A surprising crossover that somehow works really well

Neon Genesis Evangelion Just A Boy is a Dragon Ball Z and Evangelion crossover that somehow got me into crossover fanfictions; when I heard of the pairing, I genuinely did not think it could work, and I was amazed when I had found out it genuinely works, The story is basically Gohan during the events of the Cell saga while training in the hyperbolic time chamber ends up in Tokyo-3 of the Evangelion universe and now has to help NERV defeat the angels and living life until the opportunity he can head home arises. Overall I felt the story was written extremely well, good grammar, character's are extremely in character overall, and it's overall how I feel would happen if a Dragon Ball character ended up in this universe; I also love how much of an impact Gohan adds to the story in more ways then helping fight the angels, such as him overhearing Hikari when asking to tag along with Shinji and Toji started a chain reaction with Toji and Hikari actually pursuing a relationship. Many similar occurrences happen like that. Overall, Gohan's general being there and general compassion turns the group of kids from Eva to be a lot nicer to each other and connect even further. One thing I imagine could turn a few people off from the story would be the strange amount of focus on shipping and or romantic relationship building; granted, it's all well written, and all makes sense, of course, but I imagine if you're coming into a Dragon Ball Z crossover you more than likely don't care too much, but that was just me personally. Overall my favorite aspect of the story was the dynamic between Gohan and the pilots/students. Gohan never had any friends his own age growing up. The Eva children are all extremely psychologically fucked, so when you combine someone who just wants to be a kid and happens to be pure of heart with some kids who just need to vent out some frustrations, you get a story of some cool and very touching moments. This is my first review for fanfiction, but I genuinely loved the story, and I hope I conveyed my thoughts well enough in this, I highly recommend it, and I genuinely hope one day we can read the final two chapters that never came out.
