Can anybody recommend a website for watching the original shorts with subs? The website that I normally use to watch anime is missing a few episodes of the original shorts.
I\'m not sure if posting that sort of link is allowed, so I PM\'d you.
\"Canon Foreigner: Puko, Retsuko\'s bohemian friend from school. A less egregious example, as she spends at least half the year overseas. The lemur assistant to the yoga instructor, who provides the actual yoga lesson while the latter simply works out as in the original.\"
Who are you guys trying to fool? Manumaru didn\'t existed in the original and he was the guy who keept perstering Resasuke to date.
He is a character who should had appeared in that list due how his actions affected both Retsuko and Resasuke\'s lives.
In the official twitter account Manumaru and Rinta were added to the original TBS canon since the ilustrations published clearly shows details omitted in the Netflix version like Director Ton\'s constant sweating and the fact Retsuko learned that Natsuko Yokosawa married.
There is even an ilustration which Haida see them walking past in the corridor, however he just notices that Resasuke reminds of Retsuko rather than being upset like the Netflix version Haida.
I would be not be surprised if that article gets reported for submiting misleading and false information.
After all, it\'s easy to find the official site and official twitter accounts regarding Aggretsuko since you were ignoring a lot of important events from the show.
If these things bother you so much then you should go ahead and fix the article your self instead of discussing it here.
\"Valentine\'s Day Episodes: In one episode Retsuko tries and fails to give candy to a male coworker she has a crush on for Valentine\'s Day.\"
You guys intentionally refused to mention that said co-worker was Resasuke and she wanted to give chocolate not candy to him.
It\'s also ignored that Haida, Director Ton and a whole crowd ruined Retsuko\'s valentines day to the point she gave a desperate scream.
Besides, it was the last episode which Resasuke appeared.
You don\'t care about putting any important details, right?
You could\'ve fixed it yourself instead of waiting for me to do it.
\"Even he has his own Hidden Depths. Despite being good-natured he’s self-centered to a fault, which is part of what ultimately ends his relationship with Retsuko. On the other side of the coin, he also appreciates and enjoys Retsuko’s death metal singing when she finally reveals her penchant for it to him, rather than regarding it as unusual.\"
That part is regarding Resasuke, however you guys clearly ignored that despite Retsuko\'s frustration she never spoke anything important to him.
Of course, Resasuke didn\'t knew she was into karaoke and neither knew her work life was frustrating, because she spent a lot of time smiling without talking anything important.
It was like before they dated, she was just next to Resasuke, but didn\'t said a word.
Funny how the article ignores that fact just to impulse Retsuko and Haida\'s shipping.
Resasuke is not even without compassion, after all he was legitimately concerned about Retsuko\'s well being to the point of escorting her back home when she was drunk without anyone telling him to do so.
I wonder how you guys will feel when Sanrio publish a ilustration which Retsuko and Resasuke got back together, that\'s amusing just to imagine it.
\"Resasuke could be interpreted as a deconstruction of this trope. Out of the main cast, he’s the character who (unwittingly) presents his inner self the most outwardly…and is regarded as an eccentric Black Sheep by the office for it.
Even he has his own Hidden Depths.
Whoever wrote that line ignores that the reason which Resasuke dated Retsuko wasn\'t of his own will.
It was because of Manumaru constant persistence that Resasuke was forced to date.
Manumaru is not even mentioned by name and neither is mentioned the fact he was responsible for Retsuko and Resasuke dating.
Besides, Resasuke is not that \"self centered\" at all since he risked his reputation to the point of not saying to Retsuko right away that someone forced him to date her.
He even was afraid of giving an opinion for Retsuko\'s choice of clothing during the shopping spree, because he didn\'t wanted to offend her.
That role was originally for Fenneko in the original shorts who was pleased to give harsh opinions about Retsuko\'s choice of clothing and accessories to the point of being ironic and saying that Retsuko was indecisive when it was clearly her own fault.
