A character, usually the protagonist, blindly attacks a villain. Side characters go "No don't!", the villain smirks and kicks their ass. Dust settles, main character stands up and has an item of sentimental value in their hand, that the villain had stolen earlier. Usually either something important to the protagonist or to one of the side characters that didn't believe in the hero.
One example is Naruto. During, I think, the Zabuza arc, Naruto bumrushes the villain, villain boots him away, and Naruto stands up with his headband.
