The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at You Know, That Thing Where.
That trope is about societies rather than individuals - but maybe the trope could be expanded?
^ I wish so.
We can never truly eradicate the coronavirus, but we can suppress its threat like influenzaSacrificed Basic Skill for Awesome Training is already closer, I think. Which could use a better name, since it seems like training and voluntary sacrifice are both optional. Also a bit of Sheltered Aristocrat and Upper-Class Twit, at least in Mr Peanutbutter's case.
Is there a trope for a person who doesn't know how to handle an emergency because they've never had to? The character of Mr Peanutbutter on Bojack Horseman has led a life where everything comes easy to him, and as a result, he's completely incapable of handling situations where the solution doesn't come easy (such as when his house falls into a recently-dug oil well).
For a real life example, there's the captain of the Titanic. The White Star company chose him because he'd never been in an accident, so he must be "lucky". Unfortunately, this meant that when the Titanic hit an iceberg, he had no idea what to do and simply went into Heroic BSOD while his subordinates handled things.