Besides, Retsuko despite noticing Resasuke flaws in his behavior, she was still afraid of telling him to not sniff his fingers in public or be careful to not splat spaghetti in his face.
After all she was afraid of offending him which make clear that they have similar personalities, but yet were unable of realizing it in time.
Also, if Resasuke is really not important, then why he is represented here?
For what I remember it\'s not the first time which someone masked as Resasuke is appearing in the Amoeba Music events.
I suggest you guys to rework every misleading topics and find reliable sources of information regarding Aggretsuko.
\"Haida being interested in Retsuko actually was subtly hinted in his description on Sanrio\'s website, and in one episode of the shorts, he is seen going out to dinner with Retsuko and Fenneko. His personality may seem different because he had very little screen time in the original shorts and so there was no time for him to show any of his Hidden Depths, or what his relationship with the other characters was.\"
Whoever wrote that, ignore that Rarecho never publish any sort of information about Retsuko and Haida being a potential couple.
The writer even ignore that dinner mentioned was actually disastrous.
After all, Haida and Fenneko went drunk and keept ordering a fortune in food and drinks to the point of not listening Retsuko\'s lecture that it would be a bad idea even though it was a cheap restaurant.
In the last call, they wanted to order even more food and drinks that Retsuko requested the check for what she already ordered otherwise she would be forced to pay for their share.
Now, I ask why else Retsuko would turn down invitations to go out for drinks in the Netflix version?
Of course, Haida and Fenneko have the habit of screwing the dinner that it was no longer healthy for Retsuko going out with them.
In the article they say:
\"Fenneko, Retsuko\'s best friend and frequent confidant, who occasionally backs her up on drums during her enraged singing.\"
However, Fenneko was actually one of the characters who mostly drove Retsuko nuts in the original TBS shorts.
Right in her first appearance she was saying that she would like to order the same food and drinks as Retsuko, only to say that she didn\'t like it till the end of the episode.
In another, Fenneko was constantly giving spoilers for a episode which she recorded for Retsuko, pretty much for Retsuko\'s annoyance.
In episode 94 she gave harsh opinions about Retsuko\'s choice of clothing and accessories to the point of being ironic and telling Retsuko was indecisive when it was actually Fenneko\'s own fault.
In the Netflix version she shows that she have the habit of stalking people behind their backs, something which Retsuko didn\'t like at all.
She even went lenghts to stalk Retsuko since she never talk about herself.
Whoever write the article ignore that Retsuko only trust in Secretary Washimi and Director Gori.
They even ignore that Retsuko have a lot of good reasons for not trusting too much in her own co-workers.
I have removed speculation concerning Retsuko\'s feelings towards Haida, including the following example:
Note that I have left the Ship Tease example in place, as it applies regardless of what Retsuko\'s feelings turn out to be. (If it turns out she doesn\'t return his feelings, both Ship Tease and Ship Sinking would apply.)
The article haven\'t bothered to check official sources of information and it misleaded many fans into thinking that Retsuko had feelings for Haida when she clearly have no romantic interest on him.
It should be noted that she never spoke about him to Secretary Washimi and Director Gori who are the only people which she does trust.
Besides, how someone can claim that Retsuko is hinted to have feelings for Haida when she had no regret in turning down invitations to go out with him THRICE?
So, I noticed that whoever wrote the original article ONLY took in account Haida\'s point of view and not Retsuko\'s own point of view which is what really matters.
After all in the very first episode of Aggretsuko\'s Netflix version she mentions that her karaoke booth is her secret place which means that no one who work with her should know about it with the exception of Director Gori, Secretary Washimi and even Resasuke.
Also, I don\'t understand why the writer wanted to mention that Haida\'s interest for punk rock mirror Retsuko\'s taste for Death Metal since Rarecho did mention that Haida is a bad singer who don\'t even know how to play any instrument which he own.
Since the article writer didn\'t took account in making a deep research or even pay attention in the story it led many fans to have false expectations to the point of making shipping wars.
