Sure, he is clearly a villain and , but let's look at these points closer:
1) Everyone manipulates everyone in this series. Angela, Tyrell, Heyworth, Price, Joanna, Mr Robot, Elliot himself are all guilty of that.
2) This is by far the most serious and valid point. My main issue with it is that if Irving gets to be put on the list, so should Tyrell, Grant and everyone, who was involved.
3) Santiago endangered the whole operation and proved to be incompetent. Yes, the murder is brutal but that does not make it monstrous, especially since it was quick. By the same logic Darth Vader is an irredeemable monster too.
4) I personally didn't see him actively enjoying the process or doing it for sadistic pleasure. It seems to be a routine way of doing business in the Dark Army.
