My major disbelief is dealt with - pre-Kyoshi, there could have been people who said \\\"[[ThePrisoner I Am Not A Number, I Am A Free Man]]\\\" - it\\\'s just that Kyoshi forced them, if they existed, to accept numbers at hurricane-point. It even seems like she couldn\\\'t tell a ronin from a pirate.

But now it\\\'s pure Stupid Fire Nation(s). Canon Avatars seem to have good impulse control - at least when it comes to WMD-level power. After all, who would knowingly draw that kind of response? Kyoshi gave Chin every chance to retreat before slicing off that island. Roku didn\\\'t kill Sozin for building his first \\\"colony\\\".

The Fire Nation(s) did \\\'\\\'three\\\'\\\' literally unbelievably stupid things.

(1). Did not see any problem in ignoring crooks who didn\\\'t shit where they ate. Historically, nations went to war over that kind of thing all the time - \\\"They\\\'re in your territory, they\\\'re your responsibility - and that looks like my stolen stuff you\\\'re buying from them! DIE!\\\"

(2). Did not take Kyoshi\\\'s power seriously. There\\\'s a reason we haven\\\'t had a global war since nukes were invented - the consequences became too great.

(3). Never explained the true meaning of \\\"loyalty\\\", yet took that misunderstanding way too personally all the time. They complain about other nations not understanding them, but never bother to explain - unless they are talking to an outsider they hope will become an in-law in the strictest confidence - that telling a genocidal dictator where to shove it very likely means death, even if they aren\\\'t executed. Even after Toph is told this in Chapter 29, she refuses to pass that along, which means that particular Stupid is \\\'\\\'contagious\\\'\\\'.
