I think this trope should be expanded to include what are proposed as hypothetical cases—only for those situations to not be hypothetical at all. An example would be from Wreck-It Ralph with this exchange: Felix says "You don't know what it's like to be rejected and treated like a criminal!" Ralph's response is, "Yes, I do. That's every day of my life."
