EDIT 2: Here\\\'s another possibility; of all the genres I found the most difficult to work with, nothing stuck out as much as Rap-Rock; I basically had no idea where to put most of them. Maybe that\\\'s changed]]. It might solve the problem with the bloated alternative folder more than a psychedelic folder would.

You may not. Anything other than major genres would just confuse artist placement. Alternative just happens to be a large genre, there\\\'s nothing that can be done about it (though if there were a way to make folders within folders, then there\\\'d be no problem).
