One little aside note: You mention that no one from \'\'Frozen\'\' or \'\'Big Hero 6\'\' was involved in making Zootopia, but I think Jennifer Lee was supposedly involved in the story development at some point.

Well, the North American release of \'\'VideoGame/EarthBound\'\' had one of the worst cases of clueless marketing in the history of ever (With the tagline of \"This game stinks!\", and generally trying to inaccurately portray it as a GrossoutShow). It was listed under ScrewedByTheNetwork in the Trivia page, and under AnimationAgeGhetto and MisaimedMarketing in the [=YMMV=] page, but there doesn\'t seem to be a trope specifically for clueless marketing.

Since Earthbound would pretty much be \'\'the\'\' prime example for such a trope if it existed, I\'m assuming this means no such trope currently exists. The closest is MisaimedMarketing, but that doesn\'t really fit since it\'s more about targeting the wrong demographic than just generally not knowing how to present the movie.

Maybe you could go to YKTTW (or TropeLaunchPad as it\'s now called) and propose such a trope?

On the other hand, though, it\'s possible that despite the focus of its definition, the actual real-world usage of MisaimedMarketing already encompasses what you\'re talking about. Though I\'m not sure if that means that you shouldn\'t make a new trope, or if it means that you \'\'should\'\' do so and transplant a bunch of examples from MisaimedMarketing.

In that case, however it would probably be considered splitting a trope and maybe should go through TropeRepairShop rather than [=YKTTW=]. Although I\'ve personally never had any luck with TropeRepairShop.
