Okay. I'm just going to casually address the ' Yubel and Johan are both Yubel's reincarnation. Somehow. ' point because it makes no sense whatsoever, even when you consider "YGO's history of people".

Apologies for my terrible English, I'm still learning it.

Reincarnation seems to be a prominent subject in both DM and GX. Examples of reincarnations being: Priest Seto and Seto, Sugoroku and Shimon, Mahad and Dark Magician, Priestess Isis and Ishizu, Bandit King Bakura and Bakura, Jūdai and Haou, ETC.

Having a look at this list, would Yubel and Johan fit into the pattern? No. Why, you ask? Well. First of all, there's a distinct pattern in YGO reincarnations, that being that: 1. Their appearances are alike 2. Although they may act differently (due to cultural and time differences) they're essentially still the same person.

Yubel and Johan look nothing alike. Both Yubel before being turned into a dragon and after do not look like Johan one bit. They may have the same coloured eyes but that isn't really enough evidence at all.

A common argument I've seen is that they both have feminine voices - but that doesn't mean anything. It's a weak argument if anything.

Moving on, I'm going to address some other arguments...

I honestly do not understand people who think Yubel = Johan, but from what I've heard, people also seem to think this way because they share 'similar' traits- that being they're both protective of Jūdai. Fair enough, I'd say- but no.

Their ways of protecting are different.

Disclaimer, but I do not hate on Yubel. I genuinely find them to be an intriguing character. But.

Yubel's method of 'protecting' Jūdai is toxic. They hurt Jūdai's friends- And for Sophia's sake, they hospitalise little children.

Now compare that with Johan, who does not hurt his opponent like Yubel. He simply puts up a Prism Wall or as we see, sacrifice himself for Jūdai to protect.

I don't think there are any other traits that can be stated other than that one.

You could argue that we don't know how Yubel acted in their past life since we see them mostly after being corrupted by the Light of Destruction, but how about we consider Yubel's purpose in the first place?

Yubel. Can't. Die. Yubel cannot be destroyed in battle. That is their whole purpose. It is stated by Yubel that they cannot be hurt but they can hurt others. Besides, to be reincarnated, you must first die. Yubel. Isn't. Dead.

'Maybe a part of Yubel died?' That still makes no sense though.

To me, Yubel not being able to die therefore they cannot be Johan makes sense. But if that still isn’t convincing, I’ll address the other points I’ve heard.

“Yubel possessed Johan”. Yubel also possessed Martin too.

And yes, I agree that “Johan was just the most convenient person Yubel could use to mess with Judai.”

But is there really any other reason besides messing with Jūdai?

Also, another argument I forgot to address was about how Yubel has the Advanced Crystal Beasts. If Yubel was Johan in his past life, then the Crystal Beasts probably wouldn't have called to Judai for help. Besides, the Crystal Beasts were probably corrupted in a similar way to Yubel, by the Light of Destruction. It's contagious, after all, as seen in the Society of Light arc...

I’m not sure if there are any more arguments to debunk but that’s my two cents.

Oh. And I’d also like to address the “Something tells me that Johan is still majorly significant in the Yubel/Jaden mystery, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how.” quote.

I have a theory of my own concerning Johan’s ancestor which, not to be biased or anything, makes more sense than Yubel = Johan.

Konami makes references to GX a few times throughout the years. 2010: Gem Knights, a “Spirit Ship” archetype that consists of gems and fusions. 2016: Edo and Asuka in ARCV Nowadays (2018), we’re getting some GX goods?? Because it was GX’s 10th anniversary.

I personally think it’s possible for Crystal Protector/Guardian or rather Crystal Keeper TCG wise to be Johan’s ancestor. Crystal Protector is a Crystal Beast support card that was released in 2014 in The Secrets of Evolution (Secrets of Eternity) pack on the 15th of November. In TCG, he was released in 2018, 5th of March if I recall correctly, in the Flames of Destruction pack.

Not only does he have a striking resemblance to Johan, he’s apart of the Crystal Beast archetype. There’s Crystal Vanguard too, who resembles Yubel Johan. He was released on the same date as Protector.

If there are two people who resemble Johan, who is the ancestor? Well, my answer to that is that they’re the same person.

I’ve gone uh, pretty deep with this theory. Drawing parallels to Duel Terminal and everything.

This post is long enough so I’ll stop here.

If anybody wants to know more about my theory, you can read these posts:

It’s essentially a theory that explores Judai’s past life and his relationship to Johan/Crystal Protector.

I just wanted to rebut the ‘theory’ that Yubel = Johan. Because it makes no sense.
