* {{Foil}}: [=SkullKnightmon=] and [=DeadlyAxemon=] are foils to Alphamon and Ouryumon respectively. [=SkullKnightmon=] and Alphamon are both noble, wise, charismatic, and want the best for the Digital World, but [=SkullKnightmon=] is more ambitious and is willing to go to the lengths that Alphamon isn't. [=DeadlyAxemon=] and Ouryumon are both [=SkullKnightmon=] and Alphamon's trusted companions. They're both weapon-based Digimon who can fuse with their partners into stronger forms. They're both aggressive, brutal, and vicious [[BloodKnight Blood Knights]], but [=DeadlyAxemon=] is slightly more brutal than Ouryumon and didn't undergo the same character development.
* FriendlyEnemy: [=DarkKnightmon=] is this to Alphamon. He doesn't hate Alphamon, but he's willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his ends. It's made clear by the end of A Dragon in Shining Armour that he still considers Alphamon a friend.
* FusionDance: Of [=SkullKnightmon=] and [=DeadlyAxemon=]. [=SkullKnightmon=] is the dominant personality. He's also the only character thus far in either book to use [[Anime/DigimonFusion DigiXros]].
* {{Hypocrite}}: He's accused of being this by Bagramon for joining the Yggdrasil-following Order despite having zero feelings towards Yggdrasil at all. He merely sees it as a means to an end.
* IHaveNoSon: He severs all ties with Bagramon over the latter selling their home to fund the Heavenly Choir's sky colonies, which he sees as a pipe dream.
* LightningBruiser: Both [=SkullKnightmon=] and [=DeadlyAxemon=].
* ManipulativeBastard: [=DarkKnightmon=] is always manipulating someone, whether it be his enemies or his own allies.
* NayTheist: [=DarkKnightmon=] believes that Yggdrasil or a god-entity does exist, but it is nothing more than a neutral, amoral AI program whose only function is that of balancing the processes of the Digital World, therefore, he refuses to worship one like the Royal Knights or Bagramon does.
* OneManArmy: He's dangerous enough to have been confined to the Dark Area, so this goes without saying. [[spoiler:He was strong enough to wipe the floor with the other Royal Knights. He was only defeated after several of them hit him with high-powered attacks when he thought they were down.]]
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: One of the Digimon he splits into, [=DeadlyAxemon=], is described as having a demonic appearance.
* PragmaticVillainy: Aside from beating the stuffing out of Ouryumon for pushing him off that wall, he doesn't really do anything that doesn't further his plans.
* ProphecyTwist: "Beware the black '''k'''night."
* RageBreakingPoint: He moves against Alphamon earlier than he would have after being pushed off the castle wall by Ouryumon.
* RivalTurnedEvil: In his backstory, [=DarkKnightmon=] became increasingly alienated from the Royal Knights because they viewed his ideas to better the world as too oppressive and heavy handed. He resented the fact that the Royal Knights listened to Alphamon but not him. When fighting Imperialdramon Paladin Mode, it's suggested that [=DarkKnightmon=] was TheResenter to Alphamon, and that was part of the reason why he had a FaceHeelTurn.
* SiblingYinYang: With [[spoiler: Bagramon. [=DarkKnightmon=] is TheCynic while Bagramon is TheIdealist. They also have contrasting dark and light themes.]]
* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids: [=DarkKnightmon=] is a firm believer in this, and he tells his brother as much.
* TinTyrant: Zigzagged. He started off as a good guy but then became a WellIntentionedExtremist.
* TotalitarianUtilitarian: He does what he does because he ultimately wants to make the world a better place for Digimon, even if it requires heavy-handed tactics to do so.
* TranquilFury: Especially during his argument with Bagramon.
* UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans: This is [=DarkKnightmon's=] whole goal. He wants to overthrow the Royal Knights, who he deems too soft, and impose stricter authority over the Digimon of the Free Area and further, as he believes that getting rid of the bad elements will make a better world for everyone, which is worth sacrificing liberty for.
* VillainousFriendship: With [=MirageGaogamon=].
** ThePowerOfFriendship: [[spoiler:When [=DarkKnightmon=]'s group attacks the WorldTree, this allows him and [=MirageGaogamon=] to bypass Valdurmon's defenses, which protect the latter from attacks motivated by malice.]]
* VisionaryVillain: He never loses sight of his goal to create a better system which will create a better world, and he knows exactly how he wants to achieve his goals.
* WellIntentionedExtremist[=/=]TheUnfettered: He saw keeping the peace as being more important than safeguarding the rights of the Digimon in the Free Area. This drove a wedge between him and the other Knights.

!![=MirageGaogamon=]
A captain of the Free Area's defense forces. He allied with [=DarkKnightmon=] after the latter decided to take a harsher stance against criminal activity than the rest of the Royal Knights.
----
* AbsurdlySharpClaws: [=MirageGaogamon's=] claws.
* ChestBlaster: His Full Moon Blaster attack.
* CoDragons: To [=DarkKnightmon=], with Dorbickmon.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Half of his family was killed by marauders. This is what motivated him to join the defense forces [[spoiler:and to join [=DarkKnightmon=]'s attempt to overthrow Alphamon, who both consider to be too lenient]].
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Between Dorbickmon and [=MirageGaogamon=]. [=MirageGaogamon=] makes his distrust of Dorbickmon clear.
* UndyingLoyalty: He is unwaveringly loyal to [=DarkKnightmon=], as they understand each other the most.
* VillainousFriendship: With [=DarkKnightmon=].
** ThePowerOfFriendship: [[spoiler:When [=DarkKnightmon=]'s group attacks the WorldTree, this allows the two of them to bypass Valdurmon's defenses, which protect the latter from attacks motivated by malice.]]

