I was actually thinking of debating morality in general, but yeah, they care about the actual CharacterAlignment. Which works so well D&D\'s not using it any more... I cannot say why they care, but yeah, they do. CharacterAlignment discussions come up anywhere. I saw debate all the time over the alignment of the characters from InvaderZim, to the point I started scrubbing them from the page every time they came up. Nothing good ever comes from that.
