Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
The AO3 and FF.N pages have different lists. A indexes the stories that are published on their website. F lists original works that have an "impressive" number of derivatives on the site.
Listing the works published by the website makes more sense to me than listing the works whose copyright is being violated. There also seems to be a broader question being asked across several ATT today about the distinction between publishers and distributors, and if distributors should list/index their works. No, it doesn't. None of these platform pages do.
These websites are not creators; they are repositories. They are irrelevant to our wiki. We care about indexing works by medium and by creator, not by distribution platform.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"^^^ I meant that the FF page doesn't index the individual stories like the AO3 page does. Most fanfics hosted on this site are likely from either website anyway. There are plenty of other indexes the fics can be posted on.
IIRC, this was originally implemented in order to replace people treating the site itself as a work. Not really sure why.
This was never resolved. Is there a point in keeping the section?
I think the moderator post is saying "get rid of both sections".
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I agree.
There's no reason to start cluttering up the page of a website for user generated content by proceeding to list random works on the site. Only time that's applicable is if it's something like a troupe of content creators that all share a website listing the shows the site hosts. Like the now largely defunct Channel Awesome.
Just cut that section.

Does the Archive of Our Own page really need a "Works hosted on Archive of Our Own" section?
The Fanfiction Dot Net page doesn't have one. Ao3 is a large fanfic website, with many fandoms even leaning towards that site (for example, the site has a larger Yuri on Ice section than FF does), so it seems like the section could end up too large for the page anyway.