A humanoid dragon Digimon responsible for freeing [=DarkKnightmon=].
----
* AffablyEvil: Sort of. While not exactly gentlemanly, he's hardly rude to Omegamon when the latter is his prisoner.
* {{BFS}}: Dorbickmon can make the Tyrant Collbrande as big as a tree, but at the cost of mobility.
* BloodKnight: Dorbickmon is a bit of an adrenaline junky and he takes pleasure in fighting, especially against Examon.
* TheBrute: Dorbickmon serves the role of sheer muscle in [=DarkKnightmon's=] group.
* ChestBlaster: Dorbickmon can shoot fiery beams from the disks on his chest.
* ChildhoodFriends: He was this with Examon until the attack turned him against him.
* CoDragons: To [=DarkKnightmon=]. with [=MirageGaogamon=].
* CombatPragmatist: Dorbickmon uses several dirty tricks during his fights with Examon.
* DishingOutDirt: Dorbickmon can tap into Dragon Veins to manipulate the earth.
* DragonWithAnAgenda: Dorbickmon's only real reason for working with [=DarkKnightmon=] is to get revenge on Examon.
* EvilFormerFriend: [[spoiler: Dorbickmon is this to Examon. They were Strikedramon and Coredramon, respectively, when they were younger. The two were best friends but Strikedramon accidentally touched Coredramon's reverse scale, one day, causing Coredramon to accidentally attack Strikedramon, nearly killing him. Because of this and Coredramon's retreat, Strikedramon became embittered and held a massive grudge ever since.]]
* EvilRedhead: While not having hair, his head is red and he's villainous.
* {{Foil}}: He's this to Examon. They're both red dragon man Digimon, but [[RedOniBlueOni Dorbickmon is a wild, savage, melee-oriented mercenary while Examon is a calm, aloof, emotionally-rigid, range-oriented Royal Knight.]]
* GetOutOfJailFreeCard: When Dorbickmon makes his HeelFaceTurn, he is generaelly forgiven by the Royal Knights despite his crimes, though he does have to help the Royal Knights in their crackdown on black and grey claw mercenary teams. [=GrandisKuwagamon=] calls him out in Chapter 35 for being EasilyForgiven, whereas he isn't.
* HeelFaceTurn: When he realizes that fighting Examon won't satisfy him.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: Dorbickmon starts to show this near the end of A Dragon in Shining Armour when he refuses to admit that he's softening towards Examon.
* HiredGuns: Dorbickmon's profession is a mercenary but he's not under commission in his capacity in the story
* HotBlooded: Dorbickmon gets really passionate and fired up when he's running on adrenaline. Especially when Examon's concerned.
* ISurrenderSuckers: He pulls this on Examon in the final battle, attacking when Examon's guard was down.
* {{Jerkass}}: Relative to the rest of [=DarkKnightmon=]'s group, though he's still way more tactful than Duftmon of Ouryumon.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Dorbickmon eventually becomes one of these.
* MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily: He's got a large set of draconic chompers that are frequently described when he grins, giving him an intimidating aura.
* OpportunisticBastard: Dorbickmon wants to get revenge on Examon and he makes no bones about letting [=DarkKnightmon=] do all of the plotting for him. He just wants an opportunity to fight Examon. When Examon isn't around, especially after their confrontation in their hometown, Dorbickmon stops caring about [=DarkKnightmon's=] plans.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: More humanoid than Examon is.
** DraconicHumanoid
* PlayingWithFire: He has multiple fire-based attacks.
* PersonalityPowers: Fiery attacks to go with his fiery nature.
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Examon's blue. He is aggressive, savage, and emotional, whereas Examon is cold, docile, and composed.
* ReformedCriminal: In the sequel, he hasn't stopped doing mercenary work altogether, but he does start giving the Royal Knights intelligence about other mercenary groups.
* {{Revenge}}: He wants revenge against Examon. Eventually, he decides it's not what he wants and fights alongside the Royal Knights.
* SlasherSmile: He sports a mean one, especially when he's evil.
* SpikesOfVillainy: Dorbickmon has no shortage of spikes on his body, and it makes him look menacing.
* SpiritedCompetitor: Dorbickmon is an adrenaline junky and he loves competing.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Between Dorbickmon and [=MirageGaogamon=]. And later [=GrandisKuwagamon=].
* ThatManIsDead: Dorbickmon infers this when he protests to Examon referring to him as "Strikedramon".
* {{Tsundere}}: Type A. Dorbickmon has notable shades of this towards Examon, especially after Examon's kind actions and remorse towards him begin to affect him.

[[folder: Black Pincer Company]]
!!Black Pincer Company as a whole
A company of mercenaries introduced at the beginning of the sequel. Their members are a [=GrandisKuwagamon=], a Blitzmon and a Bolgmon.
----
* BestServedCold: They repaid the [=MetalTyranomon=] X who destroyed their village several years later after they were able to take their ultimate/mega forms and they [[ColdBloodedTorture weren't exactly quick about it]]. The three followed this up by absorbing their data.
* CannibalismSuperpower: All three of them are data absorbers, though the only Digimon they absorbed were the ones who destroyed their village, which gave them the X-Antibody. They've avoided doing it since because their bodies tried very painfully to reject the foreign data.
* {{Cyborg}}: All of them in their default forms.
* DoomedHometown: Their village was destroyed by a horde of [=MetalTyranomon=] X, leaving them homeless and alone except for each other.
* HadToBeSharp: Discussed by [=GrandisKuwagamon=]. Since the three of them were street rats, they had to be resourceful in order to survive.
* HiredGuns: They sell their services to paying clients, and they specialize in covert ops.
* JapaneseBeetleBrothers: Blitzmon and Bolgmon are based on Hercules beetles and Grandis is based on a stag beetle.
* MysteriousPast: Nobody knows how they formed and they'd prefer to keep it that way. At most, there are allusions to them growing up on the streets without any parents.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: They're all cyborg insects. Blitzmon and [=GrandisKuwagamon=] add humanoid to the mix while Bolgmon is a tank.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: [=GrandisKuwagamon=] and Blitzmon.
* ProfessionalKiller: Their jobs include assassinations.
* SatisfiedStreetRat: All three members of Black Pincer Co.
* SoMuchForStealth: Once they get the blueprints they came for and Bolgmon starts blowing thinks up, they leave in a hurry. Ironically, Bolgmon started blowing things up because he though the other two had been seen by the guards.
* StreetSmart: All of them, but [=GrandisKuwagamon=] is the most so.

