Warning, this fic wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea due to being a slash fic. A rather dark one. But for me, it was perfect because it helped with my dissatisfaction with the ending.
While I enjoy a happy ending, the ending seemed a little too perfect. Satoru doesn't face any consequences physically or emotionally from his coma and not much is made of Yashiro's political power and Kenya didn't to live to his potential.
This story however addresses these and takes it to a rather dark conclusion.
Plus this fic has the only justified use of Wimpification I have seen. Satoru doesn't get to miraculously perfectly recover from a coma. While Satoru can walk for limited amounts, he is very physically weak and exhausts easily. But he is still Satoru and is very determined and will fight if he has to. This factors into a sense of anxiety and unease as Satoru has limited options to overpower Yashiro.
The story's major flaw is the pacing of the post-trial chapters before Satoru's kidnapping. It's paced too fast so I couldn't really tell until another reading that months had passed since the trial.
Otherwise, it's a pretty good thriller that needs more love!
FanficRecs A good fanfic that helped me deal with the ending. WARNING: UNMARKED SPOILERS