Think about it: why Sanrio would create a male red panda to be Retsuko\'s love interest if the idea was really making her being in love with Haida?
It\'s not really a ship tease, but lack of attention since Retsuko\'s point of view regarding Haida was never took in account.
After all, Haida had NO deep feelings for her in the original just to be screaming out loud.
It\'s a bad idea to point that Retsuko\'s relationship with Resasuke is really over, after all Rarecho have published several pieces of artworks which Retsuko clearly love him despite the fact they haven\'t got the chance of having a scenario of how their relationship would work.
I suggest you guys to check the official twitter account which have loads of artwork featuring Resasuke and even they published a ilustration which Retsuko thinks about Resasuke during valentine\'s day.
In the official facebook page they showed a image of someone masked as Resasuke who was promoting Aggretsuko.
So, you may ask: why not Haida?
That\'s because Resasuke was actually the one who is meant to be Retsuko\'s love interest.
Another issue is that the article haven\'t took in account that Aggretsuko started in 2018 and no such piece of artwork or mention of Retsuko being in love was ever made, it\'s just fan speculation, specially due the popularity of shipping.
In a side note, the article states that Fenneko joins Retsuko in her rage season, however whoever mentioned that ignored that the whole point of Retsuko\'s rage moments are just her imagination.
She is not really having confrontations with anyone and neither making live conserts in her own work place.
It\'s just like when she seemed to be scolding Chief Komiya when in truth she made him speak alone.
Of course, Fenneko cannot guess what Retsuko have in her mind.
I mistakenly placed the date as \"2018\" when it\'s actually 2016.
Somehow the edit was not saved.
>That\'s because Resasuke was actually the one who is meant to be Retsuko\'s love interest.
...Good Lord, you completely missed the entire point of the theme park trip and the montage of inattentive-boyfriend moments, and the bedside confession with Haida, didn\'t you?
The entire point of Resasuke\'s character is that Retsuko latched onto him as a way to get out of working, he did it because he was pressured into it by his friends, and it works out badly for both of them because they\'re incompatible. Which is probably supposed to be a surprise, hence the marketing.
>In a side note, the article states that Fenneko joins Retsuko in her rage season, however whoever mentioned that ignored that the whole point of Retsuko\'s rage moments are just her imagination.
>She is not really having confrontations with anyone and neither making live conserts in her own work place.
Yes, but if Fenneko appears in those mental states, she still \"joins\" Retsuko in that she appears onscreen. English works that way.
Don\'t go spreading lies, you guys clearly ignored Retsuko\'s point of view from the whole story.
Like Retsuko really had feelings for Haida when the creator NEVER publish any sort of artwork which they\'re lovers even after season one ended.
You guys don\'t even noticed the loads of official artworks which Rarecho been publishing about Retsuko loving Resasuke and neither took note of Haida\'s flaws which are the reason that she never got interest in dating him for five years.
If Fenneko appears in Retsuko\'s mental states then it\'s still Retsuko\'s own imagination.
You can\'t even be sure if Fenneko was agreeing with Retsuko in the same manner.
Remove these pointless ship tease about Retsuko having a potential love with Haida and go insisting in supporting lies.
Another thing is that the article ignore similarities between Retsuko and Resasuke.
Saying that they\'re incompatible is nonsense.
After all, both dislike their jobs, both have trouble speaking their minds and
both have problems in dealing with persistent people.
Remember when Retsuko had a lot of trouble with the shopkeeper who was ruining her shopping spree in episode 2?
She had to get the help of Puko to get out from it.
While Resasuke had nobody to help him out when Manumaru insisted to tell him going dating.
Sure, Resasuke have less social skills, but it doesn\'t change the fact that Retsuko hardly can speak up her mind since in the dating she never spoke anything really important to him that he was even surprised that he don\'t knew she was in Karaoke or Death Metal.
Don\'t go saying that Haida was meant to have deep feelings for Retsuko ever since the TBS shorts, after all Rarecho continues to publish artworks which he and Retsuko remains in a professional relationship and that\'s for two years.