!![=GrandisKuwagamon=]
The unofficial leader of Black Pincer Company. He’s streetwise, deadly, cynical, and a smartass.
----
* AbsurdlySharpClaws: [=GrandisKuwagamon=] can puncture most armour with his Gran Killers.
* AFriendInNeed: Grandis going back and saving [=VictoryGreymon=] seemed to be the start of Grandis' HeelFaceTurn. However...
* AngstySurvivingTwin: [[spoiler: [=GrandisKuwagamon=] reveals himself to be this, to his fraternal twin brother Kokuwamon, who was killed when [=MetalTyrannomon=] raided their village.]]
* AtLeastIAdmitIt: He is aware of most of his immoral behaviour, but he takes pride in the fact that he's self-aware enough to admit it, and that he's not a hypocrite like the Royal Knights or hiding behind religion like the Demon Lords.
* ATragedyOfImpulsiveness: [[spoiler: When Alphamon tells him that he would have to go to prison for a time, [=GrandisKuwagamon=] makes the impulsive decision to escape. This leads him to becoming a fugitive, fighting against his friends, and ultimately joining Bagramon and the Demon Lords.]]
* BeAllMySinsRemembered: [[spoiler: After his HeelFaceTurn, he doesn't forget his involvement in the siege of New Terminal.]]
* BecauseImGoodAtIt: [=GrandisKuwagamon=] doesn't want to stop being a covert mercenary because it's something he spent most of his life doing, so he's good at it and he enjoys being good at it, as it's one of his greatest accomplishments after picking himself off of the streets.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: [=GrandisKuwagamon=]'s [=GranKuwagamon=] form.
* BloodKnight: While less overt than Bolgmon, Grandis loves fighting.
* {{Bookworm}}: He enjoys reading in his spare time.
* BoxedCrook: [[spoiler: After his capture, Grandis makes a deal with the Royal Knights to help him. To ensure his obedience, the Royal Knights install a restraint virus in him that keeps him from moving over fifty meters away from Paildramon. If he does, he is given an electric shock and his muscles become paralyzed until he is back in range.]]
* BrutalHonesty: He doesn't pull his punches when talking to anybody.
* CombatPragmatist: He isn't afraid to take low blows during a fight, like throwing dirt and performing a GroinAttack.
* ControlFreak: [=GrandisKuwagamon=] has been showing signs of this in Chapter 35, after he realises that he's still going to have to spend two years in prison after helping the Royal Knighs.
* TheCynic: He has an incredibly bleak view of the world.
* CynicismCatalyst: A so far unspecified event in his past, which took place several years before the story. There was apparently nobody there to protect him when it happened. [[spoiler: He later reveals what happened in Chapter 36. A band of [=MetalTyrannomon=] X-Antibodies raided and attacked his village of Manu when he was a child. They killed everyone in sight, purely ForTheEvulz. In that attack, he lost his parents, his brother, and his home. Only he, Blitzmon, and Bolgmon survived. He prayed for Yggdrasil's help or for some hero to save them, but they were left to their fate.]] From that point, he realised that he could only rely on himself.
* DeadpanSnarker: Sarcasm is one of his defining traits, and he usually whips it out in response to Bolgmon.
* DimensionalCutter: [=GranKuwagamon=] can cut through the fabric of space with his pincers, either using it for spacial portals or for cutting through an enemy's defenses. [=GrandisKuwagamon=] can also use his Gran Killers in this way.
* EvilRedhead: Has red hair and he's a ruthless individual.
* FieryRedhead: He's got a hot-temper when pushed.
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: [[spoiler: Grandis keeps flipping back and forth between working for Bagramon and working for the Royal Knights.]]
* HeelRealization: [[spoiler: Grandis realizes that he's become no better than the raiders who destroyed his village once he opens the gates to New Terminal for the Demon Lords. [=VictoryGreymon=] pointing this out is what spurs him into his HeelFaceTurn.]]
* HollywoodAtheist: [=GrandisKuwagamon=] stopped believing in Yggdrasil after his village was destroyed as a child.
* IJustWantToBeFree: After he's taken prisoner by the Royal Knights, he'll do anything to regain his freedom. More than freedom, he wants to be in control.
* InsultOfEndearment: Grandis (itself an affectionate nickname) is fond of giving semi- [[AffectionateNickname Affectionate Nicknames]] to others, though they're tongue-in-cheek. He drops the "mon" in Blitz and Bolg. He also calls Paildramon "P" and [=VictoryGreymon=] "Vic" or "dragon", and Dorbickmon "lizard".
* IveComeTooFar: [[spoiler: After his FaceHeelTurn, Grandis uses this as justification for why he can't go back and turn himself in, leading to him working for Bagramon once again.]]
* JerkAss: He has a rough personality and he frequently mocks people.
* LockedInTheDungeon: After Grandis' capture, he is locked in the Royal Knights' dungeon.
* ManipulativeBastard: [=GrandisKuwagamon=] knows how to play other Digimons' emotions, values, and perceptions in order to take advantage of them. [[spoiler: When he realises that he is still going to jail for a couple years after helping the Royal Knights, he plays up his defeat and sorrow in front of [=SaviorHackmon=]. He tells him how hard it was growing up on the streets and all the discrimination that he faced. He plays on [=SaviorHackmon's=] sympathy and belief in him and convinces him to help him remove the virus from his body. [=SaviorHackmon=] agrees and asks [=VictoryGreymon=] for help. He is able to use their better natures against them by using the bond of trust that was forming between them. After he uses the opportunity to attack them and escape, he comes across Paildramon, who he faces down in a stand off. Knowing how much she cares about her own brother, he tells her that he had a brother as well, who died in front of him. As she is distracted by this, he attacks her and escapes.]]
* MrViceGuy: He regularly drinks alcohol and enjoys the occasional round of sex.
* NeverBeHurtAgain: He [[spoiler:escapes the Royal Knights' custody]] because the last time his life was out of his hands, his hometown was burning to the ground around him.
* OpportunisticBastard: [[spoiler: When [=GrandisKuwagamon=] realises that he's looking at a lengthy prison sentence, he'll do anything to get out of it, whether it's working for the Royal Knights or betraying their trust and manipulating [=SaviorHackmon=] in order to escape when that doesn't work as he planned. While clever in the moment, he didn't think about the long term consequences of his actions.]]
* PlayingTheVictimCard: [=GrandisKuwagamon=] does this to manipulate [[spoiler: [=SaviorHackmon=] and [=VictoryGreymon=] so that they take pity on him and remove the inhibitor virus.]]
* PowerNullifier: Grandis is implanted with one [[spoiler: after getting taken prisoner by the Royal Knights.]]
* PowerOfTheVoid: [=GrandisKuwagamon=] can enter the void using his Zone Black Hole attack, and his other attacks also involve the void or warping space into nothingness.
* PowerPincers: In both of his forms, his pincers are strong enough to cut through trees.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Grandis frequently gives other Digimon a verbal undressing, especially in combat.
* RecruitingTheCriminal: [[spoiler: Alphamon does this to [=GrandisKuwagamon=] so that they can find out who is masterminding the escape of the Demon Lords. Grandis goes along with it in exchange for freedom.]]
* RedEyesTakeWarning: He has red eyes in both of his forms and they befit his ruthless skill.
* SelfFulfillingProphecy: He tells a captured [=SaviorHackmon=] that he and the other members of Black Pincer Company look out for themselves first, which sets Bolgmon against him. When Bolgmon finally does betray him, Blitzmon immediately goes along with it purely to save his own hide.
* ShockCollar: The Proximal Restraint System gives Grandis an electric shock whenever he gets too far from Paildramon.
* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids: Grandis lives and breathes this trope, especially around the likes of [=SaviorHackmon=] and [=VictoryGreymon=].
* SpaceMaster: As [=GranKuwagamon=] he can teleport through space and fire attacks that warp the reality of space.
* StealthExpert: Stealth and infiltration ops are [=GrandisKuwagamon's=] strongest point.
* TalkingYourWayOut: [[spoiler: [=GrandisKuwagamon=] manages to manipulate [=SaviorHackmon=] and [=VictoryGreymon=] by playing into their sympathies, telling them how rough a life he had and how he feels like less than a Digimon due to his imprisonment. He gets them to remove his inhibiting virus, and as soon as it's gone, he turns on them and escapes.]]
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Between Dorbickmon and [=GrandisKuwagamon=].
* ThinkingUpPortals: [=GrandisKuwagamon=] can do this in his [=GranKuwagamon=] form. He uses a portal to get himself at the others away from the Metal Empire's CityGuards.
* TornadoMove: His Grand Death Screw attack as a [=GranKuwagamon=].
* TrashTalk: Grandis is fond of this in a fight, partially for strategic reasons, partially because he likes insulting people.
* VillainTeleportation: In his [=GranKuwagamon=] form with Zone Black Hole. It's less actual teleportation than it is moving through spatial rifts between places though.
* WasItReallyWorthIt: [[spoiler:This is the point that [=VictoryGreymon=] tries to hammer in when they meet during the battle in New Terminal. [=GrandisKuwagamon=] continued working for Bagramon because he thought that he was asserting control over his own life by doing so. His HeelRealization comes when he realizes that he was just letting his emotions control him, which let the Demon Lords manipulate him into becoming just like the Digimon who destroyed his village. Escaping for the sake of his own freedom was one thing, but freedom would have been doing anything but this.]]
* WinYourFreedom: [[spoiler: [=GrandisKuwagamon=] agrees to help the Royal Knights in exchange for reducing his sentence.]]
* WolverineClaws: The Gran Killers are these.

