It's just some playing with Won't Take "Yes" for an Answer.
Is there a trope where Won't Take "Yes" for an Answer meets Glad I Thought of It? To illustrate:
Alice works for Bob. When she wants a raise, she shows up ready to make her full case. It doesn't quite register when he says yes, and she launches into her prepared speech anyway. At the end, he again says yes. Alice walks away believing she successfully changed his mind, and never grasps that he said yes to begin with.
