That's the one - you've made my friend very happy!
A friend is looking for this one. A children's book in which the moon steals a baby (sounds a bit like Sendak's "Outside Over There" but it isn't) and carries the child across the sea. As the moon becomes smaller over time it can no longer hold the child and thus drops it, exclaiming, "Fiddlesticks!". The child is rescued but the moon remains weeping for it.