These ilustrations are even a sequel of the original shorts despite the fact that even Manumaru and Rinta appeared in one of them to the point that Haida finally notices Resasuke, but didn\'t bother about him like the Netflix version.
Anyway, what Haida did of special in Aggretsuko Netflix version?
From what I noticed he was sulking about Retsuko not getting too close and the fact she was even hidding things from him.
He acted gullible and paranoid when he heard a silly rumor about Retsuko that it give a feeling that if Retsuko tould her secrets, then he would spill the beans.
And we even saw him acting jealous about Ookami even when he and Retsuko were not dating at all.
Haida got drunk and ended having pneumonia since he tripped and remained still in a pond as if it was a warning for people who get obsessed with a unriquited love.
Come on, ignoring Retsuko\'s point of view just to go promoting shipping is ridiculous.
Stop making speculations which were NEVER confirmed.
There are many people who went aggressive when someone critize the shipping since they only cared to see Haida\'s point of view and not Retsuko\'s point of view in the Netflix version.
I don\'t think you understand what Ship Tease is. Again, it doesn\'t matter if Retsuko turns out not to have feelings for him. The viewer is meant to consider a ship between them as a possibility, which is what makes it ship tease. Not whether or not such a ship would actually work out.
From what I noticed, a lot of people are jumping conclusions about the relationship between Retsuko and Haida.
After all, Retsuko usually don\'t spent so much time with him and never felt bad about turning him down when he invited to go out for drinks.
She never seemed to have any trust on him since he seems to be someone who could spill her secrets to the point of turning them into a rumor mill.
It\'s rather irrelevant that Haida\'s liking punk rock would mirror Retsuko\'s taste of Death Metal, after all Rarecho did mention that Haida is a bad singer.
Besides, that fact could give Retsuko\'s nightmares if he tried to sing a serenade for her.
Retsuko\'s relationship with Resasuke should not be considered as finished, after all the author mostly focused in showing her point of view.
After all, Retsuko never knew that Resasuke was being pressured to date her and he probably could not tell her the whole truth, specially with Secretary Washimi and Director Gori\'s sudden arrival.
We can\'t be sure that he didn\'t like Retsuko since his point of view was never shown, however he doesn\'t even seem to be someone who would critize Retsuko for liking death metal and he also appear to dislike having confrontations.
In fact the idea was to show that both are not that different, Retsuko have a hard time speaking her mind that she spent too much time smiling without saying anything to Resasuke.
Since he hardly speaks unless spoken to, it wasn\'t possible for him to figure that Retsuko was feeling worn out.
Remember that Resasuke did mention that he never knew Retsuko was into karaoke?
Of course, she never said anything really important, she didn\'t made clear she was feeling cold or her sandals were hurting.
Come to think about, both have a hard time fending themselves, Retsuko for example had a lot of trouble dealing with the clothing store clerk that she had to get the help of Puko who knew that she just wanted to purchase two pairs of socks.
While Resasuke had a hard time with Manumaru who pressured him to date to the point of even making phone calls telling him what to do.
Anyway, Retsuko said that she would \"destroy\" Resasuke for being so \"bland\", but it wasn\'t his fault if she was in love with a illusory version of himself and neither his fault if she didn\'t notice that he is not used to start conversations.
When Retsuko saw Resasuke for the first time, she saw how he trully was since she wasn\'t already drunk.
But, she don\'t seemed to actually dislike him, things changed only after she learned that Fenneko did mention that Resasuke not only took care of her, but also escorted her back home which is a fact she could not remember.
She wasn\'t under the effect of alcohol at all since we didn\'t even saw her drinking beer after that night.
In fact, Retsuko might ended up spilling something about herself due the fact she was drunk which might be the reason that Resasuke wasn\'t offended or shocked about her perfomance.
There is a very deep meaning for the scene which Retsuko tould her secrets to Resasuke despite the fact she wanted to break up, after all she would never tell anything so personal to anyone of her own department.