!!Blitzmon
Blitzmon has the coolest head of Black Pincer Company, and he’s usually the brains behind their operations.
----
* BetrayalByInaction: Unlike Bolgmon, who was actively plotting against Grandis, Blitzmon lets Grandis carry the can when they're spotted by the Royal Knights.
* CombatPragmatist: Blitzmon resorts to whatever means he can to win a fight.
* ConsummateProfessional: Blitzmon is always thinking about the job, and he constantly chastises Bolgmon for being unprofessional.
* CynicismCatalyst: Like Grandis, the destruction of their village made him very cold and cynical.
* DealWithTheDevil: Blitzmon made a deal with Bagramon, agreeing to have Bolgmon and himself work with him and the Demon Lords for money.
* FairWeatherFriend: When they're discovered by the Royal Knights in Saversburg, Blitzmon is perfectly happy to go along with Bolgmon's plan to let Grandis be the scapegoat.
* {{Greed}}: This is what Blitzmon is primarily driven by.
* HandBlast: Blitzmon shoots lightning from his fists.
* LightningBruiser: Blitzmon hits hard enough to take down Mega-level Digimon and moves quickly. The extra strength comes from him having the X-Antibody despite not it altering his appearance.
* MiserAdvisor: Blitzmon is this to Black Pincer Company. He's in charge of their finances and his angle typically revolves around how they can make the most money.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: He says as much to [[spoiler: Bagramon]] that he's only willing to help him for money.
* PsychoticSmirk: While he's calm and composed most of the time, Blitzmon has one of these whenever he's particularly devious.
* ShockAndAwe: All of his attacks involve electricity.
* TheStoic: Nothing really fazes Blitzmon and he maintains a cool head all of the time.
* ThunderBeetle: Blitzmon uses electric attacks and is a beetle.

