[[spoiler:Well, the age difference, while large, has been portrayed before without people getting up in arms about it. Yumi Omura, 17, and Hiroyasu Ueda, 40, of Chobits fame are a couple and have 23 year difference but I\'ve never heard complains from Clamp fandom.]]

I think that the Daikichi-Rin pairing in the end is unsatisfying because it wasn\'t about that. It never seemed to be about Daikichi wanting to \'grow\' a wife. He broke his ass raising her as a daughter, sacrificing career, personal happiness, to bring her up right so she could move on and live as an adult. Having Rin stay with him as a lover just seemed to be like a slap-in-the-face to that whole idea. Having Daikichi suddenly decide to take Rin as a lover really sickened me, I felt he betrayed all that time as a father that we followed along with him in the anime. Perhaps the mangaka was trying to avoid the same trite pairings at the end that everyone expected but Daikichi should have ended up with that single mom and Rin with her childhood friend. Although seemingly cliche, in this situation, it really would have been the best resolution.]]
