Well written, but incredibly spiteful
I'll echo the others in saying that Embers has pretty good writing, but that it twists and reinterprets At LA lore to make Zuko the greatest, wisest paragon of virtuous justice that ever was, and made basically every other canon character ignorant, stupid, or both....
The author also does their level best to excuse the Fire Nation's atrocities while also writing a creepy interpretation of the Air Nomads that gave off some serious "Rootless cosmopolitan" vibes. As in the Air Nomads in this fic were given a lot of the same traits a certain German Reich attributed to the Jews. Which wouldn't be bad if this were presented as harmful Fire Nation propaganda, and not the actual truth. It has some REALLY unfortunate implications.
