FanficRecs Started great and then went down to meh
Really well written and highly recommend, but it suffers the same issue many other long fics have which is really slow/boring parts between arcs as well as chapters that provide a lot of minutia detail for the sake of 'world-building' but the information is pretty extra, does not move the plot forward, and isn't necessary for the story. Also, if you're not into people dressing like they live in 1700's Brittain than that aspect may annoy you. Having said all that, I made it past chp 200, so it's still a great find.
FanficRecs Shocking Swerve tossed Suspension of Disbelief
I was completely absorbed into this fic, until the main character decided that "she Must Marry" and does a ritual to find her husband.
It was such an abrupt plot change that it threw me out of the suspension of disbelief. It was a "shocking swerve" to join the crossover, to use a trope. The plot up to that point would have made it a masterpiece all by itself, but there was no foreshadowing of the other side at all, save for the genre listing it as a crossover.
I want to like this, but I really can't. It was such a disappointment that I gave up on it. More power to the author, but the joining of the two felt so contrived to me.
FanficRecs Wouldn't Reccomend
Harry's character ends up being OC and the story just goes off the rails about halfway through. To be honest, I thought it was decent at the beginning with excellent writing and such, but around there it got super contrived and seemed melodramatic for no reason except to make various characters awesome and badass. I'd rate it at most 6/10 and to be honest, if I'm judging only by the most recent chapters 4/10. I think the first chapters deserve praise, and that's the only reason I'm giving it a higher score.
