Early on the BBC tried to replicate the Dalek fad several times but never successfully. Most notably there were the Quarks in the Second Doctor\\\'s adventure \\\"The Dominators\\\", as well as the Krotons in the Second Doctor\\\'s \\\"The Krotons\\\" and the cuter Chumblies in the First Doctor\\\'s \\\"Galaxy 4\\\". The new series was also considering new alternatives to the Daleks while the BBC was embroiled in negotiations with the estate of their creator, Terry Nation, but they were able to reach an agreement.
