That\'s not entirety true. VideoGame/TalesOfPhantasia and even the first VideoGame/StarOcean title has time travel as part of it\'s plot, and they were critical successes. The only Time Travel/RPG title that failed that I can think of is VideoGame/RoboTrek, and it failed for a different reason. But yeah, I think that they did more research and saw that this combo can in fact result in good games. It\'s just that most of them never left Japan, or when they do leave Japan, gets butchered somehow and most of the poor ratings are due to the translation, not the plot.
