Bowling isn't all that popular in the UK?
Popular enough that most cities and plenty of towns have a bowling alley. I currently live in quite a small town and I'm still close enough to two bowling alleys of them in neighbouring towns. It's a pretty common activity. I've been bowling at least 8 of my birthdays since childhood no matter where I lived at the time. :P
