The author's name is actually Jesmyn Ward— Jessymn West is a different author.
edit: Er, but, I now see that the original request was made in 2012... Not sure they're still looking for it under either author's name, haha.

I haven't read this, but what was this book called? It was about a black family in New Orleans during the days before Hurricane Katrina. There was a pregnant teenage daughter, and a son who bred pitbulls to fight. Thanks.
