Should the Dr Who example really be spoilered? The way the example words it makes it very obvious, plus the description mentions an "older sister" warning sign which is preent in the episode. And in any case it's named after the episode- sort of hard to miss.

As an afterthought, since this trope can be part of The Reveal, why isn't it covered by a no spoiler warning?

The Vampire Diaries: Elena's father is really her uncle. Her parents adopted her, but never told anyone. Bonus points in the fact that her actual aunt is going out with the ex-husband of her mother.
I'm not sure about some of the comics examples. The Transmetropolitan one possibly makes sense if you've read Transmetropolitan, but as written it's really hard to see how it relates to the trope. The Cutey Bunny one seems to just be that they're mistaken for sisters, not that there's any deception involved, and also "dependent" doesn't really make it clear what their actual relationship is; a dependent can also be a sister!
I'm more familiar with Batgirl than the other two, and ICBW but I don't remember any stories where Babs thought the Commish was her father but he was actually her uncle (or vice versa). ISTR that in the "actually her uncle" days, she still called him "Dad", but just because he was the man who raised her and so that's how she saw him.
