The name implies that the men are actively discouraged from forming bonds with their children, and to do otherwise would be taboo. In such a society it would be wrong for fatherhood to happen. However a lot of these examples show societies where fatherhood simply isn't a thing that happens, such as in animals. The fathers don't want to be anything other than Glorified Sperm Donors. So it's not so much that the mothers or society isn't allowing males/men to become fathers to their children, but rather that nobody thinks about it or wants it. If a male in these societies did want to become a father, it could be met with many different responses. Maybe they have no concept of fatherhood and it would be considered an Intergenerational Friendship with his biological children to that society. Maybe it would be well-recieved by the mother and society might catch on. Maybe she lets him, but doesn't care about it much or doesn't like it. Maybe the mother would chase him away for being a weirdo (which would work with the trope name).
I wonder if the name should be changed to fit the trope better where dads are absent as a part of society, without the implication that it's taboo. Or if maybe they're two different tropes, and this should be split, or if I'm just overthinking the name.
