How many O Cs are in this thing? Honestly, I wonder how it is that you can dare label this fic as "Invader Zim The Series" when over half of the characters in it never show up once in Invader Zim. Also, the canon character's personalities are abused so mercilessly that, by the end, they're hardly recognizable (I am aware that this can be a good thing if done correctly and accurately, but in this case, it's not).
The main character, Nick, a self-insert of the author, has been stated in this trope page to be the opposite of Jhonen (which becomes excruciatingly obvious in the comedy department). This alone makes it difficult to classify this fic as being faithful to the series when the author and many of his creations are so opposite to Jhonen.
To further my previous question of why this is called "Invader Zim The Series," I wonder, how is it that the canon in the fic can be so inconsistent to the canon in the series if it is titled, "The Series." For example, the smeets being trained on Devastis. In canon, Devastis is a military training planet, yes, but, smeets are trained in the underground of planet Irk, near where they are born.
In the end, it appears as if the writer is trying to write his own story, but is interrupted by the chapters of canon that must be thrown in in-between.
But to put aside the inaccuracies in the fic's canon and the absurdity of it all masquerading as, "The Series," there is still the problem of the quality of the writing as well as the unbearable length. The writing style of the author is both offensively monotonous and mundane. The entire fic could be condensed to "[insert character] did [insert action]," accompanied by unnecessary events that do nothing to move the plot along. It is also unclear as to what style the author is trying to accomplish. At many points within the fic, background music and camera angles are mentioned. Is this prose, or a script? Many characters are also introduced within a short amount of time, making it nearly impossible to invest any emotional value into any of them, causing the reader to then give little value to the events surrounding them.
Basically, to even read this fic without knowing anything about the original series would be tediously long and boring.
