Or the physics-breaking properties of the work’s Faster-Than-Light Travel include ignoring inertia. For example, jump drives involve no relative motion in the first place, and hyperdrives transit into another dimension where inertia might not be a problem.

Is there a trope for how in Science fiction people often have ships accelerate to lightspeed (or faster) in a matter of seconds and somehow the occupants aren't instantly reduced to red jelly?
