The author, Mendal W. Johnson, died shortly after the novel was published. There's some speculation as to whether or not this is essentially one massive Author Appeal-fest, but most will tell you, the book is very well-written, and definitely gets under your skin. One review here attests to that.

Had to remove this for being review material in the introduction.

The book finally ends with... Barbara's death, and the kids successfully getting away with it.

I took this out because I don't think spoilers are supposed to be in the main body.

So what is Barbara's Fatal Flaw?

And why didn't anyone call her while she was staying at the Adams' house?

The dumber people think you are, the more surprised they're going to be when you kill them.
