The whole point of A Christmas Carol is that rich people should care about others instead of being selfish and greedy, NOT as some {{Theatre/TheMerchantOfVenice}}-type redemption story. Scrooge was not bad because he hated Christmas, but because he only cared about money. (Something else I would like to add is that the Ebenezer Scroggie story is probably false and there are several other theories regarding Scrooge\'s origins, all of which were British gentiles and not Jews btw.)
