No. 4 is "The Injustice Society of America" from All-Star Comics #37. It has been reprinted in All Star Archives #8 (and probably some other places as well).

No. 5 sounds like "Assault on the Pentagon" from The Batman Family #18. I don't think it's been reprinted.

Thanks for that! I didn't realise that in the 1970s I was reading a reprinted comic from the 1940s. I looked AS #37 up and I remember the cover. So exactly right. Cheers! Edit: I've just found that (6) is Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes #217

(3) might be World’s Finest #242 which is a Super Sons of Superman and Batman story called "Town of the Timeless Killers" from December 1976. Part 1: Trio of Fear Part 2: He Whom Evil Fights Part 3: The Epitaph That Saved a Superman

If it is, then all of the Super-Sons stories have been collected in a trade paperback titled Superman / Batman: Saga of the Super Sons.

Good to know, thank you. I've only found the titles; no synopsis or cover but they sound familiar.

(2) looks like it is the Robin story "Fear Times Four" in Detective Comics #486 from 1979 but I don't recognise any of the other stories in that issue. That supports my idea that I am remembering a republished compilation, possibly a British one. (It doesn't connect to the attack dog story.)

Fridge Logic: DC possibly did not want to re-release a comic - even a silly one - about damage to the Pentagon after the 9/11 attacks.

This a bit of a longshot on no. 1, but your description reminds me of "What Happens When a Batman Dies?" in Detective Comics #500. In that story, a criminal poses as a blind man and uses an attack dog (posing as a guide dog) to attack Batman and infect him with deadly virus. Deadman possess Batman and keeps him going long enough to track the criminal and find the antidote. My (admittedly foggy) memory is that the criminal does die by being attacked by his own dog.

This one is reprinted in Tales of the Batman: Carmine Infantino.

Now that you mention it, I do remember Deadman being in the story. And the dog man wearing shades which would make sense if he was blind. Thanks! Edit: another memory falls into place. Batman is so awesome that even when he is unconscious his body sends an SOS on his EKG. Hmm... I can see where his detractors may have a point

Score so far: (1) confirmed All Star Comics #37 (2) confirmed Detective Comics #486 (3) probably World's Finest #242 (4) possibly Batman Family #18 (5) confirmed Detective Comics #500 (6) confirmed Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes #217 Thanks everyone for stretching their nerd faculties. I have found some of the 'confirmed' comics on a comics app and they are great nostalgia trips for me (even though the quality of the stories is variable).

Glad to help. This one really stretched my credentials as a Bat-geek. :)

I am very grateful. These were scraps of memory from almost 40 years ago, and yet the information is out there. Thanks!