!!Bolgmon
Bolgmon is a rather unhinged member of Black Pincer Company who takes glee in blowing stuff up. He’s also the main muscle of the three, and is in charge of logistics.
----
* ArmCannon: His arms are technically these, capable of firing blasts of electricity.
* AxCrazy: Bolgmon is this completely. He takes lots of pleasure in blowing Digimon up.
* BloodKnight: Bolgmon prefers blasting things to stealth.
* CombatPragmatist: Like Grandis, Blitzmon isn't afraid to fight dirty.
* EvilIsPetty: Part of the reason that Bolgmon turns on Grandis is because he kept insulting Bolgmon after alerting the Royal Knights to their hideout.
* FixedForwardFacingWeapon: Bolgmon's horn cannon is this since he can only aim it in the direction his head is pointing.
* GatlingGood: His arm cannons, which generate electricity by spinning.
* GigglingVillain: Bolgmon snickers a lot, and it's usually when he's doing something bad.
* HellishPupils: He's often described as having an psychotic look like this in his eyes.
* HoverTank: Bolgmon's got vents on his underside that allow him to hover for limited periods of time.
* JerkAss: Bolgmon is a major one. He's caustic, confrontational, and he loves violence.

* PsychoElectro: Bolgmon's extremely unhinged and he's an electricity user.
* PsychoForHire: Bolgmon is this, big-time.
* PutTheLaughterInSlaughter: Bolgmon cackles a lot, especially when shooting Digimon.
* ShockAndAwe: Mainly with his Ultimate Thunder attacks.
* TheStarscream: To [=GrandisKuwagamon=]. He was ready to throw Grandis under the bus.
* TankGoodness: Bolgmon is a tank with insectoid features.
* ThunderBeetle: Bolgmon, being a hybrid Digimon, also has lightning attacks.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: The Metal Empire]]
!! The Metal Empire as a whole
----
* BigBrotherIsWatching: This is done to crack down on dissidents.
* TheEmpire: Double-subverted. The Metal Empire is a big economic and military power, and it certainly morally dubious, but it is not nearly as powerful as TheEmpire should be, and it has no ambitions of taking over the Digital World. It is, instead, inward-looking and it has decided not to expand its territory if left to its own devices. At least until the whole mess with Black Pincer Company convinces Chaosdramon of the need to expand across the world.
* SinisterSurveillance: The D-Brigade is responsible for this.
* StateSec: The D-Brigade is this. It started out as just the military for the Metal Empire, but after a coup, they took control of the government with Chaosdramon at the head.
* UnPerson: Digimon who go against the Metal Empire become this.

!! Chaosdramon
Chaosdramon is the emperor of the Metal Empire. He seized the throne in a violent coup called the Rust Purge, setting himself up as a dictator and ushering in an era of development and isolationism.
----
* ArmCannon: He sports one of these.
* BackpackCannon: Chaosdramon's Hyper Mugen Cannons qualify as these.
* BecameTheirOwnAntithesis: [[spoiler: Chaosdramon goes from a calm, methodical dictator obsessed with order to a rampaging monster who guns down his own troops in the final battle. Part of this is due to Fujinmon's coup against him as well as exposure to dark data.]]
* {{BFG}}: His Hyper Mugen Cannons.
* TheCorruption: Once he starts channeling dark data, it begins turning him ever more violent.
* TheEmperor: Chaosdramon is this to the Metal Empire.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Chaosdramon is described as having a deep, breathy voice.
* EvilSoundsRaspy: Chaosdramon is described as having a deep, breathy voice.
* FixedForwardFacingWeapon: The Hyper Mugen Cannons.
* GeneralRipper: Chaosdramon becomes this in the final battle when he starts to lose control.
* KarmicDeath: [[spoiler: He came to power by heading a military coup against [=JumboGamemon=], and he was killed by a military coup started against him by Fujinmon, one of [=JumboGamemon's=] former supporters. Also, his rule was defined by cold, efficient, [[LawfulEvil order]], but thanks to the dark data corrupting him, he became a chaotic, mindless destroyer.]]
* LargeAndInCharge: He's one of the largest Digimon in the Metal Empire and is the Emperor.
* MachineMonotone: Chaosdramon speaks with a kind of echo-y, mechanical voice.
* ProperlyParanoid: He does not trust the commanders, particularly Fujinmon who used to work for [=JumboGamemon=]. Fujinmon is currently planning something against him and trying to get Raijinmon to join him.
* ThePurge: When he took over, the first thing he did was kill as many of his predecessor [=JumboGamemon=]'s supporters as possible. He has [=JumboGamemon=] himself assassinated later on.
* SanitySlippage: Once a paranoid Chaosdramon starts tapping into the power of the Dark Area, he becomes more and more violent and chaotic.
* TheStoic: He is generally this, up until Chapter 23 when paranoia and dark data creeps in.
* TakeOverTheWorld: Following the Mamemon Kingdom receiving dome of the Empire's blueprints, he starts into some more expansionist plots with this as the end goal.
* UnholyNuke: During the battle for Saversburg, he starts charging his cannons with power from the dark rifts, causing them to expand.
* UnwittingPawn: He was this to [[spoiler: Bagramon.]]
* VillainousBreakdown: Chaosdramon experiences one of these during the chapters "Chaos" and "Dance of the Machine God". It is due to a mix of Fujinmon's betrayal, the battle turning against him, and all the dark data that he had been using for his attacks. He turns from TheStoic to a roaring killing machine.

