While the Tor article is pretty good at explaining what Magic Realism is, I\'d say the term can be used both to refer to the actual literary movement that began in Latin America, and to works that came both before and after and that share similarities with it. So I don\'t agree with excluding works just because they\'re not explicitly a part of the literary movement.
