I think \\\"infected\\\" is short-hand for \\\"infected individual\\\", terminology which you\\\'ll see tossed around depending on the ZombieApocalypse. I\\\'m pretty sure it means that Lana does use the word \\\"zombie\\\" to describe one of the infected, thus averting NotUsingTheZWord. The grammar is alright.
