* RootingForTheEmpire: Hayward received a surprising amount of support from some fans, who felt he was less at fault than Wanda over the Westview situation and believed he was making sound arguments for her arrest. At least early on, before we find out his callous refusal to let her bury Vision so he could weaponise his remains is what drove her to the breaking point in the first place. This is despite the fact even before we find this out, he was deliberately misrepresenting Wanda as a far more simplistic villain than she was, and [[TriggerHappy his tactics in dealing with the Hex situation]] [[ArtisticLincenseMilitary would have gotten him courtmartialed in real life]].

To be blunt, the original writing \\\'\\\'was\\\'\\\' giving him the DracoInLeatherPants treatment, even as it denied doing so. RFTE shouldn\\\'t be worded in a way that \\\'\\\'agrees\\\'\\\' with the people rooting for it; it\\\'s basically just self-aware DILP (IE, \\\"people know they\\\'re bad agree with them anyway\\\", not \\\"the villain was actually right\\\"). The fact some entries \\\'\\\'are\\\'\\\' written as VillainHasAPoint is really something that raises the issue that the trope might need some clean-up.

What I would suggest as a compromise is adding a TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot about it. Hayward\\\'s character wasn\\\'t wasted, but I can see how people may feel the show would have been stronger if we had a ReasonableAuthorityFigure or HeWhoFightsMonsters character oppose her (though I feel Hex!Vision actually serves as the former; once he becomes aware of what\\\'s going on he calls out Wanda, opposes her, slips away to investigate and isn\\\'t on her side; he only rejoins her in the end when she\\\'s decided to end the Hex and free everyone).