!! Raijinmon
One of the three commanders of the D-Brigade. Fujinmon is known as the Thunderclap Commander and is quite the fan of the Royal Knights.
----
* AntiVillain: Raijinmon fights with the Royal Knights out of a sense of duty for the Metal Empire, but he is a generally pleasant guy.
* CoDragons: With Suijinmon and Fujinmon.
* GlorySeeker: Raijinmon's main aspiration is becoming as famous as the Royal Knights.
* HandBlast: He shoots beam blasts from his Blitz Arms.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: Raijinmon betrays Chaosdramon in the final battle against the Metal Empire.]]
* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee: In every interaction Raijinmon has with the Royal Knights, he's subtly fanboying over them.
* MostFanficWritersAreGirls: Subverted, his biggest issue with admitting he's written fanfiction was hearing that his work may have been the reason Duftmon spoke badly of all fanfiction on principal. It even goes the extra mile with the stereotypes in that his story did include a [[SlashFic gay romance]] between Duftmon and Alphamon despite otherwise attempting to be as factually accurate as possible.
* RedBaron: "The Thunderclap Commander".
* ReverseArmFold: Raijinmon is a fan of doing this.
* ShipperOnDeck: For Alphamon and Duftmon, which was not helped by Dukemon indicating his "ship" ''was'' canon after the fanfiction came up.
* ShockAndAwe: Most of Raijinmon's attacks are electricity-based.

!! Fujinmon
One of the three commanders of the D-Brigade. Fujinmon is known as the Hurricane Commander and used to serve under Chaosdramon's predecessor, [=JumboGamemon=]. This is a source of continual friction between him and Chaosdramon.
----
* AntiVillain: Fujinmon is deceitful and he fights against the Royal Knights, but he is actively working against Chaosdramon.
* BaddieFlattery: After capturing Dukemon and Dynasmon, Dynasmon questions their Fujinmon's security measures. Fujinmon tells him not to underestimate himself.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: His Critical Arms.
* BlowYouAway: Fujinmon can manipulate wind and attack with it using his Marut Cyclone attack.
* CoDragons: With Raijinmon and Suijinmon.
* FormerRegimePersonnel: Used to work for [=JumboGamemon=] until Chaosdramon overthrew him. He's still a high-ranking member of the D-Brigade, but it's a source of mutual distrust between them.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: Fuujinmon betrays Chaosdramon in the final battle against the Metal Empire and convinces the other two commanders to join him.]]
* InternalReformist: Fujinmon reveals himself to be this.
* LaserBlade: His Critical Arms are these.
* LegacyOfService: Originally served [=JumboGamemon=] until Chaosdramon overthrew him
* ManipulativeBastard: Fujinmon manipulates pretty much everybody that he talks to in the lead up to [[spoiler: his betrayal of Chaosdramon.]]
* RedBaron: "The Hurricane Commander".
* TheStarscream: He's planning something to bring Chaosdramon down, albeit for a good reason.

