Yes, men are oppressed, the poor dears have only 90%+ of all the most important leadership positions in leading corporations, and only the vast majority of political power, and only play the overwhelmingly more powerful part in the media... goodness, how oppressed they are. 9_9 I said it was a \\\"straw man\\\" because you told me \\\"go look at how men are oppressed,\\\" as if I ever said men didn\\\'t have any problems to deal with. They do -- for example, the reaction to a man who wants to stay home as a primary care-giver is overwhelmingly negative, the reaction to feminine men is much worse than to masculine women, AbuseIsOkayWhenItsFemaleOnMale... but to say that overall, considering all of society, men have it worse, is simply laughable. When the female president of the United States gives a speech to the overwhelmingly female Congress about some important policy decision, while the mostly female heads of the major media companies are deciding how to cover the story for the benefit of the overwhelmingly female CEOs of the Fortune 500 companies... then I\\\'ll be more inclined to believe you. For now saying men are more oppressed because women are TheUnfairSex is just whining. There are plenty of serious issues that men face as a result of the patriarchy (yes, the same thing that is an evil conspiracy), but bringing attention to these by claiming women have it \\\'\\\'less bad\\\'\\\' is ridiculous.

I\\\'m tired of the EditWar, but the change is ridiculous too. Do you really believe sexism against women is extinct? That there are no more old boys\\\' clubs left? Or do you think that if someone feels males in leadership positions are sometimes unfair to women, that \\\'\\\'must\\\'\\\' mean the person claiming this believes in some insane conspiracy (as opposed to, you know, just observing the sexism which very much still exists in our world, and which requires no secret conspiracy to maintain it)? \\\"Some feminists claim that males in leadership positions can be sexist, that \\\'\\\'must\\\'\\\' mean they\\\'re crazy and believe in a giant conspiracy!\\\" Hmm, maybe if you used fewer {{Strawman}} arguments, I wouldn\\\'t bring them up as often in my responses...

For the most part, \\\"The Patriarchy\\\" means \\\"the culture we live in treats men and women differently in very unfair ways, and the various traditions and cultural structures built around this re-enforce each other.\\\" That doesn\\\'t require some evil group of men to hold evil secret meetings in a EvilTowerOfOminousness; that\\\'s just an observation of fact. Our culture \\\'\\\'does\\\'\\\' treat men and women differently, the way it does this \\\'\\\'is\\\'\\\' unfair. That, plus the fact that there is still significant sexism, whether conscious or of the \\\"hmm, a woman in this job just doesn\\\'t feel quite right...\\\" sort, left amongst men in many leadership positions, is about all that \\\"the patriarchy\\\" means.
