That's it, thanks!
Is there a trope page for this, or is it even tropable: in a sitcom with an ensemble cast, the main characters never seem to have any other friends than the other main or major characters. They always just hang with each other, whereas in real life a person can have several groups of friends that may or may not overlap, and also individual friends outside those groups.
Examples:
- The titular Friends.
- In Frasier, Frasier Crane doesn't seem to have anyone else to go out to than his brother, dad, his producer, or (occasionally) Daphne. This is even lampshaded in one episode, when none of the above have the time to spend an evening with him, and he realizes how few friends he has.
