Is there a trope for a pointless, repetitive job that leads nowhere? I am wondering because in this episode, the whole Peterson business is clearly on an endless loop: when the employees manage to create new "bits and parts", they are just sucked back up in the machine and turned into the material from which new bits and parts will be made... I am sure such a trope exists, because I saw this so many times in other media, but I can't find a page for it.
