Nope. Going back a bit into the history of enquires here I've found it. For anyone else looking, it's Poko.
Addendum: It figures that I was so close to figuring it out had there not been another animated show with a kid and a dog called Pocoyo. Made me dismiss similar names entirely.

The host was a boy and his dog and the location was the backyard of a house.. They usually went about teaching basic "moral of the story" premises, similar to other kids shows. Occasionally they would go into the house to fulfil some segment of the show, specifically the one that comes to mind is them sitting in a theatre to watch something (a play perhaps?) The show was likely either CGI or Claymation, but it definitely had vibrant colours, as is the standard for a kid's show.
Finally, it is not Wallace and Gromit.
