The \\\"KudzuPlot\\\" segment was deleted, but rather than risk an Administtrivia/EditWar, I want to propose a rewrite here. The editor removed it made the remark that \\\"FFXIII has its fans\\\"; while true, that doesn\\\'t change the fact that \\\'\\\'FFXIII\\\'\\\' was one of, if not THE most criticized story in terms of plot and characters within the series. Again, this being an AudienceReaction trope, it\\\'s not honest to argue that the game having its fans changes some of the vitriol that \\\'\\\'XIII\\\'s\\\'\\\' plot received.

So with that said, here\\\'s my proposed rewrite:

* The convoluted, sometimes nonsensical plots became a major criticism of the series \\\'\\\'post-VII\\\'\\\', with the largest criticisms being aimed at \\\'\\\'VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII\\\'\\\', which was derided (particularly by Western audiences) for introducing plot points, developments or scenes which made no sense unless time was taken to read the lengthy datalogs. And even then, some things are not explained even within the logs and some were considered \\\"inconsistent\\\" even in context (for example, Snow sometimes fell from an absurd height and remained unharmed, while at other times, he is heavily injured). The \\\'\\\'FFXIII\\\'\\\' cast was also a major point of contention (again, Snow in particular being love-him-or-hate him). However, longtime fans of the series were well aware of the strange routes the series could take its plots. For example, [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyI the very first game\\\'s]] TimeTravel mechanics make no sense, \\\'\\\'Videogame/FinalFantasyVIII\\\'\\\' received a lot of criticism upon its release for the sudden \\\"orphanage\\\" twist and other developments, and even a well-liked title like \\\'\\\'Videogame/FinalFantasyX\\\'\\\' faced strong criticism for its protagonist Tidus, both in terms of his characterization and impact on the plot. The source of these criticisms is often attributed to the relatively serious and dark tones of \\\'\\\'VideoGame/FinalFantasyVI\\\'\\\' and \\\'\\\'[[VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII VII]]\\\'\\\', both of which featured casts which are still fan-favorites to this day, along with plot twists which set a high standard. Many detractors of the later games often point to those two as the peak of the series\\\' storytelling.
