When I originally proposed this trope, I was trying to build up a collection of tropes which center around "mad science", and so I was actually thinking mainly about fiction like Girl Genius where people essentially get engineering superpowers.
Now I've encountered the "forge frenzy" of the web novel Worth the Candle, which is similarly an engineering superpower (but can strike anyone unpredictably), and don't know where to put it.
