What's the dividing line between this trope and Earth That Was? Or some of the more extreme forms of Earth That Used to Be Better?
- A group of astronauts aboard the space shuttle Atlantis are the first to be taken out (by a meteor shower) in the film Armageddon. It's up to another group of astronauts to save the day.
I love Armageddon, but I don't see how this example fits the trope. With the Earth rendered effectively lifeless (even bacteria would take a hit) and the Space Station gone, the astronauts wouldn't have had a chance to carry on a further plot.
One group being taken out and another group succeeding with the job isn't even remotely this trope.
And this trope wasn't anywhere close to the plot of the movie anyway.
- Jehovah's Witnesses, doing whatever it takes.
The link leads to a picture of some astronauts doing a spacewalk, with the caption that's cited in the entry. There is nothing that shows that this involves the trope. It's just a joke on the line of the ones when Sadam Hussein was hiding.

Should Superman have its own But What About the Astronauts? subpage (or folder if comics in general ever get a subpage)?
