I once invoked this trope by accident. While half-fiends and half-celestials are both fairly playable in Pathfinder it turns out that a half-find/half-celestial (made by applying both templates and taking half the powers offered by each) is very over powered. The GM and I also worked together on a clockwork half-dragon template, but after the half-celestial/half-fiend incident I\\\'m almost scared to use it.
