Super Mario Logan is best described as every trope with the phased-out South Park wannabe sub-genre stuffed into one package; from the egregious stereotypes, stock plot-lines, comedy that garners a moderate chuckle at best but mostly soul-crushing cringe at worst, and a cast that falls under the Eight Deadly Words with flying colors - and yet it doesn't even reach the standards of those.
The most prominent and egregious flaws of these videos are their maddening reliance on two things: Status Quo Is God, and rehashing plots from other media, sometimes even rehashing one another's. Perhaps the latter wouldn't be too bad if they put something of an unusual or welcome spin on them, but even when they try that, they never seem to go anywhere. I'm not demanding Bojack-level complexity, but I expect something to give me a reason as to why I should stick around to see what these characters get into next.
Speaking of which, that leads us to the characters themselves. They are so stock, so flat, so unfunny, and so utterly loathsome that one could use them as a case study in how not to write a character-based comedy series. Some of them don't even amount to anything more than one-note gags, while certain videos can have entire characters taken out of them and not have a single thing change about them. Mario and Chef Pee Pee are the perpetually miserable punching bags. Bowser flip-flops between being a douchey Abusive Parent and a childish goofball with selfish tendencies. Junior is kind of a brat and kind of a schemer, with his friends failing to be any more interesting beyond respectively being one of many walking and talking one-note gags and serving no discernible purpose to the stories whatsoever. Jeffy is unendurable, Rosalina is kind of Mario's ditzy wife, Brooklyn T. Guy is just not funny, the list goes on.
Super Mario Logan is a testimony to how something can have as little effort put into it as humanly possible and yet still amass a sizable following, whilst the innumerable amount of content creators that not only put effort into their work, but also have a sense of dignity and the common sense to respect their audiences remain in the wayside. If you want a show about horrible people that's actually funny, watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. If you want to watch a Mario plush channel, just stick with Cute Mario Bros., or literally anything else. Just stay away from this pile of rancid felt as far as you can.