It\'s possible that Resasuke might get the chance to explain his whole point of view and they might even have a second chance.
Speaking of Haida, the official twitter account published this:
It almost like a date, but Haida forgot his umbrela and Tsubone came to help him, it feels more like a joke for those who have high expectations about him dating Retsuko.
The discussion page is for discussing the article, NOT general thoughts about the series. Post this sort of thing on the forums, not here.
That link doesn’t work
I suggest you guys to remove every mention about Retsuko having a potential relationship with Haida.
After all, the official Twitter account NEVER publish any official artwork of them as a couple.
Don\'t go promoting lies!
Fenneko actually NEVER joins Retsuko in her rage sessions, it\'s actually Retsuko\'s own imagination.
Remember the scene which Retsuko picks a chainsaw and destroys her desk?
It\'s very much the same thing.
After all, Fenneko cannot just bring musical instruments to her own work place.
When Retsuko goes in a rage, she actually imagine the whole scene and spent a lot of time quiet in the TBS shorts during these times.
That\'s why no one takes notice of Retsuko\'s change in appearance.
In the Netflix version, she just goes to the bathroom in order to scream her death metal or go to the karaoke.
Also, in that version, Retsuko refuses to let people know about her hobbies and specially Haida since he is gullible and could even spill her secrets.
I think it is clear that when I have her she seems to be joining Retsuko she is fealing the same thing that retsuko is, even if the rage songs are only in retsukos head
I think it is clear that whenever she seems to be joining Retsuko she is fealing the same thing that retsuko is, even if the rage songs are only in retsukos head
It\'s still just Retsuko\'s imagination, after all she doesn\'t talk too much about her hobbies.
There is no way that Fenneko can guess what Retsuko is thinking during these times.
I would not say that Retsuko is really open for the idea of dating Haida since most official artworks published by Sanrio still despict them as fellow co-workers.
Besides, Haida have unriquited feelings for Retsuko since she is usually avoiding him and turning down invitations to go out for drinks without having any regrets.
His behavior toward Retsuko appears to be rather obsessive than healthy as he even showed to be jealous and aggressive toward fellow worker Ookami, a fact which Retsuko herself was observing.
Yet, he is seem heart broken to the point of catching pneumonia which feels more like a warning for those who are obsessed with love.
It\'s true that Resasuke inability to pay attention in Retsuko has made her worn out, however Sanrio always made promotional artworks of him being Retsuko\'s love interest as if they wanted to show that their first attempt might not work out.
There is a commentary from a minor skunk character who said that couples might break up at first, but their relationship may become stronger if a second chance is given.
Anyway, it\'s rather strange that she tould the truth about herself as if Resasuke would end owing her in the future.
Speaking of which, Resasuke\'s name seem to be a pun between the word \"Retsu\" and \"Sasuke\" as if he was meant to be linked with the protagonist.
I’m pretty sure you are wrong about that last one. It’s more likely a pun on his species. In Japanese red pandas are called ressaa panda
Also I think that ideas like this go on the WMG page.
This should go on the forums, not here. The discussion page is for discussing the article.
But he isn’t discussing the article, he discussing the show itself.
Oh never mind
The page title should be Aggretsuko, as it is the official English name of the franchise going by Sanrio.com and the Netflix series.
Were the original TBS shorts ever officially translated, or were they just fansubbed? That might account for the difference in subs (especially when it comes to character names and swearing).
I do not know if the subs that I have seen are official or not but I think that they probably are. They don't look like fan subs to me and I don't think that the website that I use to watch it uses fan subs.
Note that the sub that I think is the official one has very few bad words in it.
The English character names are definitely fansubber-created. https://horseiuchi.wordpress.com/2016/09/16/the-name-game/
I guess I was wrong then. I will correct the pages later.
Puko, Retsuko\'s bohemian friend from school. A less egregious example, as she spends at least half the year overseas.
