Somewhat of a late reply, but I think you're overthinking it. Yeah, it's a rather glaring plothole, but it can probably be hand-waved with dimension shenanigans. Like, maybe goddesses in the Hyperdimension (and only in that dimension alone) can die via the absence of Shares. The Neptunia series' main boon/bane (imo) is its rather loose and relaxed canon after all.
Roses are purple, violets are another shade of purple, I love purple so much, everything tastes like purple.
I didn't want to put a long comment in the main page for this, but the fic "the Proposal" has a major problem. It's good, it deserves to be on here, there's just one tiny thing...
Being set after Victory (as the Ultradimension characters show up in the fic) means the premise is completely pointless. As shown in Victory anyone who takes in a CPU Memory and survives not only becomes a Goddess, but can survive with zero shares for centuries as shown with Rei Ryghts and Blanc, both of whom lost the faith of their people and all that happened is that they couldn't transform, they lived perfectly fine. I won't hold what happens in Victory II against the author (as that came out after this fic) but even there, Neptune and Nepgear ended up with zero shares and the only thing that happened was that they lost the ability to transform, they still had the ability to fight and move no problem. Had the author set this after the 2nd game but before Victory, it would have worked.
