Regarding "Slender Mane"'s cameo, there seems to have been some doubt expressed as to whether or not the figure in question bears an objective resemblance to Slender Man. I was hoping that we could clear this up.

Here's a picture of how Slender Man is commonly portrayed. His distinguishing features are a blank white face, a suit jacket, a white shirt, and a tie.

Here's a high-quality gif that shows the frames of animation in question from Pinkie Apple Pie. As you can see, the figure in the gif clearly matches all of Slendy's distinguishing features: It has a blank white face, and it's wearing a suit jacket (with visible lapels), a white shirt, and a tie.

Suit jacket doesn't mean anything. Maybe it's a pony secret agent? Maybe it's just a stallion that likes to wear a suit jacket. Stranger things have happened. He's clearly got eyes and ears, and with him facing the camera, it's not exactly easy to tell whether he has a nose or not, but I'd hazard a guess that he does so...not so much with the featureless face.

Not that it really matters because "bearing an objective resemblance" is meaningless. My edits still stand. With no Word of God (given that Megan and Mike haven't ever heard of it, it's for the person who put it in to say) saying it is Slenderman (Slenderpony?), then all we're left with is a bunch of people who disagree on whether or not it's Slenderpronoun, so "Many fans believe" is to my mind an acceptable middle ground to deleting the Slenderman reference altogether as bunk (which is what I would like to do).

I'll accept the compromise, as it's much preferable to prolonging an edit war.

That being said, his face is featureless. He does have ears and a snout, but previous fan versions of ponified Slender Man had snouts and ears (but no mouths or nostrils) as well, so it's consistent. The episode's Slender Mane has no eyes. Instead, those lines on his face suggest the sunken-in areas where eyes would normally be (and in fact, you can see those lines on certain regular ponies, distinct from their eyes). The example pic that I gave of Slender Man doesn't reflect it, but portraying his face as having slight contours that suggest the traditional features of a face isn't an uncommon practice. Like This, This, and This.

Nevermind. The video was a parody.

A slight error: Pinkie Pie is Applejack's fourth cousin twice removed by a fifth cousin. Otherwise, Pinkie Pie would have to be from the same generation and probably the same age as Granny Smith.

There's also an obvious reference to Tara Strong's Twilightlicious.

Is there any reasonable way to put the subtle nods to Pinkie and Goldie's relation (the book pile, the gingerbread house, the names) into some sort of non-YMMV trope? I think it's well beyond reasonable doubt that this was intentional.