!! Suijinmon
One of the three commanders of the D-Brigade. Suijinmon is known as the Waterfall Commander and is the most loyal to Chaosdramon. He is also the strategist of the three. Despite this, he genuinely cares for his troops.
----
* AFatherToHisMen: Genuinely cares for his subordinates.
* AntiVillain: Suijinmon is loyal to the Metal Empire and willingly fights the Royal Knights, but he is kind and he cares for his friends and subordinates.
* BackpackCannon: The Mugen Cannons on his back.
* BerserkButton: If you're a stranger, never touch him, if you value your life. Also never hurt his subordinates. [[spoiler:He eventually turns against Chaosdramon when the latter starts firing indiscriminately and hitting many of his troops.]]
* TheBerserker: It's hard to make him mad, but when he does...
* {{BFG}}: His Mugen Cannons are these.
* BlindObedience: Towards Chaosdramon, whom he never questions [[spoiler: until he watches Chaosdramon kill his soldiers.]]
* CoDragons: With Raijinmon and Fujinmon.
* ConflictingLoyalty: Suijinmon has a crisis of loyalty when is forced to choose between Fujinmon, his friend, and Chaosdramon, his emperor.
* DefensiveFeintTrap: Suijinmon employs this on the Royal Knights successfully.
* {{Foil}}: To Duftmon. While neither of them is a people person, Suijinmon cares for his troops on a personal level while Duftmon is far less willing to consider the individuals working under him.
* FixedForwardFacingWeapon: Suijinmon has two of these - the lower pair of Mugen Cannons in his shoulders. The upper pair of cannons mounted on top of his shoulders have a greater degree of mobility.
* GeniusBruiser: Suijinmon definitely fits this role. He is extremely intelligent and logical, and is also the strongest physically.
* GroundPunch: His Accel Arm attack involves smashing his fists into the ground and sending shockwaves through it.
* HatesBeingTouched: He hates to be touched by people be doesn't trust, to the extent that it's his BerserkButton.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: Suijinmon is eventually convinced to betray Chaosdramon in the final battle against the Metal Empire when he sees him killing his troops.]]
* PowerFist: The Accel Arms.
* RedBaron: "The Waterfall Commander".
* ShockwaveStomp: He uses his Accel Arms to tear up the ground with a massive shockwave.
* ShoulderCannon: Suijinmon has a total of four cannons on his shoulders.
* TheSpock: Speaks very precisely, has no sense of humor and is the D-Brigade's strategist. Unlike most examples, he genuinely cares for his subordinates.
* TheStrategist: He acts as this for the D-Brigade.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Chaosdramon.
* WaveMotionGun: His Mugen Cannons.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: [[spoiler: Bagramon]]]]
!!Bagramon
[=DarkKnightmon=]'s estranged brother. Also known as the Sage of Death, Bagramon was grievously wounded in a rebellion against the religion of the Heavenly Choir and now gives advice for a living. He masterminded the conflict between the Royal Knights and the Metal Empire to get the Seven Great Demon Lords out of the Dark Area.
--
* AffluentAscetic: Bagramon was a wealthy aristocrat, but he gave up his wealth to join the Exodus. Even after his falling, he made a modest living as a fortune-reading hermit. [[spoiler: Really, he has enough money from telling extremely accurate predictions using his Invisible Snake Eyes for wealthy Digimon that he was able to help fund his true plans.]]
* AnonymousBenefactor: [[spoiler: He is this to Black Pincer Company, Chaosdramon, and [=PrinceMamemon=] in different capacities. Really, he's playing them off each other to provoke a war.]]
* ApparentlyPowerlessPuppetmaster: [[spoiler: Bagramon stays under the radar and pretends to be removed from the Heavenly Choir and the Demon Lords by pretending to be an ascetic hermit. In reality, he is secretly engineering the break out of the Demon Lords.]]
* BecameTheirOwnAntithesis: [[spoiler: Bagramon started off as an idealistic, devout supporter of the Religion of Light, even going so far as to execute heretics. However, he eventually becomes disillusioned and ends up releasing the Demon Lords and rebelling against the Heavenly Choir.]]
* BestServedCold: After Bagramon's exile, he takes the role of a peaceful hermit. [[spoiler: Really, he's biding his time to take revenge against God and the Heavenly Choir.]]
* BlindSeer: Subverted. He's a seer who's blind in one eye, but he can't tell the future - his artificial eye can let him see wherever he wants in the world as long as he knows where he's looking at.
* BlueBlood: Bagramon was an aristocrat, alongside [=DarkKnightmon=].
* BrokenAngel: After his punishment for rebellion, half his body was destroyed.
* ChekhovsGunman: Bagramon was innocuously introduced early in Holy War as [=DarkKnightmon's=] brother. He is later revealed to be the driving force of the plot.
* CrisisOfFaith: Bagramon's background character arc in, you guessed it, "A Crisis of Faith". He begins to question his beliefs until he can no longer resist openly challenging God any longer.
* CynicismCatalyst: His belief in the Religion of Light is first shaken when an Angemon who sincerely questions the organization's dogma is executed and uses his last words to drop several {{Armor Piercing Question}}s.
* {{Determinator}}: Despite losing half of his body, [[spoiler: Bagramon was determined enough to drag his mangled body to the World Tree, carve himself a new body, and swear that he will rid the world of God's injustice.]]
* DefiantToTheEnd: As he awaits his punishment for partaking in the Heavenly War, Bagramon quietly challenges God to do his worst.
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: He as good as did this to the Being of Goodness during his rebellion, knowing his possible fate.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Bagramon is disgusted when [[spoiler: he witnesses the Demon Lords absorb other Digimons' data.]]
* EvilStoleMyFaith: The reason why Bagramon began to question his loyalty towards God is due to the constant destruction by evil Digimon that he witnessed on the Digital World.
* EyeScream: During Bagramon's punishment for rebelling, his right eye is destroyed by divine lightning.
* FaithHeelTurn: Bagramon had serious doubts about the Being of Goodness, but he ignored them and served loyalty. It wasn't until Angemon's and Lucemon's open challenges that Bagramon found himself agreeing with them. When Lucemon was to be executed for his heresy and plans for rebellion, Bagramon couldn't stand aside any longer, so he helped the Seven Demon Lords escape and aided them in their rebellion. He wanted to replace God's injustice with his own 'true' justice.
* FallenAngel: He was grievously wounded and cast out after rebelling against the Heavenly Choir. Chapter 33 of Holy War shows that he is still in rebellion.
* TheGrimReaper: Bagramon served this role for the Heavenly Choir.

* TheHermit: Bagramon lives a hermetic life in the Argent Mountains where he keeps a low profile, away from the Heavenly Choir.
* HermitGuru: He works as a mystical sage who offers fortunes and advice to those who seek him out.
* TheIdealist: In contrast to [=DarkKnightmon=]'s cynicism. Bagramon threw his full support behind the Religion of Light's [[FloatingContinent Exodus]] and he eventually joined Lucemon's rebellion due to disillusionment with the organization. He really does think he's working toward a better world, even as he frees the Seven Great Demon Lords.
* ImpoverishedPatrician: Zig-zagged. He was this by choice. He was a noble, but he sold all of his property in order to fund the Exodus Project. However, since the rebellion, although he took on the life of being a mendicant hermit, he has secretly been using his Invisible Snake Eyes ability for the benefit of rich clients in order to amass large quantities of wealth.
* TheManBehindTheMan: [[spoiler: To Chaosdramon. Bagramon masterminded the whole mess with Black Pincer Company to get Chaosdramon to open the Dark Area.]]

* RedBaron: "The Sage of Death".
* RedEyesTakeWarning: An eye and an eyelight in this case.
* RedRightHand: More like red right side, though his arm is gigantic. It's the result of him patching himself together with pieces of a holy tree.
* TheRightHandOfDoom: Bagramon's right arm is completely skeletal.
* SiblingYinYang: With [[spoiler: [=DarkKnightmon=]. [=DarkKnightmon=] is TheCynic while Bagramon is TheIdealist. They also have contrasting dark and light themes.]]
* ThinkingUpPortals: Bagramon can do this with his Astral Snatcher.

* WalkingTheEarth: Bagramon says that he did this after he was banished from the Sky Colonies after the failed rebellion.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Bagramon's goals are to bring justice to the Digital World in, his view, the absence of God's. If it means rebelling and toppling the world order in order to do so, he's fine with that.

[[folder: [[spoiler: The Seven Great Demon Lords]]]]
!!The Seven Great Demon Lords as a whole
The Seven Great Demon Lords were originally high-ranking Digimon in the Heavenly Choir's hierarchy. Each had their own (often self-centered) reasons for disagreeing with the Heavenly Choir's policies. They all gravitated toward Lucemon, who began holding secret meetings to discuss the writings on an executed heretic whose views he shared. Their rebellion was born out of these meetings and ultimately saw them all banished to the Dark Area, which they escaped with Bagramon's help.
----
* DemonLordsAndArchDevils: There is no one ruler of the Dark Area. The Seven Demon Lords represent the most powerful demons and they are at the top of the hierarchy, each with their own subordinates.
* DarkIsEvil: Played straight.
* EmbodimentOfVice: All seven Demon Lords are the physical embodiments of the Seven Deadly Sins. After meeting Beelzebumon, [=GrandisKuwagamon=] realizes that they're able to intensify the feelings that contribute to said sins through their mere presence.
* FallenAngel: All seven of them are these, after having rebelled against the Heavenly Choir.

* RageAgainstTheHeavens: All seven of the Demon Lords picked up arms to fight against what they believed was an unjust god and the Heavenly Choir.
* TheRevolutionWillNotBeCivilized: The Demon Lords give up any pretense of heroism once they achieve their demon forms, absorbing the data of Digimon and carrying out massive war crimes during the Heavenly War. And then the ColonyDrop happened.
* SealedEvilInACan: The Seven Demon Lords were imprisoned in the Dark Area after their defeat.
* SevenDeadlySins: Each of the seven represents one of the seven sins.

* FauxAffablyEvil: Lucemon always maintains a civil and dignified appearance, but he is actually evil and condescending.

* SummonMagic: "Ammit" can call a beast from the Dark Area as an attack.
* UnholyNuke: "Necro Eclipse", an attack that envelops [=AncientSphinxmon's=] foe in darkness and death.

* EverythingsBetterWithSamurai: Wears samurai armor.
* {{Foil}}: To Duftmon. While both are master strategists, Duftmon does not consider individual Digimon at all in his strategies while Tactimon tries to care for his subordinates, though apparently not to the level that Suijinmon does. Unlike Duftmon, he also realizes the importance of considering the effects that individual fighters' psychology have on small task forces.
* TheRival: He and Duftmon debated near-constantly while they were both students.

* FloatingContinent: Their Sky Colonies were built as part of their Project Exodus, as part of a schism with the church of Yggdrasil. They originally intended to only build Sky Colony: Lambent, but were able to build to smaller ones with the leftover funds.
* OurAngelsAreDifferent: Angel Digimon (including a rabbit angel) with a theocratic, hierarchical society.

[[folder: The Mamemon Kingdom]]
!![=PrinceMamemon=]
The King of the small and relatively unimportant Mamemon Kingdom. He has delusions of grandeur, and he eventually gets the Royal Knights dragged into his follies.
---
* CluelessBoss: He is this to the Mamemon Kingdom. He's disconnected from reality and while not evil or bad-intentioned, makes a series of poor decisions.
* IdiotBall: He decides to pretend that he received some blueprints the Black Pincer Company. The Metal Empire declares war. His many blunders also turn his most trusted advisor against him.
* PointyHairedBoss: He's an incompetant ruler, believing the Royal Knights to be his subordinates and provoking the Metal Empire into declaring a war on his kingdom.
* SmallNameBigEgo: [=PrinceMamemon=] has this in spades. He grossly overestimates his own importance, and he actually thinks that the Royal Knights are his subordinates. The only reason he even founded the Mamemon Kingdom in the first place was because a [=KingEtemon=] convinced him he was royalty as a joke.

* DudeWheresMyRespect: The reason he gives for betraying [=PrinceMamemon=]. While [=PrinceMamemon=] was an incompetent who needed to go and the Mamemon Kingdom's army stood no chance, he also had [[AmbitionIsEvil other reasons for doing so]].
* EyelessFace: His face is a mirror with lips.
* PragmaticVillainy: Doesn't really want to see [=PrinceMamemon=] imprisoned as a rebellion would quickly form. When one does form anyway he decides to set up a sting operation rather than just arresting them directly.
* PsychoticSmirk: Does this a lot.
* PuppetKing: For the Metal Empire. He sees it as a stepping stone to advance even further.
* TheQuisling: Mercuremon betrayed the Mamemon Kingdom to the Metal Empire in order to ingratiate himself into Metal Empire society and rise through the ranks.
* SmugSnake: Smug? Yes. Treacherous? Yes.
* TheStarscream: He did have legitimate reasons for doing so such as not getting any respect for cleaning up after [=PrinceMamemon=]'s many screw-ups and the fact that the Mamemon Kingdom's army would have stood no chance against the D-Brigade. He also did it for the sake of his own ambitions, as he confesses to Hagurumon.
* TreacherousAdvisor: Ultimately proves to be this. Admittedly, he has more reason than most to be one.
* YesMan: To [=PrinceMamemon=], though he clearly has his own agenda.
